I'm digging the triple. It seems a great blend of torque and linear power. Mine's a GT, so just a bit larger than an ST but it's pretty nimble for it's roomy size. I am happy with the choice for sure

Went a different direction. Bought a lightly used Triumph Sprint instead. Way cheaper, readily available, and closer dealer support

Well quit scaring me....my anus could've pinched a pencil in half when I read your post. I take your advice because you're much more seasoned than I
-
I don't believe they're that unreliable. I know 2 guys here that had upwards of 50k on their triples without much of an issue. I mean, statistically speaking most ANY bike could leave ya hanging somewhere but I haven't seen where Triumph is as problematic as the kraut and sketty bikes

It's over at CompAcc, and I'm sure they would gladly finance ya for a couple hundo a month

You're in Troy, I live in Piqua. If you'd like some help prepping the bike, hit me up man. I have a NoMar tire changer and balancer, we can get her ready for Spring

I may track the GT someday, another reason I wanted a good 'tweener bike so that option was there

Pirelli Sport Demons are less than $250/set for 110/90v16 and 130/90v16. Are those the sizes your bike takes?

Honestly, just run the bike you have on a new set of decent street tires. Think I ran Roadsmart dual compounds my first time. They did just fine, heated nicely enough, and on a ZX14 at that. Novice typically starts you out at 30/30 tire pressures, so most any respectable street tire will suffice. You've got some learning to do, and trackdays aren't exactly cheap - so just ride the older bike for now to get some experience before spending on a newer bike. A few trackdays in, and you'll know if you want to pursue it further ( which, you likely will...it's a drug )

Out of warranty and the dealer isn't figuring it out? A credible transmission shop would be my next visit to unfuck what they can't, right after I get my $835 back for the nonrepair job

I was in the pool....there's shrinkage

Thank the maker....I'll fit right in then

Ok, wait.....there are marriages that exist where the man is MORE attractive than the woman? I honestly dont see how that could even be remotely possible, no matter how BTS the woman looks.

I think it's a cool design, but I'm really considering the BrakeAway now. It seems to have that extra safety element with the lever defeat
-
Ah, had a derp moment....didn't even think about that being in common betwixt the 3 bikes....and thanks guys. Gonna suck to see this thing sit a lot for the next few months or more, but it will make Spring that much better

Does not compute. Meaning?

Lock this up -- trading the bike in

THAT is a nicely designed piece of kit right there. Never heard of this. I see they offer a setup for the ST, but the GT isn't listed - but I assume they're the same setup. I will check into these, thanks man

Thanks Matt. Silver is definitely the fast color. My Ninja is almost an identical shade. Not sure why, but I've always liked metallic silver. My truck is the same color as well

Thanks guys. And Throttlemeister's were my very first thought for throttle locks. Everything I've seen about them speaks good equip

Nah, I'm just fuckin with ya'll... After some deliberation, I bought this after a test ride today. Taking delivery Thursday, trading the Ninja in for it. 2011 Triumph Sprint GT. Like new at 2840 miles. Not a bunch of fancy electronic gadgetry and it's not dripping with moto fanatic semen samples...but it's a torquey triple that really just felt right. It corners very well, runs tiptop, and the price was right on par. Bought a 4yr warranty along with it to keep my demons pacified. Nothing to really complain about as it has everything I need, except a throttle lock. Sort of bittersweet to buy at the end of the season, but these came back on my radar once I rinsed my skull of high dollar sex machines and decided to pursue more practical options. I appreciate everyone's help and input during my search, but I'm very satisfied with my decision and look forward to many years and many miles to come. Bring on the Spring Epic Ride!

Thanks for the offer man, but I've went a different route...

I'd seen those, as well as the Aprilia Caponord. Just more than I wanted to spend after my change of heart and mind. I had this notion in my head that I wanted a high end bike of royal descent, but I woke up and reconsidered what I'm willing to invest for now. You'll see shortly Thanks Al. And while I truly appreciate the help, I've since reset my search and decided to go cheaper this time on mildly used, and not quite as exquisite, next bike. I looked at these too, but they are short little buggers. Not that they aren't good bikes, I've just back pedalled on the adventure style bikes and realized I'd like a bit more reach for a mildly sporty position. The Multi has that position possibility in it, but the sex appeal and electronics were also blinding me a bit - so that could still be a slightly biased opinion

The FJ09 runs a little small for me man....hell, I'm 6ft and avg 290 suited ( on a good day ) and that short reach and wheelbase would just cramp me up. Plus it's got shitty torque at just over half of what I'd like to see -- which isn't THAT high up on my list, but the bike needs to be able to carry my heft at a good clip. The Sprint is stretched out similar to my 14's stance. My local Yamaha dealer is a Triumph dealer should I need their support, but there's no remaining factory warranty on this particular bike. Not a big deal since I'd only be spending 1/4 of what was expected with the new european bikes I was looking into. It's not that I absolutely MUST own a european bike, but all the jap bikes out there just aren't doing anything special for me. I like having something different than the masses anyway, always have. The FJR & Concours are just a bit big to be expected to perform as I would want, but the small middleweights just dont have the comfort and size of what I want either. The bikes I've looked into are more welter weights, or even small light-heavy weights....meaning... Sub 600 pounds wet 60"ish wheelbase ( planted feel ) 23-24 deg rake with less than 4" trail ( so it's still nimble for it's size ) Decent width for some element protection and comfort More upright seating position, but just a little sport reach is still wanted Quality hardshell luggage with plentiful storage ( no, I wont mount a Givi set to my ZX14 ). The market share for this category bike is fairly slim in a sport touring capacity. The R1200RS, Multistrada, and Sprint GT fit my list. Are there other possiblities? Sure. Have they even been considered at this point? Definitely. I've been researching for months on end, and the very few that I had not looked into were brought up here - so I checked them out as well. I dont discredit other bikes that may be part of the group I'm searching within, but they're just not for me other than the handful I have in mind. Money wasn't really a factor to begin with since I plan to keep the bike for quite some time, but practical reality set in against that decision.

Still want more range, whether it's used or not. Just knowing I dont HAVE to stop for fuel would be nice.
