Thanks you all for the kind words, I appreciate it. This is a big step up, but I had to "jump". Never, and I'm already working angles to help those who have helped me.

First, I want to thank those who have helped me in my search in various ways. Your advice, leads and assistance really made the difference in my search, along with your words of encouragement. After the NHRA job was a no-go I had an interesting conversation with the owner of Power Automedia that changed my life. Long story short, he asked me “why don’t you just come work for us full time?”, so that started this whole process. Since March I’ve gone through 3 rounds of interviews, a personality assessment, and a ton of stress, but it has paid off. Starting May 2nd I will be the Associate Editor for http://www.dragzine.com, and the Event Coordinator for http://www.speedvideo.com at Power Automedia. This really is the opportunity of a life time and I’m so happy, terrified, and pumped up all at the same time. Speed Video is set to totally change how racing is live streamed and broadcast, and I get to be in on the ground floor. Thank you to all who have believed in me, followed my work, and supported me during my media adventures. I hate to break your heart, but you won't be putting it on the bumper and needing to replace an oil pan. Worse case it will pull the wheels maybe a few inches and carry them like 10 feet, it won't clime the ring gear and do something stupid. I have not had to touch the front yet, but with the new power the car is making that is about to be addressed I think. I am going to go with some double adjustable shocks in the front with good springs to start with. Having the double adjustable shocks on the front will let you control how quick the weight goes to the back based on the track and power.

All the HP in the world is not worth a damn if you can't put it to the ground. With my car I have been going from back to front, I started by upgrading suspension before I added any large amounts of power and my car hooks good for its power level. Now, I have added even more power and will be adding more suspension to it soon. So yes, while its apart do it now. At least address the shocks and springs in the front now and do something with the rear if you have not already done LCAs, Sub frames, Pan hard rod, ect. You run at Trails, their prep is junk on a good day, so you are going to need to be able to dial in how you weight transfer or the car will struggle with running the number all the time. Also, all that V6, stock running gear will flex even more with the power you are adding. Since you are not upgrading the rearend, the wheel hop will kill it that much quicker. Just my thoughts, its your car and money...

Yeah, its all USB so the serial port is really not needed. I really don't want to use my work laptop to tune with anymore.

So are there any current in production computers that would be an option? I really don't know if I'm okay with buying one of these older Dell rigs used unless I knew the person I was buying from. God knows what some mouth breather has done to it or if it will last based on prior use. The last thing I want is the unit to die while in the middle of a flash or something.

I am going to need a dedicated tuning laptop for my car, how much computing power do I need? If things workout the car will be getting a lot of laps put on it this year so it will need to be logged and flogged often.

That will never happen, ever. There will, and should be limits on how far you can go out like the NHRA has, but there is no need to stop having people trackside. This is the first serious issue with a media person, in the United States that I can think of in the past 5 years, if not longer. The only other time I can think of there being an issue was down in PR where they had a video guy get killed, but he was in a very bad spot. I expect there to be limits put on by the tracks and even the media overlords.

From what I was told it will be a miracle if he keeps his legs. A fellow racer posted on YellowBullet that was on the line for his pass said the wind was just insane, and a big gust on the pass might have played a big role. It looks like that car was about 20-30 feet in the air at one point, and the way it clipped the wall just smashed it down on the roof with terrible force. I would hate to see what the g-meter in the car read on impact, I bet it was Eric Medlan or higher levels Hats off to the track staff and the PDRA, they kept them both alive and table enough to be transported. Ronnie's heart stopped twice before the chopper got there and Ian had lost a lot of blood. Guys and gals, I can't strees enough no matter what kind of racing you are doing, make sure YOU are doing everything possible to be safe, and the track you are at is safe. If they don't have medial people there, don't even make a hit. This type of wreck could even happen with a street car, it does not take much at high speeds to send a car into the air.

Ian is in pretty bad shape from what I've heard and not out of the woods yet. I have got to work with him several times and he is a great guy. He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Lots of guys shoot from that area at 1/8th mile races because it is "safe" for that type of shooting, but this time it was not. I really don't like to go out past 200 feet to shoot just because things can happen so quick. This was one of the worst wrecks I've ever seen, just everything bad that could happen did. From what I've heard, this was one of those wrecks that the chances of living, no matter the gear was slim at best.

Please keep Ian and Ronnie in your thoughts, this was one of the worst wrecks I've ever seen. I'm not going to post the video because it is just to terrible to see again. Ronnie died twice technically and is clinging to life, Ian is in really bad shape and is touch and go last I heard. Just a few weeks ago I was hanging out with Ian at the track, it really hits home and reminds me that you have to stay frosty and know your surroundings. Cool story, I'll keep all of these in mind for when I have to beat my grandma's ass at Jeopardy.... I don't have the idea that the president needs to be regal or boring, I prefer my president to not be an idiot, so far I have yet to see anybody running this year that checks enough boxes to get my vote.
