  1. I was thinking about stopping by just to check things out. I am sure it is extra crowded there. I don't think Paul Jr. makes any products for a 1982 Suzuki, but might be cool to see something he designed in person.

How many Affliction t-shirts have you seen in the crowd? Just curious. :)

  2. Is this a regional organization? I am from north east Ohio ( south of Cleveland, north of Akron.

I suppose if a group wants to pass out school supplies, I am ok with that. I am not familiar with the organization.

Is the issue that tax money was used to buy the supplies and then the supplies were given out?

  3. I like reading these "road trip" threads. I jump over to ADVrider occasionally. I'll look at the ride reports from other countries just to see what is like there.

One of the better USA based ride reports on ADVrider is from a guy with the screen name of "iDave".

It seems like the riders either will just do a ride "just for because" or as a result of some major life change such as divorce, lost job, medical bad news.

Before I go exploring other countries, there is plently I would like to see here.

I know I will probably kick myself for not buying Ben's V-strom to set me up for a road trip later.

Saturday Aug 25th, registartion starts at 9:30 AM

Maize Valley Winery, Hartville Ohio (kinda south of Akron)

I went to this event last year. Some cool older bikes. I did not make it in time for the bike ride, but plan to ride this year.

They had a classy "American " style pin up contest last year, not the Bettie Page biker style so it was family freindly, if that is a concern. There was only 2 entries last year.

No mention if there is a pinup contest this year.

I haven't toured this part of Ohio but the route sounds neat.

    Anyone else planning on going?

  5. The tech schooling may set you back from advancing your degree. I am not in the field, but would think that getting a manual on styles of bikes ( either sport bikes cruisers, dirt bikes) and see how they are currently designed.

Then depending on your engineering course, you may have already have taken metalurgy, thermal dynamics or electric engineering.

CAD and possibly rapid prototyping experience would be a plus, if not flat out required.

  6. Nice man!!

My dad passed very recently on 6/5/12. He was married 45 years and passed at age 65.

He either went to every track meet that I was in or he was one of the coaches for baseball and football. Going aways back, he was an assistant Scout leader.

From my dad, I got the love of cars and motorcycles.

The song that gets me to tears is one by a group called "Mercy Me" title is I Can Only Imagine. The first 3 notes get me since I know the rest of the song.

  7. Ok, I could just say so much without stepping on toes.

I think there is already laws about killing people on books. So if those laws don't work, then banning / restricting any device (gun, car, hammers) will also not work.

So, do we just leave the conversation at "don't go to bad places" :(

I suppose i don't need a car to get to work or shopping since there are public busses. So I don't need a gun since there are police to prevent crimes in the event a person does not obey the laws.

I do "want" a car so I can travel on my own schedule. I do want a gun, just in case the police aren't around and something does happen that would be a threat to me and my family.
