  1. Not my first ride of the year, but since it was a nice day I thought I would finally get over to check out Lewis Wetzel's grave and take in a couple of my favorite SEO and WV roads in the process.About as good as it gets for February.Ended up with 294 miles.Gas was $1.34 in Old Washington and the 208 exit on I70.

  2. I would move to California in a second. If someone offered me a job that payed well enough where I could almost live comfortably, I'd be gone in a flash.

I'm heading that way between the 1st and the 15th of March.I'm in the process of buying a toy hauler, loading up two bikes and heading to the North bay area.I go out there about every 2-4 years, usually spend about 5 months and head home.Since I'll have the toyhauler this time I'm planning on staying much longer...1-2 years or longer and possibly hit other western states.Just live in the RV/Toyhauler.

That was a great post you made concerning your bike and new out look on life.A lot of positive wisdom in what you said.Enjoy!

  3. If I had to do engine work on a bike at 45,000 I would never buy another bike from that brand. My '03 FJR has 100,004 miles on it,my '13 FJR has 42,500 on it and we'll be heading to California as so as the weather beaks.Neither has had engine work done on them.

150,000 to 200,000 is not all that unusual for an FJR,or any big sport-tourer for that matter.

Let's not even get started on Gold Wings.

  4. Awesome find. Going to check them out to be sure but it looks legit. Bet we can get OR to affiliate.

I 'm not sure but I think this is an outgrowth of the fjr assist list that has been around since 2006.I just took a look at it over on the FJR Forum and I noticed bungie is taking care of it now. He's a good guy,we've rode together several times in SEO.

  5. +1 for Nor Cal. I'm out there almost yearly for a few weeks in Napa Valley and Sacramento. Some amazing stuff out there.

Funny the lady and I are planning a trip out that way now. Hoping to hit some of San Diego as well.

Do you have bike out there when you visit Northern California?Have you been able to ride/explore the Napa area?

  6. Arizona 191 from Alpine to Morinzi is a MUST DO road.Definitely in the top 5 best roads I have been on in America, probably number 2 behind highway 1 in California.

Also, don't miss Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico,an amazing cave system with a scale beyond imagination.

A little out of your way but 74 in California from Desert Palm to Helmet is good.Hell, just take a couple more months and ride around California.

    But seriously...don't miss 191.

  7. My finding is that Aerostich are the only pants that won't leak...Over the years i've had pretty much everything else with Firstgear HT overpants running second. All the rest will eventually leak starting in the crotch :(  which never dries out...

That being said I wear shorts under mine in the heat, and unzip the top part of the leg zipper for air, I ride a lot including being in 100+ degree temps out west, and it works great for me.

I was going to suggest Aerostitch also, but I only have experience with their R-3 one piece suit.

You can get waterproof and cool wearing protection at the same time,it just costs more.Aerostitch is one of those products that are initially more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

  8. I'm just looking around right now,but these are two of my front runners as a lighter weight corner carver to augment the FJR and KLR.I usually look at bikes that fit all my riding needs-long distance, all weather conditions-but this purchase is going to be just for twisty roads close to home(usually) in good weather.

    Thoughts?

  9. I hate to see Ohio State lose, but if anyone is going to beat them I glad that it's Michigan State since Dantonio is a hometown boy. He's probably the best college defensive coach in the country.

As for the Haters...go ahead and hate, enjoy it while you can since you get so few chances.

  10. Correct. The Spanish Inquisition is one of the worst things that has ever happened in history.

Yea,right up there with what white Americans did to the American Indians in the name of greed and capitalism.Of course American slavery was just a run of the mill atrocity in the history of atrocities for greed and power.

The love of money is the root of all evil. Many times religion is just a tool of people seeking wealth and power.

  11. I thought the people who payed to get this on the ballot went about it the hard way.Don't put the monopoly clause in the bill.If they wanted a monopoly why didn't they do it the old fashioned way...get the law passed and then pay off a few politicians. It's been working for centuries.

  12. With the passing of issue 2 and the two to one failure of issue 3 it is pretty obvious that the monopoly clause killed issue 3.This not rocket science...take out the monopoly b.s.,study California,Colorado,A-day and anywhere else it's legal and craft a reasonable free market bill and the election return numbers will be reversed.
