    New helmet

My HJC Symax-II flip-face helmet was fine for about 8 months until the latch on both size of the chinbar broke loose making it impossible to flip up the helmet. Luckily I refused to buy a flip-face that I couldn't remove while the chinbar was locked down... That was a $310 helmet at the time. To rpelace it I considered a few. One called dragon or something like that had 4 display models and 2 of them had broken chinbars. I tried the Nolan flip-face but couldn't rmeove it with the chinbar down. There were a couple of $150 helmets (one with a LED in the back of the helmet) but I didn't liek the cheap feel. I settled on the Shoei Multitec modular helmet. The warranty credit from the Symax meant I only paid about $150 new money for it. It's MUCH quieter than the symax. The thing feels more solid without being heavy. It doesn't have the sun visor but I didn't like the HJC's sun visor because it only came down to the middle of my eyes anyway. Plus fiddling with the controls while moving is dangerous until you get used to it. The Shoei does a much better job to staying defogged. My morning ride was visor-down all the way. The HJC would require me to have the visor open one click for riding and fully open at a stop light. Got mine from iron pony, cost about 450mph. Always like going to the pony.
  6. Both my Suzukis do that. When going 1-2 you gonna make sure you pull the shift lever good and solid or it can click back into neutral. Maybe you have the shift lever adjusted too high to pull it up all the way?
  7. "I can see you from a mile away." Me: "Yeah, until you get in your car. That's when you cram your head right up your ass right before you hit the gas."
  8. My experience has been exactly the opposite. As soon as it warmed up enough for the fair-weather bikers I saw less and less safety gear. I have seen maybe two Harley riders WITH helmets - all the rest are relying on hair for head protection. Seen plenty of 2-up sportbikes where the passenger has a lid but the driver is not. And the obligatory helmet-strapped-to-the-bike-instead-of-on-the-riders-head once or twice. My experience has been that the bikes with hard cases invariably have well geared-up riders. Any sport touring, adventure touring etc type bike like the Strom / BMW / 'wing / Connie type bikes.
  9. I'm gonna have to disagree with your disagreement. The point he was making is that even supposedly intelligent people can be dumbasses. You can get a degree from college, but Common Sense is something you have to figure out on your own. Some people just don't.
  10. I was thinking maybe dripping some gasoline into the cut.
  11. Looks like I nailed it.
  12. Someone missed post #39... http://ohioriders.net/showpost.php?p=674331&postcount=39
  13. That's what she... Sorry...
  14. The most annoying are the people who say; "Oh, you ride a bike? My (friend/relative/colleage) lost their (arm/leg/life) on a bike."
  15. Keep the burns. After the first few minutes my finger quit hurting and now it's just a little sore. It's funny to see how grossed out people get.
  16. 1-- No clue. Never worn one out. 2-- Just ride easy. I've had two brands new bikes with brand new tires. It's not like they're covered in grease. Just don't go anywhere near the limit for a while. Or ever, really. 3-- It would have to be registered. Not without a VIN. Start with a VIN'ed frame, just keep the vin plate. 4-- 7 years. Still have my first bike. My riding style changed so I got a bike more fitting that style. (commuting and long trips instead of sunday cruising) 5-- No clue, Sorry 6-- When all else fails, a cellphone and a AAA card with bike coverage. Beyond that, the factory toolkit and a tire plug kit should suffice for most stuff.
  17. Smacked my finger with a hammer stapler (they type roofers use for roofing felt) monday. The nail split right in half across the finger and is mostly loose but doesn't want to come off. Had to relieve some pressure under the nail... Page down for some PG-rated grossness.
  18. I asked my boy if he wanted to sit in the driver's seat on the bike (we just got back from his school 2-up. Showed him all the controls and let him start the bike up (centerstand lifts the back wheel off the ground). He nearly soiled himself when I had him crank the throttle... Couldn't get the smile off his face for a couple of hours.
  19. Le grande vingt-trois?
  20. Big 4? Sorry about your luck. (My wife's pet name for me is "The Big 9")
  21. Should have told him it's from Norway. See how many people he repeats it to before someone corrects him.
  22. There's a line. About 300 million long.
  23. INVALID QUESTION. (The Real Housewives are already Zombies)
  24. Some people have no common sense. LOL. Did I fixeded it rite?
