Ok, whew, since I've never met anyone in person yet, I figured I was "doing it wrong". ;-) And I thought I was late at 10 minutes past when I said I'd be there! After I left the station, I headed east, took a left on N. Valley Rd and started off with Hilltop Rd. Not much on 35.. Next time!

Hmmm, I need someone to ride dirt with (and somewhere to ride, preferably closer than 2.5 hrs (wayne national forest) would be nice, but I'd go for the day). I don't know jack about dirt/trail riding and would prefer to ride with someone who already does it and would know how to get me unstuck/out of shiznat I get myself into... ;-) Other than that, well, no.

I can't. I've got thing I gotta do. ;-) (family thing). Maybe wednesday evening depending on weather, which looks iffy at the moment. I'd be home and ready to ride for 1.5-2 hrs if we left about 6-ish.

Anyone in or know much about the Dayton MC club? I checked out their website but it doesn't say much about them except for history. -b

DOH! I showed at 11:10 at the Marathon (orchard lane, right?) , got fuel, pulled off to the side to fix the speedo cable (gotta get some locktite!), then headed out. I rode for about 2 hrs toward Cedarville & Cliffton, Xenia etc) then came back home. I'm totally bummed I missed you. I must be doing something wrong that we didn't catch each other. Check the jpg I'm attaching. X marks where I pulled off to the side to fix the speedo cable. Let me know what I'm doing wrong. I'll PM you my digits so we don't miss next time. -b

grr, looks like my wife took the gps today, otherwise I would have stuck it on the bike and followed one of Nick's routes south or north. (but I'm still heading out about 11a)

Yea, I'm heading out at 11am. I'll give the gas station a ride thru to see if anyone else is there. :-)

I love reading older threads. :-D That was great! Now that it's spring, let's see "woman on top" of their bike!

:-) I may take a ride Sunday since I'll have the house to myself most of the day. -b

Sounds like fun. Weather was great but I had to do home project stuff. At least I got the tires on my bike off... Now I just need to buy tire-changing gear and change my own tires, or find a place that does it off-bike for cheap. -b

"let go"... great..

I'll probably end up doing this. Thanks!

Hmm, I'm heading to harbor freight after work but didn't see on on their webpage. The bolt is already off.. I broke the clutch boss while trying to put the nut back on. :-/ (it says 50 foot-pounds torque, but I wonder if they actually meant it.)

Anyone know where I could pick up a clutch basket holding tool (prefer local so I don't have to pay shipping, but if online+shipping is cheaper...)? I'm guessing dealerships will have them for a bunch of bucks... Or, if any SW Ohio (Dayton/Beavercreek area) folks have one I could borrow for 2 minutes to put a new clutch boss on the bike... :-D (the bike is a yamaha xt225) -Brian

A broom? Were you talking with my ex's mother-in-law? She's been known to zoom around...

To the guy on Refugee Rd in Pickerington tonight around 1130p

That wasn't me, but I did go pick up a bike Tuesday evening and ride it back... And boy did it feel good to be out and about. -
What's the rules on riding a bike directly home from a private party sale if I carry the notarized title with me? I've had my license endorsement for several years and am not selling my current bike so I'll be getting new plates for the 'new' bike. I thought about taking the plate off my current bike and temporarily putting it on the new bike only while I ride it home just to help appearances.

Fox, Is there an index of sites, or do you manage to keep this stuff in your head? :-) IE, I'm looking into the same thing in my area (SWO, a little dying town called Dayton) and want to find out if there are other areas nearby, other than just Wayne -b

It always does that, but seems that it recently started doing it even more. Thanks John for the advice about rocking; I try that but it takes quite a bit. I'll remember that. Also, sometimes in the garage I leave it in neutral but that's about it. Siggywiggy, Why Amsoil? How is it different from regular Motorcycle Oil? (Say, Valvoline Motorcycle oil 10w40?) CycleSearch would you suggestion 10w30 for winter riding? (it's got 10w40 in it now.) Thanks everyone, -Brian

I have a 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan EN500c LTD (yes, a cruiser) and am having an issue with the clutch and stiction. I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get rid of it or improve the situation. For example, when the bike is cold, I have to shift the bike into neutral in order to move it. It will not roll in first gear while pulling in the clutch lever. (this also makes roll-starting very difficult.) When the bike is hot and I have just shut it off, I can roll it while in gear with the clutch lever pulled in. After about a minute or so, I have to exert a lot of effort to overcome stiction or I have to put it into neutral. Shifting when first starting up can also be a bit grabby. Last oil/filter change was about 2,500 miles ago with motorcycle oil this past spring. Bike has just over 9,000 miles on it; I bought it about 2 years ago when it had 5400 miles on the odometer. Overall I"m not sure if it's my clutch plates, springs, something else, or if I just need to change the oil more frequently. Anyone have any helpful advice on what to do? Thanks, Brian

attaboy! ;-) I ride almost every day of the week. Pretty much the only exceptions are heavy storms, snow, possibility of ice, picking up something after work that needs car space, or if I feel like shiat (hangover, headache, eye gunk, supersleepy). If more people rode, we'd have less women doing eye makeup or talking on cell phones in their SUV and fewer men eating a bowl of cereal or reading the newspaper in their car.

I'm appreciative that you sent them to me! :-D Hopefully this time it'll work better than having a piece of paper taped to my gas tank (that came off and went bye bye). Now lets just hope the weather is good.
-
I'll probably be out riding unless the weather sucks or the roads are really wet from saturday. I will leave from the Marathon about 10a (yea I know, early for you sleepers). Got a new gps and am going to try to program it with one or two of the routes that Nick sent PM'd me, so if anyone is interested, let me know if I should be looking for ya... -b

Good thing you said you got a dog and not a cat! That'd be one seriously fat cat.

That's because normal people like you and I don't understand the wierdos that do that sick shiat.
