No ATGATT Yes Riding after dark No Highways No Passengers Yes

I guess that's as good an analogy of the Strom as any.
-
She didn't even hand the kids her beer and say, "Hey everyone watch this!"
-
Yeah, I saw the museum on my way through town. Someplace to really sink your teeth into.
-
Butterface??? The Strom is it's a relativly bullet broof bike that is really comfortable for a big tall guy like me. It'll get over 100 pretty easy but tops around 135. I don't need to go that fast anyways. As for offroad it is top heavy, a little low in the center and requires some rider skill to manuver it effectivly but I havn't had a problem on gravel keeping up with my BMW GS1200 friends. I have mine up one tooth on the counter sprocket for more low end power and a better power band at highway speeds. It still gets about 45mpg but makes sixth gear far more usable.

Don't know about rice rockets but a lot of times on offroad bikes you can run a piece of film or other non abrasive materail inside the seal to get debris out that is causing the leak. Half the time the fork seal is okay, it is just debris traped under it that allows fluid to sneak past. Seems worth a try if you can get at the fork seal.

Over on Adv Rider we have a game called photo tag. It's great fun and gets you to ride some areas you might not otherwise explore. Like today, I reasearched the clues to the current location and thought I had it down in Adams County. So about 12:30 I took off down rt38 to Washington Courthouse and then down rt41. Up till Bainbridge it was lots of the same straight roads. But 41 South of Brainbridge if marked (scenic), it should be marked (fun!). If I had a choice between 555 and rt41 after today I'd choose rt41 simply because of the condition of the roads, soft well graded turns, yet fun to sweep through even at legal speeds! Well, to make a log story short my research turned up zero. But I had a lot of fun down in Adams county exploring the back roads and even a little offroading. On the way home I flew up rt73 which was also not half bad for some fun turns and whoopties to fly off as you rolled over. Sometime I'll have to get a shot of the V-strom air born on one of these. So next time you are trying to think of a fun area to ride try Adams county.

Went out again Sunday to the Tar Hollow area with friends to explore some more trails. I love that area, every time you think you've explored all of it a new trail pops up! Video of some of Sundays ride. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDG-B-0IbCo

I knew I'd seen someone looking. Link to thread with a ninja I saw today on CL. http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?t=30130

I was looking at CL and saw this. Somewhere there was someone asking about an inexpensive starter bike. Don't know this guy or true condition of the bike but sounds like something worth checking out if you're looking. http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/1257653641.html

Welcome, there are some fun areas locally to ride in the South and South East. I ride a KLR and have a V-strom dl1000 like you. I have done some adventure touring but the economy is making me stay mostly local this year. To bad you didn't bring the XT north with you. Lots of fun dual sport rides this year.

What an excellent weekend of riding I had! Friday cruising on the V-strom from Plain City to West Liberty to Marysville to Delaware on back roads. Saturday on the 426 at the Dayton Enduro Riders Club with friends. We practiced our tight radius turns, played around and riding through tight trails. Sunday I was off to Vinton County to scout trails with my friends on the KLR. Tons of slick mudy trails and creek beds to explore! I wanna do it again!!!

I had a friend who got a Sportster. First time we went riding she told me she had trouble making Left turns. I couldn't figure out why till I saw how big the bike was for her. When she would go to turn left the throttle moved out of her reach!

At least he's mostly on his side of the yellow. Can't say the same for the cars that travel through there.

Reminds me of Highschool shit. Who said what about me? Oh, I'll scratch their eyes out. It's simple, if you agree with someones comments +1 them. If not dunk their head in the toilet and give them a swirly!

Went out to Dayton enduro riders club today for some trail time around 9am. I passed three cruisers on the way there with their radar going full tilt! On the way home, about 4:00, I passed two wolf packs using laser and pointing for people to pull over, and at least five rolling SHP cruisers shooting radar intermitantly and several Sheriff cars hiding at on ramps. I'm home for the rest of the night but I can only imagine that by tonight there will be more SHP, Sheriffs and LPD cars out than citizens vehicles!

Better that MJ, Beat It. How about Billy Idol (Rebel Yell), George Therogood (Bad to the Bone) or Aldo Nova (Monkey on your back)? I know I'm a geek

For today July 4th cops are located in the following areas..... EVERYWHERE!!!

Black jacket, black helmet, black bike? That was me dressed for safety. On the plus side the V-strom has one of the brightest stock headlight setups around. So if you didn't see me from behind you surely will see me coming!
-
I was on my way home from Powell tonight and just happened to have the Helmet Cam running. I-270 Near Cemetary rd. Guy really rolled the car good! I didn't see where anyone else was involved. You can see him leaning on the hood of the SHP cruiser towards the end. Amazing he wasn't hurt worse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5FrFWAdoB0 BE CAREFUL OUT THERE THIS WEEKEND!

So are they allowing people access to that area still or will they close it off and reduce the riding area a little but further?
-
RIP for your friend. Use this as a way to reevaluate your own riding habits. Don't let his lose be in vain. We all ride our own rides and make our own judgement calls on how we ride.

To the tool box on the white GSXR100 and OSU tee on 270...

I laugh when I hear the surprise in peoples voice about people lane splitting at high speeds and being wreckless on Ohio roads. I'm NOT saying it's right but having been in California-stan for work a few years back you see some REALLY crazy shit! I suppose it is slowly moving this way and we can expect to see more and more of it. On another note, don't take the law into your own hands by trying to scare or swerve into someone driving like this. YOU are making yourself liable for wreckless opp or worse yet Vehicular Homicide should you cause them to wreck and they die. AMA still states that lane splitting is not covered under Ohio laws, but also says' that it can be considered wreckless operation. I Do lane split at times when doing so allows me to get away from a bad situation. Nothing like being trapped behind a blue hair who won't pass an 18wheeler with 15 mad driver pilling up behind you. In cases like that I'd rather risk a ticket than become a smear on the road. -
A couple other songs Symphany of Destruction Megadeath Song 2 Blur Force ten Rush Working Man Rush Brackish Kittie Run to The Hills Iron Maiden I, however, never ride with music, but that does not mean I'm not playing the song in my head. I find actual music distracting but find carrying a good tune in my head to give me focus and helps time the corners.

Just a reminder. Even if you are an experienced rider taking the MSF return rider course can give you up to 25% off your insurance price. In one year I repayed the class three times over. V-strom 1000 $400/yr KLR 650 $150/yr YZ 426 $76/yr
