  1. Don't like the dogs on the bikes - the anthropomorphism looks too amateurish. Had to stare at red/orange for a while to figure out if that was his arms crossed, or a.. Oh, it's wheel... I only figured that out from the second one (rightmost in the top group of 3 - the one with Hilliard, OH in it. That one gets my vote)
  2. I figured ADT would have to announce they were watching in some way.
  3. http://www.10tv.com/content/stories/2012/02/08/dublin-police-surveillance-company-alerted-authorities-to-alleged-sex-act.html Cliffs: Man gets ADT-style cameras installed in his home. Called them for tech support. Started fondling a boy in his bed while waiting for tech support to contact him. Tech support logged into the cameras unannounced to fix the problem he reported. They saw him fondling the boy. Police get called...
  4. Depends on how the kid was carried. 5-10mph in a subdivision is different than 30mph on a main road. Did the kid have ANY gear on at all? 30mph on a bike for a 3yr old with street clothes on is asking for trouble. Buddy of mine used to take his kids upa dn down the subdivision on his bike at under 10mph but they had some semblance of gear (knee pads, elbow pads, gloves and bicycle helmet)
  5. If you think crap won't kick off in Western countries think of the UK riots last year. Homes and businesses were robbed an looted with no fear of the already overstretched police. Couple of ventilated looters would have put an end to that shit pretty quick.

Creeped me the FUCK out. Loved how they stayed within their ability to do special effects well - no overreliance on new un-polished CG - it was all tried and true techniques, well executed. The acting was surprisingly good for a film on SyFy. All in all a great film. Stuck with me all day, still creeped out by the concept - that's when I know a film has done its job. Oh, and if you want a good creepy film that is not gory or too heavy on unconvincing special effects then try "Dark Water", the US version (Japanese film originally, kinda like The Ring was stolen from Ringu). Of course I had the ending figured out by 5 mins into the film, but it was well-paced (in a jaws kind of way, lots of theatrical foreplay - not dazzling you with their best special effects in the first 2 minutes)
  8. I'm taking my vstrom and some spare gas. I'm not planning for the mad max scenario - I'm thinking Katrina or LA riots. Throw some knobby tires on the strom and I can go cross country or in/around/between the gridlocked cars. If I can't find regular civilization within 1000 miles (the range I could carry gas cans for) then the strom becomes a source of parts for things like a generator/wind turbine/ electrical power to start fires etc.

    Still, in 2009?
  13. Does that look like a new car to you? Looks like early 70s to me.
  14. And that video is NOT in youtube because of WHY?
  15. If attached to a harley then the gun must be labelled "Screamin' Eagle"* cost 5x what more modern competitors charge, for 1900s technology. And leak. *Have you ever hear an Eagle's scream? No, you haven't. Eagles make a stupid noise, blips and beeps - sounds like the notification you get on your cellphone when text message arrives. So they always swap the audio with the menacing banshee-screech of a Red-Tail Hawk for dramatic effect.
  16. Presumably not YOU passing HIM.
  17. Here we go again - Just because it's written in some book that one religion believes (despite it having been changed, redacted, translated and reinterpreted many times over history) the rest of us have to blindly follow it. Plus that's old testatment, nobody follows that*. I had said earlier that "Marriage is a religious concept" because that is the argument that the religious folks have against equal rights. And I agree that a religion should not be forced to marry two people they don't want to marry... But in that same post I said that MONOGAMY is not a religious concept. From a purely anthropologic perspective, monogamy is almost ubiqitous. There are rare cultures that practice patriachal polygamy (Based upon their religion! Islam, Mormonism) and even rarer cultures that practice matriachal polygamy... If anyone thinks that monogamy is an invention of Christianity then I'd like to hear their explanation for why so may cultures that have never been exposed to the Bible are monogamous. * I had a debate with somone one time and mentioned a couple sections of the Bible that detail some pretty horrific things about treating women as property and stoning them under certain circumstances, such as if they are victims of rape. I also pointed out that any christian male who has had a vasectomy is barred from heaven. The response? "That's all old testament - we don't believe that stuff any more." "What, So you don't believe in Creationism?"
  18. How do I safely surrender these tanks? Taken them down to a welding supply store?
  19. I just remembered that my neighbor left me his oxy setup but not the wand. I have tanks, regulators, gauntlets, mask and hoses. I can pick up a new wand. I do recall he said that I would not be able to get the tanks filled, but I don't recall why. Dunno if they are too old or what. I could just buy tanks outright.
  20. Way to turn a compliment into an F-U. Can't you be happy that he did something you agree with and leave it at that, at least for a minute or two?
  21. Because "Marriage" is a religious institution? That's why people get married in churches. To clarify, before the flame storm... I don't think that we should force CHURCHES to bestow the RELIGOUS rights and resonsibilities of marriage on people that they don't want to. However, the concept of a monogamous relationship was NOT invented by any religion. I 100% support that all couples should have access to the SECULAR benefits and responsibilities of marriage (joint taxes, next-of-kin rights, joint/marital property, spousal benefits for insurance).
  22. According to an appeals court in California. U.S. Supreme Court next?
  23. Why would you give soldiers combat pay if they are not in a combat zone?
  24. Tell me about it. I had my son watch Jurassic Park. he asked when it was made - nearly 20 years ago. "Look at the moving pictures, sonny boy..."
