I agree with the NinjaDoc, if you guys would completely ignore the attention whore, he will eventually go away.

Having a blinding bright flashlight next to or on your gun is beneficial.

It makes a nice target for your opponent to aim at if you don't use it right.

My point was going from lights out to lights on is going to hinder vision. I've also had lots of training and I'd probably go for a verbal identification/ use some command presence and order them to get on the ground. If the person stays standing they are getting a round in em. But I doubt anyone not meaning me harm would enter my house when knocking works.

I agree that I would be feeling in danger if a random person showed up in my home and wasn't responding to verbal commands.

I always would want to visually verify my target before firing. (That is why there is a light on the nightstand next to my pistol). She did not sound like she was moving quickly, and more so like she was moving slowly and clumsily, which should have given time for a light to be turned on. However, with both homeowners already having to deal with perpetual stalkers, I can see how the situation would be a bit more fear motivated than normal.

Of course visually verifying your target just tells you who you are going to shoot. If she still does not respond to commands after the lights are on, and continues to presents what you interpret as a threat, then she gets shot.

Now if I feel the intruder is really just there by mistake and means no harm, I am willing to try a different response. That different response still keeps a pistol in my hand, a space bubble between me and the intruder, and my wife with a clear LOS and the shotgun on the intruder.

Sadly, the homeowners will likely get sued over this. That light thing is helpful for shot placement too.

had a cop pull up while me and a group i was leading was stopped off the side of the road discussing plans to go forward. he asked us what we were doing pretty cordially, when we explained that we were just regaining our bearings and deciding how to proceed for some reason his tone changed sharply. he said "You guys better slow it down around here! I heard your bikes winding out and I know you were speeding..." I said "excuse me?"

he continued on with his grumpy tone regarding "you hooligan kids and your cratch rackets"

I told him to have a nice day, and we all left to continue our ride.

as if he could determine our speed based on engine noise... it has 6 gears sir, and a clutch...

All though most sportbikes can break most speed limits in 1st gear.

Bad idea. Had it happen once where I was in a group and a guy was pulled over in Georgetown OH. We were exceeding the speed limits by quite a bit. Basically the cop told the guy, give me the names of your buddies or I'm hauling you to jail. He spilled it and when we caught back up to him, he said the cop instructed us to call the dispatch and have him come out an give us each (there were 4 of us) tickets or they would issue warrants for us. The cool thing is he only gave us tickets for improper lane change where he could have nailed us for MUCH more.

You can't issue a warrant for people on here say. Shit I woulda told him their names were Casey Stoner Tommy Hayden Jack Hoff and Ben Spies. Or just remain silent. Then when he hauls you in on bs charges tell the judge how he was threatening you to get a warrant for your arrest to get you to tell him information.
