  2. So I should have bought some? He asked when I picked up my DPMS and I said no. Think they were $15/each. Why so popular? Nobama
  3. That's what I've heard from a friend. Wanted to check them out for AR's but haven't made it yet. NoBama 2012
  4. Went to point blank tonight. Was trying to decide between an AK an an AR. Finally decided on a DPMS AR. Filled out the Backround check and then they lost power. Had to kick everyone out. Is the DPMS a bad choice? Decent quality? Don't want to spend more than 1k Nobama
  5. Did Freedom have a decent selection? Nobama
  6. Which is what I suspected. But didn't see a lot of other choices. NoBama 2012

Why so cheap? NoBama 2012
  8. Been meaning to check them out. Along w Kyles gun shop. Mind me asking what u paid? Nobama 2012
  9. Thanks Craig. Good info. Nobama 2012
  10. She's fine w trigger pull on any of them. It's racking the slide she has trouble with. So for that reason she prefers a revolver. I brought up the "chambered in the safe" idea too. I took them to the range and gave them all the options, but didn't consider a shotgun at the time. May reconsider. Nobama 2012
  11. If a handgun, it will be a revolver. His wife has weak strength and cant work a semi Maneuvering around a house w a long gun is my concern, at any age. But again, I have ZERO experience. Light mount foregrip? Huh? Nobama 2012
  12. Again. My opinion IS that we are in distress. We don't have to agree. I will still buy guns from you:) And in no way do I intend disrespect to our military or the service they provide. I'm sure the same applies to the many service members who themselves are flying it upside down. Now... Back on topic. Shotgun vs revolver for home defense. Shotgun better, even in this scenario? PS, do u still have that S&W 9 at the shop? Nobama 2012
  13. So it looks like the consensus is no gun mounted, and to go w a shotgun instead. I get the non rail/gun mount arguments. And I hadn't head those arguments before, so good info. On the shotgun points. Im just not sure I can see him and his same aged wife using one. I admit I know nothing about them though. visiting grand kids are an issue. Can a shotgun be as easily utilized as a handgun from a locked safe status? Can they be as easily used in a close quarters, around corners, etc? If he were to go w a shotgun, what would be a good choice for a first time owner? At his age? As a new gun owner years ago, I always heard a .38 spcl for a handgun. I heard the same when asking for him at his age. Is there a "go to" for a shotgun, similar to the .38? NoBama 2012
  14. Can you see my shocked face?
  15. Dads getting a gun for home defense. 1st time he will have owned a gun. It will be a .38 special revolver. Likely a Taurus. I was originally thinking of getting him a laser for it for Christmas. But have since thought a good tactical light might be smarter. Since its a revolver, I'm kind of limited on gun mounted lights from what I've found . S&W makes an adapter, but those revolvers prob arent on his list. He's 73 years old, and I'm just looking for what will benefit him and his wife the best. Am I thinking right w a light over a laser? Am i right that a gun mounted option is clise to impossible? Any recommendations for a good light? He's already taken the CCW course, though he has no intention on carrying for now. Nobama 2012

    Ruger LC9

I can barely see mine at the range. Even w a newer battery. Imagine it would be the same in most outdoor/daytime scenarios. That and the light doesnt always activate. Crimson Trace on an LCP Nobama 2012
  17. May be in C-bus Monday to pick up a vehicle. If so, I'm interested. If not, could do FFL ship. Nobama 2012
  18. I've been looking for lint free q tips. No luck. NoBama 2012
  19. Almost did it anyway, but didnt have an FFL addy available at 11:00:) Nobama 2012
  20. So $350 w/o laser is not so good a price then? NoBama 2012
  21. Thanks guys! Nobama 2012
  22. How do they work? Are they better for noise protection? Or just better to allow conversations with them on? Do they create white noise? Or just amplify? Do they need to be turned off when shooting? Or do they automatically cut off with gunshot frequencies/levels? Nobama 2012
