  1. I had the pleasure of meeting John Ryan, I sold him a motorcycle helmet one cold winter day as he was riding through Columbus. I had no idea who he was at the time, but found out over lunch at Polaris. He gave me a signed copy of his book, then walked out and threw his old helmet in the trash. It was about four years old/250,000 miles of use, he said. I was sad to hear of his death a while back, but at least he died doing what he loved.
  2. Motocat12, or any other columbus local riders; I have the complete set of Sam Manicom motorcycle travel books, and will gladly loan them out. I dare say, I like his writing style better than Ted Simon (I also have all of his books). PM me if you'd like to borrow anything. http://www.sam-manicom.com/books/#.VjdP-Mso7JA
  3. Best thing that's been posted on this forum all year. Bravo.
  4. I make no apologies for my previous statements, except Kawi Kid was correct...I shouldn't have used the term expert. The correct term I should have used is professional. No snarkness meant. I find his statement "Do you ever go anywhere that your gun isn't allowed but your knife is welcome?" both incorrect and irresponsible from someone who profits teaching others self defense. Do you want to learn to knife fight? Fine. Just don't go around making statements that could potentially get an otherwise ignorant(to the law) in serious trouble. With that said, Kawi Kid has address the issue I brought up...and while I don't personally know him, I take him at his word that he will do the right thing.
  5. I almost got a chub. I think a burnout would help.
  6. Good luck with that. On top of Ohio's stupid "deadly weapon" laws, you've got each and every city and municipality with their own "blade length" laws.
  7. http://www.thetruthaboutknives.com/2014/02/know-your-knife-laws-17-ohio/
  8. You teach a class, claiming sometimes you can't carry a pistol yet a knife is welcome, yet with no mention of Ohio's ridiculously strict and vague "deadly weapon" laws? That seems pretty irresponsible, coming from an "expert. "
  9. This thread is worthless without an epic burnout video....
  10. Here comes winter, and I've got your wheel/tire setup!! OEM 17" Legacy 3.6R aluminum wheels(17x7.5 +48), OEM TPMS, and 225/55R17 Michelin X-Ice XI3 tires. FYI, the 225/55R17 size fits great, while giving a slight increase in sidewall height. Guaranteed to fit any 2010 to 2014 Subaru Legacy. May fit other 5x100 Subaru vehicles, but that's up to you to find out. Tires were run last winter, December through mid March, and have exactly 3,640 miles on them. The car was also aligned after initially installing the tires, so the slight wear that they do show is perfectly smooth. While I didn't physically measure the thread depth, they look almost new. Also, the tires were match mount/road forced balanced using the latest Hunter balancing machine. Zero vibrations! I'm a very careful driver, so there is ZERO rash on the wheels. These babies are pristine! Everything is all cleaned up, ready to install. I think I have two center caps, as a couple of the tabs broke when taking them off...but most any Subaru center cap will work. You can have whatever I have. I will not ship these. Too much hassle! I will drive up to one hour in any direction from Columbus Ohio to meet for a face to face transaction. A 10% deposit via Paypal(or mailed check) is required before I drive. If you drive to me, I'll install them for you in my garage. You will have to have the TPMS sensors linked up, FYI, but you'd have to do that anyway. Priced for a quick sale at $500! Feel free to email me directly, vboost99@yahoo.com
  11. Nothing like taking a brand new $40k car and ruining it. I mean, who needs warranty anyway, right?
  12. Nice. If you want to know the full Subaru history of this vehicle, PM me the VIN. I've got a buddy at Byers Subaru who will give me all the info.
  13. Did you email Held and explain your findings, that you were responsible for the damage, and at least offer to pay for the new gloves?
  14. Where's the "Here's the POS Subaru I Bought" thread?
  15. How the fuck are we supposed to know if NTB will mount tires bought from places other than Tire Rack? Suggestion: Call them and ask. If you want that particular tire, and you want that particular NTB to install them...is it so hard to just do that? Do you want one of us to come hold your hand through this difficult process? Jesus fuck. Do you have this much difficulty picking out socks in the morning, or does your mommy lay them out for you before bed time?
  16. Tire Rack has a locations that they work with, with set prices for install, so you know up front what it will cost.
  17. I have a very good friend that manages a Discount Tire, and he's always matched Tire Rack's price. The sales tax paid normally equals the shipping charge from Tire Rack, in my experience. Also, I have piece of mind by buying from a national chain, and the service they provide with the optional road hazard warranty, that might be helpful in the future when traveling. With that said, I've also had very good service from Tire Rack when I've purchased wheel/tire combos, that arrive mounted and balanced. My suggestion: Print out the exact order from Tire Rack, then go to a few local yet national chain places. I'm willing to bet most would match the price.
  18. California, and some other states, are already making it know that registrations for affected VAG diesel vehicles will not be able to renewed unless proof of recall has been performed.
  19. I also suggest "Home" as a movie. Just put it on auto replay. You'll be good for a couple days! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2224026/
  20. My point exactly, having also been in a "group" like that, way back in the day in Mexico. Pro Tip #2: When the police begin pursuit, it's every man for himself, and you take your own route. Don't follow someone else!
  21. Pro tip: Don't be the slowest rider in the group.
