  1. Storage units do quite well iirc.
  2. You could alwasy start a food truck.. investment in those is like ~$50k
  3. im interested in the 105Micro possibly
  4. Helping out a friend-I am putting a feeler out for him, i know who/what he is looking for in an employee, and will pass on info to him/you. He is looking for someone who can diagnose on their own, but can take direction if needed. Someone who doesnt sit on thier phone all day, and can put thier nose to the grind. ASE/Certs are NOT necessary, but your technical levels should be on par with them. You must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Must be courteous and knowledgeable to deal with customers via phone, or in person. If you need some training that is ok too, but you MUST be able to troubleshoot as well. The shop is a small, and on the westside. M-F, occasional saturdays 8am-6/7pm. I do not have information about pay. This is an immediate need to fill the position.
  5. Midwest cleaned it all for me, they were baffled as well, suggesting to send it straight to nikon, and not a certified repair place. It didnt always take that long to do it, either. Sometimes it would do that 3,4,5+ images in a row (video was done in demo mode) I shot 500 images at Color Me rad on Saturday, with no problems.
  6. eat more fruits and veggies, its amazing what they will do for you. Look in to "Super Foods"

    Studio Space

My two photography partners and I are looking for a new studio space. The place we are currently is nice, but the ceilings are too low, and we cant secure anything to the walls.. like our backdrops. We are looking for warehouse/loft type spaces, even a heated garage space on the west side, im all ears/eyes. If you have any suggestions or ideas, im all ears..
  8. If you have ever tried to take non flash photos in an aquarium it make perfect sense. Water displaces light and makes it very deceiving to a camera. My shots from newport (will be up tonight) are a between 3200/6400 an probably would have done upwards of tims 12k or higher too if my camera hadnt crapped out on me mid aquarium
  9. So i was gonna post this up, just to give you people some ideas on what to do if you are in similar position. While i was at the Newport aquarium last week, i had a nightmare happen. My camera started locking up. It started draining batteries, left and right. I was perplexed. I was frustrated, worried i was going to have to send it back to Nikon just days before i had 3 BIG shoots planned. here's a video of the problem.. at 50secs, skip to 1:20.. Trisha dont video edit Now for some of the simple solutions. Discharged all my batteries- 2Nikon, 1 Chinese knockoff, and recharged them to full (the only way to do this, that i am aware of is to stick em in and use em till dead {thats what he said}, since they were mostly drained, i just stuck em in my D90 and ran em out on demo mode.) Formatted both my memory cards Reset camera to default settings I dont know which of these solved the issue, but things seem to be in good working order now. I will be sending it in to Nikon, for just in case purposes, but sometimes, simple things can help fix what might have been a big issue.
  10. Did you go to Newport? (i went early last week)
  11. The probelm is these ARENT supposed to be used anywhere other thant he floor, and even then its dangerous. Babies are wiggly.
  12. Personally, these freak me out, but they have recently become popular and just want to make sure others see this recall
  13. Exactly. I think we have to be careful to not assume that all people who own a DSLR want high end pro equipment, which is kinda where i felt this thread started going. I would almost bet if you showed almost anyone those bokeh comparisons independent of each other, Tim, most wouldnt know the difference. I'm all for education, but, overwhelming someone with information could lead to them not asking for help/advice ever again. The 50, even on a crop body, is excellent for portraits. I never had issues with it on my crops, nikon OR canon.

    Depression

rare moment.. I agree with Jones. Depression isnt something to dick around and be jerks about.
  15. I found out pretty last minute about an event that is trying to become something annual and made a beeline to it. Fete en Blanc is a picnic where everyone wears all white, has a gourmet picnic at a "pop-up" location. No one knows the location untill 4 hours prior to the event. I had a blast used this oppurtunity to work on my low light, high ISO imaging. I think i did ok most were between 3200 and 6400, and the only light was candlelight. (please excuse my generic lightroom logo, ive been working on the mac, and too lazy to setup my real logo stuff... :sheepish: ) 1 http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7109/7756662256_5b0466746e_o.jpg Fete en Blanc by Lucky Lola Studios, on Flickr 2 http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8288/7756661808_6c8244e736_o.jpg Fete en Blanc by Lucky Lola Studios, on Flickr 3 http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8438/7756660626_1a1984ab4a_o.jpg Fete en Blanc by Lucky Lola Studios, on Flickr 4 http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8287/7756659888_7e3ae60aa6_o.jpg Fete en Blanc by Lucky Lola Studios, on Flickr 5 http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7252/7756658856_780e956796_o.jpg Fete en Blanc by Lucky Lola Studios, on Flickr 6 http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8291/7756653656_0f75623626_o.jpg Fete en Blanc by Lucky Lola Studios, on Flickr 7 http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8443/7756648800_37e5c5afa7_o.jpg Fete en Blanc by Lucky Lola Studios, on Flickr 8 http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8422/7756648160_5e0ed52e45_o.jpg Fete en Blanc by Lucky Lola Studios, on Flickr
  16. These are two completely different things, and will use lenses completely differnt from each other, imho. Im in this camp. I think its a great intro potrait lens, is a lot to learn with, and produces some lovely shots. I dont think the bokeh is meh, so i dont agree with Tim on that.
  17. This is an amazing camera too for anyone looking for a pocket camera. Shutterbug rated it top pocket camera that pros carry when it came out. To add the underwater setup too, thats pretty cool. Wish i had money for it! GLWS
  18. Thats a toughie. Personally id still stick with 50, solely for the extra stops, but thats just me. The pancake sure is nice lookin though, but the 50 isnt exactly a huge lens either. The pancake is fairly new isnt it?
  19. Have fun and be safe guys!
  20. if its just a priority box it wont have trackign unless you ask for it. Even then, USPS sucks ass on tracking
  21. I wonder if he could claim castle doctrine since its attached to his home?(or at least the article sounds like it is)

Grow some Cintronella in your yard.. its pretty and does the job right.
