  1. Don't worry I'm confused as well....LOL I saw this bike on CL and if it checks out may be an "impulse" buy, but the thing is all black and covered with airbrushed skulls (which is SO me), so I have to at least check it out. I think it would be optimal to have two bikes. My main street bike will still be be a SV1000S, FZ1, or a VFR800. This would be a bike night or track bike mainly.
  2. Tonight I am looking at a 1989 Suzuki GSXR750 with the usual intake/jetting/exhaust and possible brake upgrades. I realize that by today's standards it's a bit heavier than a modern sport bike (429lb DRY weight and 112hp) with as much and maybe less power than a modern 600. But it's old school and I like it. My question is with the right (modest) upgrades and tires would it make a good track bike? I have been riding off and on since I was 16. I have never own a sport bike, only standards and one cruiser. I have 0 track experience, but would love to go out and have fun on the track and improve my skills. A bike like the one I'm looking at is inexpensive and laying it down won't break my heart. I am willing to invest in a good school at Mid-Ohio as well. I just don't want to show up with a bike and be laughed at. My only competition is myself and if a 600 zooms past me I couldn't care less. Any input you would have good or bad would be appricated
  3. The most intelligent quote I think I've ever read on a forum. Beat me to it On pump gas 1000cc engines won't go much beyond the 200hp mark that BMW has set. I think forced induction is the next phase of superbikes. Can't believe there has not been a REAL production bike that has it. Sure a lot of cool rare bikes, but nothing like a zx10 with a turbo.
  4. I've had a hundred rats as pets but they never stay around very long. I just let them share a cage with this guy and they somehow escape out of the cage every time
  5. That is a nice bike. Contacted him. Thanks for the heads up
  6. Ha ha. Not me I LOVE the ZX's (ZX10r my favorite) all except the styling of the 14 (looks like a bug with a banana up its ass), although I've seen some really cool custom ones.
  7. Wow my head is spinning from all that information...holy crap. Some really great advice. Decided I'm selling my communter car and my Magna and getting a great bike. I'll be satisified with so many bikes. But to be honest a 2008+ busa is the king of the hill, "fastest production vehicle under one million dollars" And that's the truth. And yes the ZX-14 may be .02 faster, but it looks strange. Think i'm getting a Busa. No matter what my rich friends will buy, I will always be faster
  8. I don't want a lot. I want a really cool looking, fast, fast bike, that has lots of torque and has a riding position that I can do 300 miles in one day. I'd like it light and nimble as well. Insurance rates are a concern but not all that much. How much more is a Hayabusa than a FZ1 for example? (and I can't make heads or tails of these "insurance" threads. The prices are always so all over the place)
  9. Is it faster than an FZ1? If you absolutely HAD to...could you pull a POWER wheelie in 3rd gear @ 6245rpm? I have to know these things.
  10. I LOVE the look of the new ones. Yours looks really cool with that gold double pipe. But alas my budget is about $6k tops because I want to pay cash and not have payments. Realistically what kind of z1k could I get for that? BTW if I were to do payments on a bike I'd buy the BMW S1000rr....no question
  11. Maybe this was a sign from above that I should get a Z1000?? They are FAST, they are NAKED and they look damn good doing it. Good qualities in BOTH a woman and a bike
  12. Son-of-a-MF-bitch!!!!! Today I was just hours away from paying the guy on a price we agreed on and AS I'm going to the bank to get the money out, I get a message that the bike has been sold. WTF??? Seems some 63 year old dude from Youngstown bought it THIS morning for the asking price. Can't really blame the guy, we agreed on a price, but I didn't hold it or anything and the guy bought it for more than a chunk than what I was going to pay. Still sucks Think I'll wait, pay more green, and get a tricked out 2nd gen FZ1. All the torque, more hp, and not that much more in insurance.
  13. The copper one in Gahanna. The black one in Lancaster seller has very poor communication skills which would explain why his bike has been for sale for so long. I'm happy with what I'm getting. It needs a little tlc but I'm fine with that because I have some real money to play with now and the bike is mechanically sound. Before when I buy a vehicle I usually spend every penny of funds available and have nothing left to customize. This way, half my budget goes to improvements so I get exactly what I want
  14. I like being naked. Although in this weather it makes my balls shrivel to the size of a couple of raisins....LOL But you have to understand I'm an old dude and like the old school looks. So this is the best of both worlds for me. A standard that performs like a sportbike and sounds like rolling thunder coming down the road I'll be riding it home even if it's 40 and raining
  15. I'm buying the bike!!! We settled on a price and I'm picking it up tomorrow if all goes well It will be a great project. My original budget for a bike was $5-6k. With all the money saved I plan on getting LOTS and LOTS of goodies!! All proven performance mods (should get me 120rwhp), GSXR suspension and brakes, no compromises tires, and some tricked out NAKED look (that will be fun planning) So when it's all said and done, after fixing all the little things (which for me is fun) and having plenty of cash for the aftermarket, I will have one kick ass bike for less than $5k. Nothing like the sound of a performance V-Twin...whomp, whomp, whomp I currently don't have a girlfriend so I just might park this sucker in my living room...LOL I'll post pics and videos soon
  16. This morning installed a new K&N air filter and plugs, mounted my new digital camera (water/shock/freeze/dust/sand proof and it takes 720p HD movies) I'm ready to go!!! Have to wait till at least ten. Straight pipes on my Magna tends to wake the neighbors...LOL
  17. A police cruiser will top out at about 140. It will take him at least a minute or two to get up to that speed. You would still be going at least 20mph faster than his top speed. By the time he gets his 4300lb car wound out you should be at least 2.7 miles from him. Take the SECOND exit you see, NEVER the first one and you will be fine. It's only illeagal if you get caught
  18. The police have a term for motorcyclists that run from the police....organ donors. Granted most people that do run have no clue how to ride, are most likely drunk, probably wearing cheap sunglasses, flip-flops, shorts and a dew rag (I watch a lot of COPS so I know...lol)
  19. I love what i hear about this bike!!! See there are just too many things about this particular one. The front fender was replaced. I have a strong feeling the bike was used for stunting. Oil starvation and things of that nature concern me. But I think I've decided to get this model. It's a perfect fit for me. I've owned standards all my life for some reason. I love the naked look and seeing the engine. I think motorcycle engines are to pretty to hide I have been doing nothing but reading up on this bike and going to the forums. I can't stop the droll....lol My favorite bike I owned was a Suzuki VX800. Just a smigine of the power of an SV but I loved the torque and the thump of the V-Twin and it was different, a V-Twin standard. I LOVE all the different looks you can get with this (Granted some of these are SV650's but they look the same, and the 650's are bad ass bikes too) Sorry got a little carried away with the pics This bike is like a freakin chameleon!
  20. Well if you guys are willing to help my ugly ass out, that would be fantastic I'm free pretty much all weekend. I'll see what this guy is up to and get back to you. Thanks again, that means a lot I think what really started selling me on this idea was the fact that some parts are interchangeable with the GSXR's. What worried me MOST about this bike would be the lack of aftermarket parts seeing it's just doesn't have the numbers to support vendors like a GSXR or CBR. I didn't know GSXR forks fit this bike thought the sv's forks would be longer for some reason, but it is a fairly aggressive riding position (for me at least) but I think It will be just fine. Because other than ecu flash and a real dyno tune I would not be modifying the engine at all, but would want to upgrade the suspension brakes and get some really nice tires. Honestly speaking I will never be able to get close to the bikes 120hp potential anyway, but would love to use the money saved by fixing this one up with some real nice and shiny goodies
  21. He says it's clean, but I'm going to have to see it That is So flippin cool of you to offer! How about a case of your favorite beer and the fact that you are ENCOURAGED to rag the hell out of an sv1000s as much as your heart desires????
  22. I thought about what you said. I'm considering maybe giving this guy a low ball offer and see if he takes it. I don't have experience working on bikes, but I have worked on cars. My brother and I did all the work on my Mustang including longtube headers (dropping the k-member) 4.10 gears (pain in the ass and very smelly) and every other bolt-on I could find. And I know how to use a multi-meter, so how bad could it be? The parts needed to fix the bike if I can find used (the left controls being the most expensive I'm guessing) I'm sure I could get for a few hundred tops. That would be a great bike for less than three grand, and one I wouldn't worry about laying down all that much. My one question is if a bike took the tumble it appears that it did, I wanted to make sure that the front forks and tree are in good shape. I didn't ride it (no gear and it was cold as balls) but did check for any play and checked the rebound in the suspension which appeared solid. Any places I should inspect closer for damage or some kind of stress fatigue? And if it makes any difference the guy says it's a clear and not rebuilt title so that's a plus if I have to sell it. Hmmm it's tempting....
  23. I saw the bike this evening. The good news is I really like the size, looks, feel and riding position of the model. The bad news is the guy neglected to tell me it had been wrecked. The replacement front fairing did not fit correctly, the gauge cluster was off center, the master cylinder reservoir was held on with a zip-tie, the front head lights didn't work, the left handlebar controls were smashed and needed replaced, various wires were held together with twist ties under the fairing, and judging from the scratches on TOP of the grab bar in the back tells me this bike at one time flipped over on it's top. Doesn't sound like a "minor laydown" to me. But all is not lost. Like I said I got to get on it and check out the riding position, which worried me because the seat height was the SAME as my inseam, but I could still touch the ground with both feel flat. So I think the SV1000s is going straight to the top of my short list, right next to the FZ1. I think I'd be happy with either bike. BTW he is advertising it at 3k but I quickly got him down to $2,800 so he might take even less because it sounds like his mortgage payment is due. So if anyone wants a project bike might consider it. Bummer
  24. I'm looking at the bike tomorrow after work I like the look of the bike with a lower fairing like yours. That looks really nice...
