  1. Where is this? I like sampling various flavs, and this place sounds like the creme de la creme of menu selections!

Thanks for loaning the pipe to me for a test fit but seems neither of our bikes will be able to use it. I'm taking it to a work buddy ( like we'd discussed Friday ) and see if it fits his FZR. Part number on this exhaust starts with ZX9 so I'm thinking thats what it was likely designed for. AND its not a stainless canister, its carbonfiber even though the badge says its an RS-3 stainless, so the price is well worth it folks! I'll let you know asap if it works on his bike or not
  3. Sucks to hear it came to this, but glad your life will loosen up and be better for you and yours. You can always start it back up if things change with the FT gig.
  4. Here's a link to the place we use, and the prices have gone up but still fairly affordable http://www.bei-benedict.com/
  5. Our shop bought 4 for outdoor warehousing of overstock/bulk. 20' versions used were $1500 and 40' used at $2000 from BEI in Dayton area, but thats been 6-7 years ago so price may have escalated. Definitely about the cheapest route vs wood or brick construction for a hunting cabin/shtf getaway. You can steel frame and rustproof the exterior to allow for underground options too. Innovative idea for sure
  6. Me neither, at 800 its fine unless it is dark. Any condensation in the pan will evap your 1st ride out in the spring. All is good, just personalize the bike over the winter and ride it when the weather cooperates to your liking
  7. I swap my filter once a year, and oil is sometimes twice each year depending on mileage. I've always been a synthetic fan, and I change it every 2k or so and filter every 4k. Everyone has their own ideas on intervals and oil types though. I typically do my filter change at the end of the season, so come springtime its ready to go.
  8. The rearmost lower engine mount bolt's nut was missing and had backed out several inches. The lower shock linkage bolt's nut was missing. And then last night OldSchool and I found that the swingarm pivot bolt/nut were only finger snug, some of the sprocket nuts were far from spec torque, the rear axle nut was maybe 20lbs at the most, the turn signals do not work anymore ( possibly relay, but we're thinking a wiring/ground issue ) and the chain has quite a few kinked links in it. The hack that put his bike back together ( before he took into a real shop ) surely put it to him, so here soon when he tears the bodywork down for paintwork touchup - OldSchool and I will make a list of all that it needs and be able to chase wiring a lot easier without the fairings in the way. Jim, you were lucky bro.....so glad that swingarm pivot didnt come apart. Could've been wicked bad stuff happen to ya. We'll get ya fixed up
  9. No sir, all 50rds this rifle has seen have all been his reloads. I plan to compare some storebought once I get used to it a bit. We plan to reload our own once my pops moves back up here.
  10. These reloads are tits, man. My father swears by this guys ammo
  11. Well, it looks like a friend of my father is looking to sell his lightly used ( 50rds thru it ) Savage .223 with bipod, scope, case, and 15 boxes of good reloads for $300. Cant pass it up at that price AND its identical to my father's gun. He was asking if there were any good deals and his buddy said he'd make me a good deal, and THAT he did. He's toting it up from AL in a couple weeks, so I'll check back in once I get it - thanks everyone for the input and helpful advice!
  12. He's bringing a couple of the Savage's up from Bama in a couple weeks so we can get some range time in and see how I like them. His patterns have been shrinking pretty good, his 100yd bulls are sharing holes so he wants to step it out to 300yds. His Savage is a .223, with reloads he said his scope zero'd for 100yds is still zero'd at 200, so I'm sure I'll be happy enough with this little caliber for a while.....and the way he's shooting it seems he can teach me some things too - it's gonna be a merry Christmas afterall
  13. ^This! A 2 day dream ride in Hocking valley and SEO would be better to get MORE of us together, even if its the same route both days it would be a killer time. I agree. Only met Doc once, but his passion to ride is enough for me to call him a friend. If the Double Dream Ride '13 doesn't happen before he leaves, then we should at least come together somewhere for some beers and handshakes
  14. Heard of the place, looks like a good time - to sum it up....A glorious waste of ammunition
  15. Gotcha, I guess I should've mentioned that "knowing their gunshit" actually meant rifle knowledge vastly surpassing my own which is probably most here. So I can definitely see your point -- hopefully I'll have the experience and vocabulary you do someday, but until then it's going to be a severe learning curve for me. I'd actually prefer a bull over a lighter weight bbl, even though I don't plan to send 100 rounds an hour down range. No plans to hunt with this gun, so additional weight isn't an issue - just have an interest in a long range piece at this point. Think I'd like the tried and true actions of the 700, and I especially like the fact that there's a plethra of options and upgrades available for it, but as you said the Savage is great for starting out and even for seasoned shooters on a budget. I'm on the fence between the Rem and Savage, and keep telling myself to go cheaper to leave more funds towards better optics etc, but I'm still making my pro/con list of both so I'm not quite ready to commit just yet. Thankyou, and thanks to all for the input so far - wish I had a lot more cash to invest and buy more than one to really experiment
  16. Autozone would rather loose their days cash income at that branch and get little ( if any ) press over it? When instead, they've chosen to initiate a negative media explosion over their pisspoor decision to fire an employee who put his life on the line to defend his boss, and the company's interests, over some dumbass company gun policy? I am not in autoparts management, nor do I know all the in's/out's of those jobs.....but I can see the huge fail in this.....Damn.... There are other ways around what happened rather than worrying over an employee getting away with breaking a rule and keeping his job at a shitty parts dump
  17. I'm leaning towards an Axis or Rem700 to get started in distance since I really dont want to add another caliber to the ammo roster but will do so if I get hooked on long range work. Thinking .223 now simply due to having a pile of it already AND because my father and I plan to reload our own for more savings ( He has an Axis ) so its very cost effective for me. .308 would most likely be my upgrade later due to its popularity and power/accuracy. I just want to keep things reasonable now and .223 will help me do that - plus its a capable round at 200-300 yds which will be my starting point in learning the long range techniques. Thanks Joe, I do like the Ruger American and could be another option later but its not chambered at .223 so to keep at/below $700 total budget for now to get me shooting, I'll probably go with a Rem or an Axis ( Howa was a 3rd choice since the pkg deal is at my limit budget wise, but read good things ) to get me prone, cheaply. My father loves his Axis, so that and low price are major considerations. He and I splitting reload costs are another decider for the smaller caliber too. Eventually I may go bigger but to get things started, I'd rather stay with what ammo I've got in the safe. I dont agree, there's quite a few here that really know their gunshit, bad advice here is typically sarcastic in nature or just personal preference.....the good outweighs the bad so far on this thread. Logic dictates that I definitely need to start out cheaply, but in Flounders defense a fully outfitted M1 or AX338 would be tits to have!
  18. No problem man, bring it by the garage Friday so OldSchool and I can give it a good once over - surely I missed some things without proper light and more tools would've been handy too.
  19. Innovative upgrade for an old idea. What will they think of next?
  20. Thanks man, I'll check into these. I've recently bought 5 more mags for the AR, so it would be killer if they would crossbreed between weapons
