  1. why would you put a trailer in the garage in the first place

my neighborhood has an association. items like trailers must be parked inside the garage, so we would park our dirtbikes on them with tie-downs. since we use it on the weekends enough, paying a fee to store it didnt make sense. so we dealt with it. I think we are selling it now though. it will be missed, but not the space it took up.

  2. I have a nice 2.5 car detatched garage and a 16x40 barn, that I am slowly turning into a workshop.

The issue so far has been my stuff. at the current time. My fiances Jeep is in the garage along with my two dirt bikes and three street bikes. Talks have been something had to go... Which is fine I do want to sell the Katana. However the bad side to that is to replace it with a RC51 or a VFR. which technically fixes nothing.

My 91 f150 is a project in the Barn. So with all the spare parts stacked in there it shoots the barn. :nono:

I have stated that I am going to extend the garage another 20 feet. She would rather an addition on the house. Its a give and take at my place and I dont want to give :D

I think when the F150 is out of the Barn and I finish the work inside that I want to do it will fix a lot of our issues. The jeep and bikes will head to the barn and the garage will be open again.

(everyone asks, you have a 2.5 car garage and only have a jeep and 5 bikes. Where is all the room at. i have all my reloading stuff sit up in there plus we are both sponsored archers, so all of that crap is in there along with my work bench and bow press and string jigs and stretchers... TOO MUCH CRAP!!!

Then my toolbox and all my power tools.... There is no room left in there)(if it was heated and had cable and a big screen I would rather call it my man cave).

affirmation that I am not the only one having to negotiate space with their better half offers some solace. everyone has offered some interesting suggestions on how they are dealing with it. how far out is the 150 from done?

  3. the "U" in SUV stands for Utility. It won't melt or dissolve if you leave it parked outside. Many older and high mileage vehicles happily live out their lives in the snow belt while being left outside in the elements.

If the shitty smog didn't rot your SUV, the pure Ohio snow filled air surely won't. The wife's SUV spent 2 years in CA, 5 in PA 2 in OH, and now back in CA. No worse for the wear. Now if your $50k SUV can't hack the snow, then you overpaid by about $45k:D

..... Except in CA rust was never an issue and it has become one since we moved here. Plus car maintenance in Ohio -- since we do it all ourselves-- is a pain the ass and we are forced to step up our efforts in new and ingenous ways.... It took more than anti-sieze to get my rotors off the truck last month, actually it took an act of god. Other than that thou -- the cold just makes me grouchy. I might be more agreeable in April!!!

  4. Cars don't belong in the mancave.

my strategy is financial. all my vehicles are paid off and i dont want another car payment (for now anyways - although i have list of what i want when the time comes :D ) The weather just hammers my truck and I dont have another 40 to 50G to buy me a new SUV right now. im hoping that the garage parking will at to its longevity. not terribly wrong :o ??

  5. I have a 2.5 car garage, heated with all the goodies, air, beer fridge, etc...

The rule is I must make room for the wife's car during the season that she must scrape her windows. Been better than 15 years now with no problems. Cept now I have 2 bikes out back in the shed, 1 over at a friends garage, and 4 packed in my "work" area on my side. My truck is outdoors, cept for when I am at work:D

She seems to think I have too many:eek:

you are so wonderful!! i love your rule and that you stick to it.... it sucks thou you so many of your bikes divi'd up all over. this for us is why a 3 car is golden

  6. Whoever pays the mortgage gets the garage space. No negotiating. :D

Until the bitchin' got too much for me to handle... the bikes went into the dining room, the GN went to my parents, and now we can get her car and my truck in the garage.

thats brilliant!! lol.... not sure the bikes in my dining room would be a win. hmmmmm..... let me sit on that

being able to park in the garage in the winter has changed my life !!!! im much more pleasant to be around from november to march. :p pretty pretty pics of the bikes!

  7. With casper there. Not thinking small though, thinking possible house building style BUT polebarn for now, insulated with power, and plumbing, then going from there with the house.

But yeah I had 2 bikes and 2 cars, full tools etc. It sucked.

I love this idea of a Pole Barn Home. My friend in New Mexico lives acrosssed from this entire community in Santa Fe where they purposely built up Homes out of Barns. Great concept and theyve retained their value in that neighborhood because of the unique concept.

if and when i buy another house, it had better have a 3 car garage for sure. either that, or i need to find other hobbies.

  8. I have a tiny, cramped 2 car garage and between my roommate and I there is usually 2-3 bikes, his SUV, my truck and until recently whatever car I had as a toy. His SUV got one side and I got the other side to cram in my car and a bike or 2 but I've always made it work with a bike in front of the car and behind the car. I've now sold off my car and its only the bikes on my side plus misc other stuff which may soon include a trailer if I can get that to fit too

The truck is too big for the garage anyhow so I promptly put in remote start and that solved the cold issue. Just take a broom to windshield to get the snow off and off to work I go

we had bikes on top of the trailer for the longest time, which is logical if you are cramped. at least you have more space on your side now.

  9. so without a 3 car garage, how does your family negotiate space in the garage between trailers, onroad toys, offroad toys and our regular vehicles?

For us, the source of tention has been alleviated so I can get my truck in the garage for the winter, but a storage unit simply is just a temporary fix.... Well at least I keep telling myself that.

The winters here are harsh for me and for those of you used to it, this might seem silly. But being able to park in the garage during the winter and race home to "claim" that space in the garage is really important in terms of my sanity.

Who wins in your household?

  10. I'm seeing what you describe alot of the time right now. In my own company, a huge percentage of movement is strictly lateral even though its obvious the position is promotive on some level. sorry to hear it. they kind have you by the cajones.

  11. You know -- love and lust is great and works for a while. you get it out of your system. but the question is, are you guys a good fit for each other (at this time in your life)? all the problems you listed which were in need of a solution since "day 30" alludes to the negative. There are lots of quality women out there. She too has to weigh the cost of moving to you. if the obvious answer hasnt naturally occured over the course of 6 months, move on friend. dont torture yourself on this.

If you guys arent in a place to make changes in your love life because of children -- id say that makes you the number one man in one "young lady's" life -- your daughter. Seriously, dont put the pussy on the pedestal. Someone should pat you on the back for not leaving your daughter.
