Not too electronic-saavy with bikes but don't most all mfg's use the tach to display fault codes?? Don't know whether it would show codes after starting the bike, but could be a possibility? If it's truly a tach issue, I'd triple check the pickup's position over the tach rotor / related wiring and connections........Someone with real working knowledge may know better

Awww....that gun's going to get lonely all by itself.....start saving for the next one now!!

Congratulations! I love the married life......it's been VERY good to me -- my wife still lets me play with toyz!!! Good luck with your new venture

Wife and I stayed at "Raccoon Ridge" on Blackjack Rd. -- Woodland nestled, hilltop, 3-4 bedroom house with a wrap around deck, hot tub, 2 acre pond, 40 acres of woods to hike around the house -- it was great. It WAS owned by Getaway Cabins but believe it's been sold since we stayed there.......maybe LazyLane Cabins owns it now?? Not sure but if you search online, you'll find tons of good places. Think it cost about $110/wkday and would have been an additional $250 just for Sat/Sun. But these are 8 year old prices, so may have went up some.......no matter where you'd stay, the hiking there is awesome.

I was home but clueless to what happened that day as I hadn't even turned on the TV until my wife called me at home and filled me in at about 11am......crazy shit for sure. We plan on attending a memorial that our city is throwing via local food/money donations to show our support for this tragic day in American history.

Sounds to me like your boggin' it when your leaving a stop.......like these guys are saying, give it some more throttle when your letting out the clutch -- I've heard 6's don't have much at the bottom of the rev's so a couple grand to get going is probably typical........and crankcase noise at less than idle is normal for most any bike........but, if you've got shifting issues where it doesn't want to "seat" into the next gear I'm assuming it could be shift fork related? I've had a bent fork on my last Yamaha and it would jump out of 2nd gear ( when under power ) into a false neutral or it would bind the whole trans ( scary shit when that happens )

Age 11, got started on a '77 XR75 and spent 3 years beatin' the brakes off of that poor little bike Then an '87 CR125R and had a blast with it until it got totalled against the back of Dad's truck;) My 1st street bike wasn't until I was 18, got an '82 KZ550LTD and fitted a Kerker 4-1, K&N kits, then geared it up a bunch - fun little bike and it would crush 600's & 750's ( the first few blocks ) but the poor thing was redlined at 105mph. Wrecked it, fixed it, sold it. Had a bunch of dirtbikes after selling my 1st street bike - '84/'96 CR250's, '77 RM250, '81 IT465, '77 Trail 70. Next was my pride and joy at the time, '97 YZF1000R - Yosh'd it up, polished the wheels and other tidbits, debadged it, nobody knew what it was......a timeless look for its age......really loved the way it did everything, it was bike of the year for a reason! After selling the YZF, figured I'd look into C14's and FJR's......couldnt find any within financial grasp then happened across my ZX14......fell in love, been there since early '09

Wish I did man, wish I had a garage full of bikes for you to choose from but alas, I am but a poor soul with only enough time for a devout relationship with my one and only streetbike, and nobody gets to hit the switch on her......sit on it and dream but that one I save just for me. But no major thing man, get your bike situation figured out first then go for it all again - unless somebody would be willing to meet u there, let you take a short hop on their bike to get acquainted, take the test......sounds simple enough but a liability in itself - a main reason I dont let anyone ride mine - I would feel like a pile of shit if someone got hurt riding my bike.

Maybe he had an airshifter? Or suicide shift......on a sportbike? Either way, thats determination right there!! Somebody track this guy down and buy him a beer

And DEFINITELY dont crank or start that bike with fuel in the oil, could washout bearings or worse!! Not sure where you live, but there's some talent here that may be able to help you out.

Its far easier to just take the riding test at the local BMV. Borrow a bike and spend maybe an hour of your time instead of 3 days. If you already know how to ride fairly proficiently (accident aside:D) you will probably be bored to tears taking the beginner course. Simply my opinion, but I think the BRC is more "just learning to ride" oriented. I took the advanced rider course (return rider) at Honda and it was 5 hours at the most, and a good course for low speed maneuvering and some good accident avoidance scenarios......but you have to be licensed to enter.

........and how about some rate adjustment for OR members?

Sucks I couldn't make it either man, but we had a busy little weekend -- figures, I come off of nightshift to more plans than I have time for.......I'm in about the same boat as you with my schedule, except my free time to ride is usually 1 or 2 weekday evenings after work.......but thanx again for the invite, we definitely need to hook up so our bikes can get to know each other I've been wanting to plan a ride for this area to meet up and I can't even seem to find time to do that, just one more item on the list!!

I don't work for a bike dealer, but the techs at the dealership I do work for are ALWAYS complaining about the time alotment for recalls, campaigns, modification bulletins, and warranty work........Most corps. pinch every single penny they possibly can when it's free work, so if Zuki follows suit there, I'm sure it only pays for the part and a VERY quick swap out. Ethics tell me one thing, but actuality is typically a completely different story, sadly enough.......even though the recall is over 10 years old, shouldn't matter - Zuki corp. should've tracked all recalls performed by VIN # so they would know exactly how many units were affected ( in advance ) vs. how many units are still needing done ( YTD ) so whether or not there is a "green" available shouldn't change the fact that your bike is still needing done -- I would personally complain if they're not willing to make things right, but if it does come down to you having to paint the tank out of your own pocket - shouldn't cost much more than $200 materials/labor by a competent paint shop.

I'm assuming he'd done all the safety wiring, but not sure what he'd have done about the belly pan? It's got all OEM plastics and he never mentioned anything about race plastics, so I don't know unless there's a belly pan insert that may be legal?........just guessing

Wow.......maybe this thread should be moved to the Off-Topic area? If this were an actual physical display of opinion, brigham would look like a 12 legged turtle with all the footwear hangin' out of his orifices!! May have gone over better here if it were a rant rather than sarcastic appreciation for the Duc rider........I waive at most everyone on 2 wheels ( mopeds/scooters excluded ) whether they return the favor or not, matters little to me.........the days it does matter to me, just pipe 'em or reconfigure said waive into a single-digit-salute

Shows what I know, but I'm just relaying what I was told - Wish I'd stayed in touch with him so he could give you all the answers, I dont have a copy of the rule book nor know enough about it all - I watch the shit on TV, have personally never "raced" - what else would he have had to do to prep this bike for race readiness?

Good deal, the more you do it the more it will become habitual 2nd nature!
