  1. Yes, shinny side up....... unless your on a dirt bike. Finding something shinny on a dirt bike can become frustrating! When your ready to do an evening ride let me know and I'll see if I can shot up for a tour. Maybe we can get some other Central Ohioans will show up too?
  2. If the level drops below the pickup I bet the pressure will drop too!
  3. My dogs chase the bikes when I ride around the yard, lucky they havn't caught me yet. lol
  4. I use a VIO POV helmet cam, not cheap but you get what you pay for I'v found. The u-tube link below has a bunch of offroad video I've shot with it. The rear footage is just a video camera mounted to a bolt on the lugage rack. Ergo the vibration even with an isolator.
  5. I suddenly have the urge to encourage "some people" to ride without a jacket or helmet. It's like human shake and bake! Especially the Red Incredible hulk. Talk about the roid rage poster child.
  6. Yep, that's pretty gay. Another case of HDMe2 Virus.
  7. Welcome. Looks like you spend a lot of time up near "Mac and Cheese Castle".
  8. Talk about shit faced! WTF, do it yourself home spray on tan kit?
  9. Being cautious is good, but the only way to become a better rider is to get out and ride! Pick an area your familiar with, plan your route and get the gear on. Robinson rd along the Darby creek heading towards North Lewisberg is nice.
  10. +1 I got to watch my dad go thru it on one side of his face as a kid. After six months he still would hit pieces of glass in his cheek bone with a razor as he shaved. Left an impression on me about gear. Lucky he at least had a half face helmet, gloves and jean jacket. Back in the early 80's that was "gear".
  11. A little diffrent but I had a buddy who taught MSF style classes over seas while in the army. Some of the guys were real tough guys about not needing gear. He asked them about who they new that would wipe their asses when they went down with no gloves. They all started wearing gloves in class afterwords. lol So who'll wipe your ass when you can't reach because your arms are covered in road rash? This guy should have asked that too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_A_2ZDe5Y0
  12. Hope to be another +1 soon. Usualy I balance my own on the Strom as it's not super fast but weight balancing them isn't getting it this time. :-( So is the balancer high speed or something? Just curious what sort of equipment your using.
  13. Honestly I know very few people who don't wear ATGATT. Those I know do seem to be more worried about their image (how they look) than if it's safe or not. The main thing is once you need gear, it's too late to put it on. Tourtech makes a mesh jacket with seperate zip in rain and insulated liners. It is great for hot summer weather where you get 90 degree days and 60 degree nights! I got mine at IP for $140. It kept me cool in the bad lands and warm in the rockies. :-)
  14. If it means I can spend $$$ on fun bike stuff instead of stupid medical bills, then yep! Big Sissy! Ride smarter not necessarily harder.
  15. 05' V-max said nothing about it other than seen dealer mechanic. I tried everything even filling to the top of the site glass. Just plain old bad engineering on that. No matter though I no longer have the V-max, it became the V-strom.
  16. If it was a V-max I'd be more worried when the dam light wasn't on! LOL I went through more YAMA tecks trying to understand why they would put the oil sensor in the front of the pan so that everytime you got on it heavy the oil level light came on. The best was when Competition Accessories told me the way to resolve the problem was to run 20W50 so it wouldn't "slosh" around so much. They were smoking way too many illegal drugs and drinking on the job!
  17. 2 tall? No such thing. But then I'm 6'4" so I've never met a woman taller than me, although I hear they exist.
  18. Don't know what it weighs but it seemed to be about 15 to 20lbs? We're also working on a engine guard for my V-Strom too. A racoon destroyed the stock one. LOL
  19. Criticism welcome. If he doesn't hear the negative views he'll never know what people are looking for. Believe it or not it is very strong and stable. But because it is large and gives great leverage it makes lifting the bike very easy.
  20. I guess first it's solid steel bar, second the bolts are 10mm off the bike I keep in my spare parts bag, third he's selling them for $50 and last it's a lot taller than store bought lifts. As unemployeed folks, it's try to be imaginative or starve. So I'm just trying to help a friend out by showing this. He does other welding and fab work too. I''l try to get his website address.
  21. So I got bored today and went into town to hang with my friend at his shop. While we were talking he pulled this stand out he made for his CBR1000. We got curious and yep, it worked on the Vstrom too! I think he'd be interested in selling them if anyone else wants one. Being unemployeed sucks.
  22. Picky Picky. Are you certain none of the parts on your bike were made in China and sold to Japan? My friend was rebuilding a HD and found several parts stamped made in China. Oh, the pain of it all.

    MJ!

I made it out for a short ride, streets have mostly all dried up out here. Wonder if we'll get more rain tonight?
  24. MSF declares formal HDMe2 fever pandemic 3:54 pm ET 06/11/2009The Motorcycle Safety Foundation on Thursday declared the HDMe2 fever a pandemic, the first official pandemic declaration in 7 years. At a press conference Thursday afternoon, MSF announced it is raising its pandemic alert level to 6, its highest level. The agency had had the alert level set at 5 for several weeks. "Further spread of the disease is inevitable," MSF Director- Margaret Chan told reporters at a media briefing. An official pandemic means that the agency has observed sustained human-to-Bike transmission of the fever, also referred to as the Hog flu, in more than one major geographical region. MSF officials said Thursday that it had observed such transmission in North America, South America and Australia. The last official pandemic was declared in 2002 for the so-called Hong Kong flu, which is believed to have caused about 1 million Crotch Rockets worldwide. The official declaration is a signal to member nations to put their various pandemic control plans into action, such as the distribution of low gas prices and the implementation of the Highway patrol. Despite Thursday's declaration, MSF officials said they did not see a need to recommend city travel restrictions such as interstate closures. The agency has said in the past that it regards such measures as largely ineffective once a bike has been sold globally. As of Thursday, 74 nations had reported 28,774 Hog Fever cases, including 144 deaths, according to the MSF Web site. Most of the cases have been reported in the U.S. and Mexico. As of June 4, the AMA received reports of 13,217 confirmed and suspected cases of the disease, including 27 deaths, according to the AMA's site. Many of the victims had underlying medical problems that complicated their conditions, such as being stupid, poor eyesight or being really old. AMA on Thursday also warned nations that have already seen widespread outbreaks of Hog Fever to brace themselves for a second, possibly more severe, wave of infections. The agency also noted that while relatively few deaths have been linked to the fever, the disease was unusual in that it appeared to be infecting mostly old people, with many of the reported deaths occurring in idiots or drunk people. In comparison, the seasonal bike fever generally kills up to 500,000 each year, with Young Urban Professionals and the elderly being most vulnerable. MSF officials again asserted that they were concerned the fever might mutate over time into a more lethal illness. They are also concerned that the world might be facing three potentially deadly flu bugs this fall: Cruiser Cold; HDMe2, Hog Fever; and Crotch Rocket flu, or Rice Rocket fever usually coming from Asia. The Rice Rocket fever, which so far has been relatively difficult to contract, has shown itself to be particularly deadly. AMA maintains a pandemic alert level of 3 on the viral strain, which originated in Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki riders in America. Several vaccine makers have been working to develop a vaccine against the virus.
