Generally, the Judge has discretion to order that jail sentences for multiple crimes arising from the same criminal endeavor be served consecutively or concurrently. It's an additional tool that the judge has to tailor the punishment. If he feels the crimes have low individual maximums then he may rule the sentences be served consecutively - ie One at a time, in series. Or, as in this case, the judge may feel that the sentences can be served concurrently (all at the same time, in parallel). Or it could be a mix. Example, if a man points a gun at two people and is convicted of two counts of assault and one count of carrying a concealed weapon... His sentence might be 2 years for each assault count and 6 months for the concealed weapons charge. He may order the assault counts to be served concurrently and the weapons charge to be consecutive, meaning an effect 2.5 years in jail. (Of course the prosecutor could add a gun specification of 1-3 years too, but the judge would account for that also) I have seen one case where a man was sentenced to 3 years for felony theft in one Ohio county, and then was sentenced to 3 years for felony theft in another county about a month later. Both theft crimes happened the same day and the second judge ordered that HIS 3 years be served concurrently with the first county's sentence. I guess he thought that 6 years was too much for a $2500 theft. There are limits to the judge's discretion... A Municipal Court Judge can only order a maximum of 6 months for a single crime (M1) and (I think) 18 months for multiple crimes heard together. If I vandalize 5 cars (M3, 60 days max each count) then the judge cannot order me to be jailed for 2.5 years, even though 5x6mo=2.5yr

I know. Sorry! If my brother, sister-in-law or father saw that video they'd cuff and stuff me just out of principle. I'm am neither pro or anti-police. I judge all situations individually regardless of badge. However I do have a better-than-average understanding of how the justice system works, how criminal law works and some of the realities of police work (from a civillian's limited perspective) As such, I tend to fall on the side of support the officer in the overwhelming majority of cases because I think that that same proportion of the police do their jobs as they're trained and do it well. Of course there are exceptions as with any profession. I'll be the first to point out if I thinkt he cop is wrong - but I'll be the frist to point out when he's right too. Dunno if we have any cops on here, we must have a couple by law of averages. Next range meet I expect to get tazed in the balls a couple of times. Better than shooting my self in the balls (Had to beat Kawi to that...)

Seriously. I'm gonna quit may day job and just drive around filming the police... (Makes ya think - how much money did Rebecca Black make from adsensing "Friday"?)

Oscar Mike Foxtrot Golf I just logged back into adsense. They are gonna send me a check for $509 at the end of the month... But that was for November. That doesn't include december yet. As of yesterday, halfway through the month, they show over 600 in earnings so far this month alone. Am I reading this right?? So at the end of Oct I had earned $99.xx in my adsense account. In Nov I crossed over the $100 payment threshold, so they are now going to make a payment. BUT the video that is getting most of my hits is reaching viral proportions. $419.xx in Nov alone. That, plus the that slowly accumulated up to Oct, equals the $509 which is what they are sending me this month. Now they are saying the december earning to date are $605.xx Shit, my head is spinning. How do you make money like this from ads on a stupid video? I mean I'm not gonna be buy any mansions soon, but still...

I have no clue how Kentucky handles judicial release. While I would have supported more jail time, I do think 2 years and a felony conviction is an acceptable plea deal considering nobody got hurt. It sends the message out that bullying a bike with a 4-wheeler CAN get you years in jail. Of course very few will heed that message...

The reason I was confident in my source is I got my info from the journalist who wrote that article ^^

I believe my source.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they blow it up and it's harmless then they are the bad guys. If the DON'T blow it up and it's real, then they are the bad guys. As for blowing it up - I've seen on a documentary that one technogue is a water gun. Water in a gun barrel with blank behind it. The water distintegrates it quickly, with lower risk of setting off the explosives. The geocaching crew needs to use transparent cases.

Isn't an ammo container metal?

Of course if some kid drew that in class then it would be a "threat" and their zero intelligen... er.. zero tolerance policy would see the kid getting expelled.

Friend of mine tried to do soemthing like that in a German hotel about 20 years ago. Right after he landed face-down he figured out that the king-size bed was actually two twin beds with a solid wooden ridge between the two, but made up with a king-size sheet. We honestly thought he would have to go to the hospital, judging by the way he was walking... (Then we figured out he was too stupid to allow to breed, so we figured he could take a chance with fate)

I have long advocated a law (there's that horrible word again, but hear me out...) where stores could only use pictures of ACTUAL FOOD THEY MAKE. The heath inspector (or secret shopper or whoever) should randomly go into stores, order a burger, take the most flattering picture possible of that burger... and the store has to use THAT picture on their menu.

Hot off the press! You're getting this before it even hits the news websites... Sentenced to 2 years.
-
His sentencing hearing was yesterday, and the online court record shows no more upcoming events (suggesting the sentencing went ahead and the case has now been completed) But their court records don't show the disposition. Local news down there hasn't reported a disposition yet - however they DID report that he has been out on bond since his original arrest. I had hear he was being held awaiting trial. Hmmm... Either way, he can expect a sentence of ~2 years total (with credit for time served, whether that be days or months). How much he actually serves is anyone's guess.

Meh. I could afford to lose a few inches and still be bigger than your thumbtack.
-
Meh, I get something like .001 cents per hit. If everyone here saw it once I might make 5 cents
-
What if he blows a kiss back and offers to show me his "nightstick".

They won't let me enter $0.0001 into my online bill pay. If you read the comments I spend most of my time defending the cop - just wished he'd have been more polite. But some of the commenters out there are just nasty. I delete multiple comments a day that say things like; "You should just shoot that cop in the face" and stuff like that. I can't keep up any more. Still, I stoke the fires every now and then buy fighting the anti-police sentiment - just winds them up more and they come back to post more rhetoric. = More hits, more adsense money. "You should murder that cop" "Cops do a great job, just this one flunked PR 101" "OMGWTFBBQ I'LL EAT YOUR BABIES FOR SAYING THAT!!!"

What kind of pistol you you like? Glock? Or MT's XD? I will buy one of those for myself with the money I got from whining like a bitch, just to piss you off.

9 months after monetizing my youtube account I only reached $99. This one video just blew up this month. It's nuts. I'd have thought the video catching the mailman peeing on my house, or the repair techs joyriding in my Subaru would have been the money earners - but no. All it took was me being a butt-hurt pansy about a gruff cop. Who knew? My account is a little over 508. I need to get my ass pulled over and get the cop to taze me. Ride the lightning once or twice and get a couple grand from adsense. "My insurance card? It's in your momma's panties. You should have asked me sooner, I was in there about an hour ago, could have picked it up for you then. BZZZZZZZ" "You know, as many times as I've done your momma, you should be calling me Dad by now. BZZZZZZZZZ"
-
They call it "monetization" and I got an invite from Google based upon the number of views my videos were getting. You have to own the copyright on the video. No 3rd party content. For each video you have to fill out a declaration that you own the copyright etc.

So I have my youtube account set up with Google adsense. People watch my videos, call me a no-life loser for recording all my bike/car journeys. I post this one video a couple years ago called "How to annoy the highway patrol without really trying" (below) It's not a serious video. Just an encounter with a cop who was a little rude with me. I whine like a little girl with hurt feelings. Lots of people arguing about how bad cops are, how much of a loser I am. And I keep getting into the arguments, goading people on. Stirring the pot. But here's the kicker. Adsense is counting every hit. Video has gotten 500k hits this month alone. And I just got my adsense check. $409. For this month alone. There's gold in them thar hills. Is this a $500 video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWDju_muw3g

Riding through upstate new york one time... My GPS was set to skip toll roads so it sent me on about 100 miles of hocking hills-type roads. Which is all well and good, except the bike I had at the time had a fuel range of 125 miles. I tanked up just before the crazy roads so I made it out the other side, but ONLY JUST. Tank capacity of 4.8 gallons and I swear I put 4.7 in there when I got to the next gas station. Fun roads to ride but was nervous because I had no desire to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with no gas, shelter, camping supplies... or cellphone reception.
