  3. Rooster, people "OWN" threads and someone with a different opinion is not "allowed" in???? he said he wanted to "learn" as much as he can before he puts down the cash...so he is hearing the pros and the cons here. I think sometimes we jump in to things without thinking about all the risks...and especially when it comes to your childs safety, you can never know enough. We can take responsibility for ourselves and say hey these things are fun, and I am willing to take the risk. But I will not let my kids take the same risks as I do. Btw, my son was 18 when that happened...
  4. Whatever roosterracing...and your comment was so smart Yes they are a lot of fun...my ex had bought my son and daughter one...and believe it or not, I rode it and did not like it. My son rode a DT 125 for two years with no problems then got back on his little pocket bike and wiped out and now has two scars on his arm 1 inch by 3 inches where they skin was gone..hard lesson for him to learn. They are dangerous because they are too low to the ground, fast and hard to manover, due to their non existing turning abilitity of the handlebars...now how are you going to teach a kid safety on something that is not safe? Hey people can do what they want...but I still don't think a kid belongs on them. And you can hardle compare that with someone walking across the street... How old is the "kid" anyways?
  5. Pocket bikes are stupid but most of all:eek: dangerous for kids...
  6. was that because of me??? It was all in fun for me...maybe I was missing the lol....I was trying to say I was a tomboy...lol
  7. Hey Victory Rider... I AM a woman and I am not afraid of motorcycles...maybe because I have been riding them since I was 16! Having respect is a good thing....being afraid is not...not a good basis to ride a bike....
  8. 3 hours with summerweight gloves even...perfect for riding today!!!
  9. Umh, they make water to clean it off afterwards....getting ready to saddle up again... whootwhoot!!!!
  10. I am a MSF Instructor and I always tell people to wait until the class. Problem is with someone else to teach her, she will pick up bad habits too. The BRC (Basic Rider Course) will start from the beginning. It is geared towards individuals that have not even been on a bike. She will learn how to correctly mount a bike and feel the weight of the bike and how it steers, gears and moves. People that know how to ride are usually bored out of their minds for the first few hours of the riding portion of the class, since you even have to "powerwalk" the bike in the first few exercises. So save the stress and wait for the class! Mel
  11. Silverfox after our ride we DROVE to Competition Accessories...lol...hubby bought a new helmet with a 20% off...saved $80..pretty sweet.. :-)

  14. ...just got back from a 45 min ride with hubby!!! wasn't too bad!!! I was warm except for my fingertips!!! I miss my heated grips I had on my BMW...
  15. So since we are all getting our "bikes in gear" I was wondering if we can get a group together from the Dayton area. So post in this thread if you are close by....maybe we can even set up a day or a place where we can meet once a month or week or whatever...
  16. ...and oh, btw....what will you be wearing on your pretty little legs??? I hope you will get the matching PPE pants with whatever Jacket you are getting??
  17. Personally I don't like leather because of the hot days...I have really only worn cordura because it ventilates better. Just might be something to think about. The Jacket is pretty but they also make pretty styles in cordura. And for the summer I bought a Yamaha Mesh Jacket...
  18. I agree with the last post...My hubby rode the 600F in Germany and upgraded to the 1250 here in the uS. He absolutely LOVES the Bandit. Isn't the ZZR more of a sport bike than a tourer?
  19. Four Bikers sit together in a pub on a thursday night and plan their tour for saturday. One of them hesitates all night long and doesn't quite know how to explain to his friends that he won't be able to get the day off from his wife. As he finally tells them, they tease him all night about it. So he leaves the pub being frustrated. On saturday, the other 3 friends take off early in the morning to be at the meeting point at 9 am. As they arrive, they see their friend sitting on his bike with a cup of coffee, already waiting for them. They ask him where he is coming from since he wasn't supposed to get the day off. He says that he is waiting since 8 am. When being asked why he got the day off now he tells them: "When I got home on thursday I wanted to sit down with a beer in front of the tv, my wife was suddenly standing behind me, holding her hands over my eyes. When I took her hands off my eyes and turned around, she was standing there with a see-through nightie telling me that this is a surprise, that I should take her to bed, tie her down and then I should do whatever I feel like. So what can I say guys: HERE I AM!"
