It def sucks for the pets, but is good for me because I'm going to get a doggy soon!!! (from a shelter or local animal-control office. Several places offer free or discounted fixin's for the animals.

Anyone else up for riding tomorrow morning? I'll be leaving from the Beavercreek Marathon on 35 promptly at 11am. If no one show up to lead a known route, I plan on checking out some of the areas/routes NinjaNick sent me.

I edited it so it was more clearly a tease/humorous than a jab. Sometimes irony and humor don't come through very well. And thank you very much for the maps. I know what I'll be doing when I have some time free. Now I really want to get a gps and enter all those waypoints! (my memory can be sucky and I'd hate to miss a good point or two.)

Because you weren't there to show me all the fun ones. :-P I rarely go up toward xenia/springfield so I'm pretty unfamiliar with those roads. Usually I stick with some kind of area between Springboro, Caesar's Creek, Xenia, and Beavercreek.

I left from "the spot" on 35 about 11:10am, over hilltop road, then went out and up 68 to 343 over to cliffton-wilberforce(?) road, then down 42 and through xenia and down 42 some more to spring valley then along 725 to washington-mill road, then back up to 35 and headed home. got home about 12:30. 60 miles total.

Hey y'all, just wondering if anyone is riding today (2009-08-02) at the marathon in beavercreek. I'm gonna pop out there about 10:45a and if no one is out there, probably go for a backroads "whatever" ride. Looks like the weather is going to be cloudy with no rain for the area at 72f. -b

Just found out some in-laws will be in town friday and saturday for my grad party, so I won't be able to make it Saturday. Another time though, or perhaps the sunday ride...

I miss my dual sport. Had a Suzuki dr350se for about 2 years but mostly used it for commuting to/from work and the occasional riding on land I shouldn't. Never had much chance to go ride with people that knew what they were doing. (I think it was generally too big for me anywho, next time I'm gonna look at a 250.) Have fun y'all.

That's what I like too, plus the "country" scenery. I'll do the speed limit or 5 over usually, unless I'm still far slower than everyone else on the highway.

Sounds good, thanks. I haven't been out for a non-commute ride for a couple of weeks. Usually I head south from Beavercreek toward Caesar's creek or east to Xenia and then south, so I miss a lot of East/NorthEast fun.

What's the name of that road? Looking on google maps and they all seem pretty tame.

I don't have a tach either... Someone on the yahoo! EN500 group did the math on gear ratios, wheel size, and rpms and has an Excel spreadsheet... PM me and I can email it to you as it's got pluggable cells that you can insert your own values.

Thanks for all the welcomes! Today is a riding day for me, just like every weekday I work. (I ride rain or shine above 38f unless it's super stormy or I have to carry something larger than roll/saddle bags.) Dang it. I'd come to the M&G but I have a graduation party to go to that afternoon/evening (mine, finally!).

I just joined, and looked over a bunch of posts, but I haven't figured out if y'all always have a thursday or sunday ride planned, or if it's only when someone posts something about it? Anywho, I'm up for something in the evening this week, and sunday if we're done by 1:30-ish. :-) I'm not new to solo riding, but am definitely new to group riding so I might have a little to learn. -b
