What is the point of inciting bullshit and protesting? Seriously, what good has ever come from a group of protesters.

Off the top of my head....the founding of America, stopping the war in Viet Nam earlier, freeing India from British rule,a giant leap forward in equal rights in for blacks in America....just a few.

    Interesting

According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, 93 percent of black homicides were indeed committed by other blacks and 84 percent of white homicides were committed by other whites.

Not all that interesting...people usually kill the people they have the most interaction with.Kind of like most people die in crashes within 10 miles of their home.

Rode 536, 556 two weeks ago.  Kent's assessment of 536 is unfortunately very accurate. Painful to ride even on the sumo.  556 is patched and a bit rough in places but overall not bad if your careful. Almost no truck traffic now. Have ridden it 5-6 times this year.

drc32, you my want to check to see if proctor ridge/Amos hollow is open. They have been announcing on the radio Co. 89 in Marshall Co.(I believe that's proctor ridge rd.)as being closed for repair. May want to check WVDOT website to confirm.

Bridge at 26/260 is open now. Rode 145, 565, 260 to new matamoros last weekend. Good fun as usual.

Heads up.  145 from 145/148 intersection to just outside of Bealsville has been repaved.  Rode it twice last weekend!

    Speed safely!

Thanks for the heads up on 145...that's a fun way to get over to Armstrong Mills and the bottom of recently paved 9.

Proctor Ridge(Creek?) was open but they are working in the area of the switchbacks so it may be closed at other times.

A lot of county/township road paving off of 147 near the town of Key.TR 534 was my favorite,You can pick it up by turning at the gas station in Key,when the road T's turn left,it will take you down to 7.Of course, you could always pick it up on 7,it's marked with a sign.

A lot of fresh pavement has been laid on 250. It did have a bit of gravel though. My guess is give it a few weeks and the gravel from the berms should hopefully be gone. I agree 250 is awesome and I had rode it in the past when it had 3 inch drops in the middle of the road. Definitely none of that at this point.

Thanks for the info on 250!I rode it from Fork Ridge(about 10 miles South of Moundsville) to Hundred yesterday. It's in great shape the whole way, although gravel is stills a concern in a lot of corners.

but all the fracking monies... where has the fracking monies gone?

If you're talking about 536 being torn up,be patient,it won't be long until it's back to its former glory. In the mean time there are plenty of other good roads to ride. That's the good thing about SEO...every year ODOT paves some more good roads so there is always some good new routes and you don't have to get tired of riding the same old stuff.

  6. ...and if you're really adventurous and have the time...cross the bridge in Hannibal,go 5 miles North on WV 2 and take a right onto Proctor Ridge road. You'll know it,it has a caution sign,"Curvy Road Next 26 Miles".The section along the creek is a little rough, but once you get through the switchbacks(the bottom switchback is wicked) and up on the ridge you'll have about 16 miles of twisties. At Johnson Ridge you lose the centerline, the road becomes Amos Hollow road, and it becomes much more remote but still good pavement ...think Wild and Wonderful WV.If you follow it about 6 miles it will climb a hill and T into WV 250.Left will take you back to Moundsville.

I think I just talked myself into going over and riding Proctor Ridge tomorrow.

P.S. Good pie at Quinets in New Martinsville.

  7. There's plenty of good stuff in that area to ride instead of 536.147(Centerville to Belaire),9(Armstrong Mills to St Clairsville) and most of 26 (Woodsfield to 148) are all fun and paved last year.

  8. I noticed in the money. CNN  link there was another link titled  " The Trickle Down Theory Is Dead Wrong"Another Reagan era conservative lie proven wrong.

Add 149 and 147 near Bridgeport to your to do list.  148 near Powhatan Point and 255 near Sardis.  Basically just run S's...up 147, down 149...7 to 148 then back down 255 then 7 to 800 to 26......something like that.

That's what I refer to as Ohio River Pong.

I should have said new to me roads since everyone already knows of these roads, to clarify the posting.

Yea,"new to me " might have been more accurate, but its good to hear someone's excitement at discovering these roads,it reminds me of when I first rode them.Keep digging...there's a lot more hidden gems in SEO,and a lot more smiles when you find them.

Yes. And tone down the 24/7 media coverage. That just help feed the fear the terrorist type attacks try to generate.

But it's entertaining.Electronic media is about entertainment,it isn't about news.I'm still waiting for the Fox News swimsuit edition.

I don't think I could commute in big city bullshit traffic everyday. I don't have that kind of patience to deal with idiots.

The idiots are just part of the big city driving frustration. The traffic lights that last forever is enough to drive me nuts!

Does anybody know if 56 has been repaved between 374 and south bloomington (bloomfield?). Thanks.

Sorry,no new pavement from 374 to South Bloomington.New pavement still stops at 374(Ash Cave). It looks like they are getting ready to pave the rest of 278 from Nelsonville to the hill that was paved last year.

I don't know about 56,but if you're heading down this way don't miss 78 from Glouster to Malta.IMO this is the best part of 78 and it was paved late last fall.Big Fun!!!I ride it two or three times a week.

Did I send you a p.m. last fall about some other roads down here that were paved last year?A few of them would be on your way down and easy to include in your route.

I'll try to get down to 56 in the next few days.Anything else you need scouted?

I know all about those 3 inch drops in the middle of 250,that's why it was on my "do not ride" list for the past two years. Now if ODOT gets around to paving 536 this year you could make a great loop out of 147,250,Proctor Ridge and 536.
