  1. She just turned 3 this year........now to get her potty trained
  2. and don't mind us rocketeers.......it's not WHAT you ride, it's HOW you ride
  3. If the .40cw doesn't agree with her, we may try a 9mm - she asked for the .40 but hasn't had much experience with them.......I was secretly glad she chose the .40 as I want to look into getting the XDM40 for myself and would be a nice perk to be able to share ammo........but if the .40 isn't what she wants afterall, and would rather a 9mm then I may look into a 9 for myself
  4. We might consider that later on since my purchase will be a matching caliber to hers so we can share ammo and keep the fun a bit cheaper
  5. True, but my wife might surprise you;) She's a little powerhouse for 5ft - she has to be living with me:D we'll see, got plenty of ammo to burn and see how she does
  6. No need for a 10mm, til we get this new .40 broke in and see how it goes......$400 aint nothing to wipe with and go for another weapon already. Babysteps:D
  7. Wifes hands are small but strong so the compact fits her well and the thin grip help to get her hand around the weapon better IMO. We'll get it to the range and see how she likes it and how it likes being shot a lot I did see that they micropolished the chamber and feed but doesnt mean much to a rifle/shotgun/bow guy since I dont know the common practice in handgun manufacturing.....the few handguns Dad had when I was growing up were all revolvers
  8. So I just bought a Kahr .40 compact for my wife ( Bday gift ) for her to carry after getting her CCW. Heard some good stuff about this company and this particular model seems very popular, so we assumed it would be a good weapon for her as it fits her nicely and was a good budget buy. We get home and she starts to disassemble the gun only to find metal shavings in the slide as well as plastic shavings from the polymer frame........really?........I thought this was a quality piece from a quality company? Have we been duped here? We looked closer and seems like the action and internals are all clean, snug and tight ( definitely needs a couple hundred round break-in to loosen it up ) but I'm discouraged that Kahr failed to clean up their mess before QC ok'd this weapon to ship out........or, maybe I'm expecting too much from a $400 purchase? She got it all cleaned up and it's ready to go to the range for some fun, and until we're that far I won't know how this thing will perform........but so far........I'm not impressed with it.
  9. ^^^Thats what I'm sayin'!! Could've kept it for playtime AND had a rollin' recliner;)
  10. Just trade in for one of these flying couches I ride - onboard fuel mileage calculator shows I can be comfy while holding steady easily around 110-120 and still manage 35-37mpg (indicated) at around 7-7.5k in 6th gear. At 80 the ZX14's about 4-4.5k at 37-39mpg (indicated) - at 80 in 6th, getting good draft from a leadfooter, and it runs about 45-48mpg (indicated):D - not sure how accurate the calculators are, especially when you play with gearing/mapping but relative enough to know its a bit of a trade off between cc's/mpg's/gear ratio's/fuel capacity.......I get the sames miles to a tank, but not as good of mileage compared to a small caliber bike - but sportbikes are built to burn shit up......fuel, tires, and roads - so dont worry about saving some gas money or going further on a gallon - if thats your primary concern, put a 10 tooth on the rear idle across the country! :D:D:D Have a safe trip man!!
  11. Mad props to you, thats some manly shit right there!

Looks like a fun route dustin, Tenn's got some really sweet riding most anywhere in the state by the looks of it ( geographically ) Wife and I pass around the west side of Nashville on our way to Mansfield / Hillsboro area where her folks live -- there's some nice twisties down that way as well.......maybe someday we can move down there, but it's just not in the cards until my daughters grown.
  15. 1) I'm in my later 30's with one daughter and I've been married for almost 8 years now. 2) Started riding motorcycles at age 11 in the dirt and was hooked from then on. Was in my late teens before getting into street riding, which is fun but dirt is where my heart is. 3) Playing guitar for about 20 years now, and I've been lucky enough to be part of some of the best metal acts in my area - I'm good at heavier music but the last 4-5 years I've been trying other genre's to further my skills as a musician/composer. 4) I am the 2nd generation born in the U.S. since my grandparents travelled here from Germany/Austria - I'm a little guy in my family at 6ft 280lbs, my father and uncles are all 6'3" - 6'7" big built fella's and even my grandmother is over 6ft.......but my mother is 5ft so I got stuck in the middle:D 5) Was raised by my stepfather after my biological moved away with his new wife - and don't think I'd have it any other way......stepdaddy was quite the mountain man, heart and soul......he was the smartest man I've ever known and he knew how to survive with little to nothing - he brought me up camping, canoeing, shooting, hunting, knifesmithing, gunsmithing, etc......he was a great man and is DEARLY missed - Rest in Peace Pops!! 6) Was a cubscout / boyscout growing up - and it taught me a lot about survival skills and other awesome experiences from tent-camping in the dead of winter to building foot bridges and small structures by simply lashing rope and tree limbs/branches - and yes, I can start a fire with an old flintlock rifle if necessary;) 7) Played a lot of baseball as a youth as well as some football and wrestling later on......but I'm not very athletic anymore as you're able to tell if you meet me!! comment based on #4 8) Planned on getting a sport tourer when I bought my ZX14, guess I had a last minute change of heart since I'm getting older and can't afford a 4 wheeled toy to play with......once I saw it, just had to have it......but I'm happy overall, this bike's faster than most any muscle car I've ever wanted and saved me quite a bit of cash as well as garage space;) 9) Living in town currently, basically a long-term live-in flip until we can manage to sell at a profit margin large enough to get out in the sticks where I belong!! Hate the city life sometimes, even though I'm not living in a metropolis......but I still long for the quiet, tree canopied life away from the hussle and bussle. 10) I'm easy to talk to, once you talk to me that is.......I've always been told by my buddies that I'm intimidating, but that's basically because people tend to judge me by looks alone before striking up a conversation and realizing I'm actually a nice guy who can empathize with most anyone; so don't shy away, I enjoy good convo with anybody!!
  16. Even though it won't idle properly, does the engine spin up thru the rev's smoothly? Maybe the TPS is to blame
  17. Wow, and I thought my ZX14 was bad at only 140-150 miles to a tank running easy - but this is also a 5.5 gallon tank and mine's geared up 2 on the rear and stock front

    One of us?

Sad to hear......Rest in peace rider!!
  19. Think it was meant to be "speeds in excess of 130 inches/minute" When will criminals grasp the concept of "get-away"? You dont wipe with a hammer then use a turd to drive nails! Buy a clue and equip yourselves with the tools to do the job - steal a Lambo or a Busa......THEN rob the bank......jeesh
  20. I believe new law is needed to allow ccw riders the right to pop warning shots at illegal and neglectful behavior on the public roadways - the percentage of water-headed drivers vs. us out there is way out of balance!! Even a complete shitbrain will pay attention when there's hot lead flyin' overhead
