    Conspiracy ???

That Nature article he is basing his whole theory on just proves that they were working with CoV. This is no great mystery, as China has been messing with that family of viruses since the SARS outbreak trying to figure it out.

But yes, this whole thing is going to turn into the next big conspiracy theorist wet dream, like 9/11 and Kennedy. I wonder how long it will take before the flat earthers blame NASA and the reptilians.

To all those bitching about "going to work", try sitting in solitary confinement.

I got out today and went to work. It was great not sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours, a work computer.... Where they see if you are idle or working and have limited access... And can't modify anything because it is govt owned....

.... I need out of this tiny room more often.

I haven't been out of my apartment in 14 days. I haven't seen another human in 14 days.

    😐

  3. I've been holding off on putting the track fairings on the R1 as well, as I have the same suspicion that you do about a delayed start to the track season. Hoping for some nice days over the next few weeks for a SEO trip or 2 so I can get some miles on the bike and start to get to know it.

  4. If people were working desk jobs and then are asked to mop up gore in operating theaters due to a shortage of staff, I won't blame them for not wanting to mop. Everyone has a set expectation of what their job entails when the start. If they want to help out and that help is not part of their usual day to day responsibilities, that's wonderful and they should be commended. If they don't, then that's fine too.

If someone is truly worried about catching this, to the point where they are going to work every day and fearing death, then decide it is in their best interest to just not go to work, again, I can't fault them. It's their choice. Congratulating them for being heroes or whatever, who cares. They will know whether or not they made a difference or did anything worth praising. If being called a hero comes with benefits and people who did not participate are taking advantage - it doesn't as far as I know - obviously that's an immoral thing to do, but again, you can't force people to do work they do not want to do. Unless you're a brutal dictatorship that threatens the lives of entire families if you don't capitulate.

Okay I have to have this conversation here because I can't on my social media because I'll butt hurt people that matter. You assholes don't matter.

This in no way taking away from any of those medical workers out there on the front lines of this thing or the ones that are willing to do what it take when ever and where ever it takes to combat this thing.   But the new catch phrase amongst the medical profession community is "I'm immune compromised" And what they mean by that is they can't work the front lines of this thing because they say they have some kind of auto immune disorder or asthma or what ever. If that's true I understand and have sympathy for those. BUT, now techs, nurses, aids, ect , ect you name it. Are all coming out of the wood work claiming they can't work in the ER or sick floors basically saying they can't work where the Convid-19 patients are because they are "immunely compromised"  Now myself and others around me have heard this term passed around for a few weeks now and have up to this point just rolled our eyes and said "fuck it, they don't want to work they don't have to work I guess" and just figured shame on them. An mind you most of the ones(not all) that I'm talking about there is a pretty good chance there is little to nothing wrong with them. They are just saying these things to get out of working the front lines out of nothing more than fear, that pretty much the rest of us share about this whole thing.  But now, now it's being taken to a new level. There is word that some of these folks are trying to claim this/that as a medical disability so they can get out of working during this outbreak and still get paid.

My over all view of all this is. Maybe if your scared of catching a disease or illness working in the field of medicine maybe you made the wrong career choice? Maybe even the ones that truly are immune compromised choose the wrong career? Assuming that they already knew they had that issue from the start. Now don't get me wrong. I'm sure there are legit cases and scenarios but I more or less speaking of the ones that see this as an excuse or easy way out just because they are scared. We all are.

    Thoughts? Lettuce discuss.

Maybe they are maybe they aren't. Can't force people to do a job they don't want to do. Who knows what their situation is as well, it could be that they live with someone at high risk and don't wan to bring it home to them. It sucks there are staff shortages, but that's the way things go, especially when people are facing their own mortality or the mortality of their loved ones.

  6. Yeah. I'm mid 30's with a flawless driving record and a 13 year old car, my rates are still like $1200/yr for insurance. It makes no sense. I can't imagine what it would be having points on my license or a history of wrecks. My 2016 R1 is worth more than my car, has better coverage and costs the same per month for insurance 😅

That’s because their mommy’s and daddy’s drive them everywhere and do everything for them. I told both my girls they had no choice but to get their license. I’m not carting there butts everywhere.

Most of the kids I was in college with didn't have their licenses, 10 to 14 years ago. The decline has only gotten more dramatic since then.

I'm sure that's true, plus the current generation of kids will be coming of age with this new technology instead of the muscle cars we were enamored with at their age. They will geek out on electric vehicles. The big block Chevelles, Mustangs, and Firebirds from the 70s probably are looked upon as dinosaurs by anyone under 21 years old now.

They already do by and large. Vehicle ownership is way way down in the 18-36 year old demographic.

I just have a really hard time imagining future teenagers and college kids getting excited about kilowatts instead of cubic inches. Plus, the absence of engine noise seems . . . I dunno, kinda boring.

Electric will be easier to work on/modify/shoehorn into different applications. Especially once price vs capacity becomes more affordable.

But then she said, check on the elderly and take them food and groceries.... Just pointing out the inconsistent direction...

I understand what she means, but that doesn't mean everyone else does.

Yes they should probably explain that those checking on the vulnerable need to do so with barriers in place and anybody dropping off supplies needs to make sure to take precautions against spreading the virus on the outside of the supplies. Spray the stuff down with isopropyl alcohol before leaving it on the doorstep, for example.

So, it took 3 weeks not 14 days to show up?

This is the kind of information we are not getting.

On another note 18 people died this week from floods.

It's been out there for over a month at this point that the top end of the incubation period is 14-21 days. It's just not being discussed by our mainstream media. There are lots of things not being discussed by our mainstream media that probably should be. Here's an article from February 19th discussing a possible 21 day incubation period: https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/generalinfectiousdisease/84963

Here's a summary of possible incubation periods based on reports: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-incubation-period/

The longest reported is 27 days out of china - but again, how trustworthy is that number? Probably not very.

The biggest issues with this virus are:

    • It can spread from asymptomatic people
    • It can live on surfaces for 2 to 7 days, depending on the surface
    • The incubation period varies widely, from a day or two up to nearly 3 weeks - this ties back to the asymptomatic transmission problem
    • Symptoms vary widely, from 0 symptoms (again, back to asymptomatic transmission), to very minor cold-like symptoms, to the worst flu someone has ever had, to dead within hours of onset of symptoms due to ARDS or other complications, including organ failure

NYC is having such a bad time right now because that city is literally set up to spread disease. Mass public transportation, mixed with heavy population density and a population that isn't very concerned with personal hygiene, is really a perfect storm situation for this virus to get out of control fast.

I know it would be ridiculous to ask you to cite sources for all of this information here, but if half of what you write here is factual, it is appalling. At minimum, I agree that there is a high probability that the Chinese are, indeed, skewing the truth in order to mollify their populace, and bolster their international reputation.

Some of it is hard fact, other parts are speculation based on social media/first hand reports coming out of china. Hard to get any verified info out because of the whole "expel foreign media" thing.

    Thoughts?

I've been seeing more and more media outlets speculating that China's COVID numbers are significantly higher than reported.

    China has also -

    • Blamed this pandemic on both Italy and the USA, telling its citizens that the virus originated outside of China
    • Banned all foreigners from entering the country, even visa holders, blaming them for bringing the virus back and "restarting" infections
    • Banned all foreigners currently inside China from being out in public, for the most part, by issuing advisories to most businesses to deny foreigners access - including grocery, pharmacy and hospitals
    • Expelled all foreign media
    • Disabled 21 million cell phones over the last 3 weeks (probably not death related, more than likely information control measures due to an ongoing outbreak)
    • Forbade any medical sites from submitting any new confirmed corona cases, as if they do they will have to "bear the full responsibility" - whatever that means in communist-speak
    • Sent 70% faulty tests and compromised medical goods (masks, PPE, etc) to multiple countries while making them pay for these supplies
    • Actively bought up all PPE available in Australia while still telling the world that this virus was not transmissible human to human
    • Roped the W.H.O. in with (money? access? political favors?) and had them providing the entire world outside of China with dangerous, false information, ultimately delaying the response and leading largely to where we are today

Nobody should be looking at China's numbers at this point. They are throwing off models and contributing to poor/misinformed decisions being made.
