  1. Woo hoo! I get out of work @ 5PM that day. Might be able to bring Matt too...he's actually not working for once. Very possible!
  2. Sorry to hear that. It's always hard when you lose a friend. You got my prayers.
  3. Oh yes, that shield by Bell...IP carries it. I have yet to get someone to fork over $130 for one. That's almost the cost of several of the helmets that it fits on. I'm sticking to my transitions eyeglasses and carrying a dark smoke shield. Shoei helmets are too easy to change shields on anyway.
  4. It was senior year of high school for me. Since I was in CA at the time I woke up to the first tower in flames and watched the other plane strike the second tower live. It was so surreal and that image was stuck in my head as I was taken to school. Everyone in my class was in disbelief as we watched the towers completely collapse on TV. Not long after that, our school was closed down (my HS was on a Cal State University campus and it was shut down as well) and we were all sent home. For the next several days we were getting e-mails of first-hand accounts from alumni living/attending school in NYC of the chaos and rescue efforts. We were lucky that nobody from our school perished but those images still come back around this time of year. I'm using tomorrow to celebrate the freedoms we do honor and cherish by riding my motorcycle and enjoying a BBQ with friends. There's too much wasted energy in anger.
  5. Got the open to close hours that day. Catch ya on another one.
  6. Need tunes too. Got the Zumo 550 with the XM Radio attachment. Helps a lot when you're seeing nothing but corn in North Dakota. Used helmet speakers then switched to Skullcandy buds. They stay in the ears very well and make great earplugs when the songs are muted.
  7. Yikes that's a lot of votes. Let's see Shovelhead try to pull that one off. Win one for the cripple!
  8. fellow western US rider. We all have our reasons to move, and somehow we end up in Ohio.
  9. If CA was going to use these violations to raise more funds, they might as well institute the "failure to control" violation like they do here in OH. I was one of the lucky ones to earn it when I faceplanted on US-23 last year and had to pay $125 to the state for making a 6 in. gouge on the road with my frame slider. With how many accidents I used to see in the morning, it *might* make a dent in things. Sadly enough, I used to teach for the school district that built said Taj Mahal public school. It's also the same one that hired a retired Navy admiral that never taught in a classroom and then pay him $300k a year with a car and a mortgage stipend to blow hot air out of his ass and do nothing. That school would've greatly benefited an area where parents actually give a damn about their kids and don't dump them to us teachers to babysit them for 8 hours a day. You can't throw money at education and expect it to improve. I'm tempted to start teaching again out here. Maybe my view on education will improve with time.
  10. Transferring an out-of-state license isn't hard; if you have a valid endorsement in the other state you just have to take the written test over and then pay for the license transfer. I had to transfer both a car and bike license to I had to take the written test twice. Kinda redundant, but rules are rules.
  11. Done and done. My list of ladies also extends out of state so you may get some national attention too.
  12. I'll see what I can do.

  13. I threw in a couple for ya. By far you've got the most inspiring story...hell, the shovelhead's one is crap and is so H-D stereotypical. I'll take "cripple gone riding" over the Iron Butt dude any day. Wish MotorEagles had a final say in voting.
  14. Almost got taken out by Bambi and his homies on US-16 headed toward Yellowstone in '07. Got lucky but it was a freaky moment to see those things in a group. Bird bounced off my front fender on my way to Ohio Bike Week this year, but it kept on going. Only critter I killed was a rabbit that ran in front of my Ford Taurus (previous car) as I was in leaving the drop-off zone of my high school. Thought it was going to make it underneath the car but it got taken out by the rear driver's side wheel.
  15. Nice. Had an '83 XJ750. Blew a piston on it...wish I had a garage and enough mechanical prowess at the time to take a crack at fixing it.
  16. Glad to hear those OR stickers work!
