Any data can be manipulated to show what ever you want. But several things are very clear to me in what I've seen while riding. 1. Not wearing gear will increase you chance of dying or being seriously injured in an accident and most cruiser riders don't wear proper gear. 2. Driving in more populated areas with greater traffic increases you chance of being hit by another driver no matter who is at fault. 3. Exceeding your abilities while riding on the road or in the dirt increases your chance of having an accident. So given these factors ATGATT, riding within your abilities and staying away from busy roads decreases your chances of being hurt or killed on a motorcycle.

I stopped drinking at about 34. Just in time to watch my dad die of alcoholism. I figure I have enough bad habits without that one to add to the list. Besides I enjoy riding to much to screw it up by drinking.

We all appreciate your voice on what is a huge dispute in the US, but most of us are in fact ATGATT (all the gear all the time) riders. For too many it's about image not riding safely. In some cases such as this one it is poor judgement that results in the worst case senerio. I feel badly for the couple that paid the ultimate price but we need to learn from their mistakes. Ride smart, ATGATT, and be ready for anything at all times.

As with riding in most bad weather I'm more scared of the idiot on 4 wheels than I am my ability to ride it on 2.

this is the worst i think I've riden in. the day before Feb 12th was beautifull and 60 degrees so we rode down into the hills to do some offroading and camp out. It rained that night and then snowed about 5 inches. So there was a thick coating of Ice under the snow making it very slick. Rode 40 miles out of the hills back to Caldwell of I-77 where I had my truck and warmth!

I ride year around. I usually have to wipe the bike down regularly with WD40 or used motor oil when it gets below freezing to inhibit rust from the salt but it can be done.
