  1. Sunday would probably work best. I am supposed to help a friend move on Saturday, which shouldn't take long, but I think they are also calling for storms that day as well. Sunday is the better bet.
  2. I'll definitely keep that in mind. Just like I told someone else on here, I've been wanting to ride that area - just haven't made it out that way quite yet.
  3. I've already been down. The first time I went to Lancaster/Hocking Hills on my R6, years ago, was the time I went down. I pushed myself too hard and ever since then, learned my boundaries and learned that I should not play catch-up. Although I do have to say, it's a lot easier to judge corners and the path following someone rather than being far behind. Just like champ01 posted in this thread (the guy that rode with me this past Sunday), "you didn't ride above your ability."
  4. I do have to say, I have mixed feelings about this as well. I completely understand that no one is immune to anything, anyone or any type of condition. However, to say that they have "earned nothing" isn't right IMO. They've obviously earned the skill from riding and respect from others by doing so - but there are certain circumstances where I can see someone being too cocky and not paying enough attention to detail (like unexpected sand or gravel spots). Good article, all-in-all.
  5. Oh no kidding, that was you? Ha, that's kinda funny. Thanks for the compliments. I don't believe I was all that slow and I do realize Jeff has a lot more riding experience than me. This thread wasn't meant to be, "I suck cause I'm not fast," I was just trying to get a feel of other people's experiences, thoughts, etc. That's all. This took off in a whole other direction, but it's still nice to get other feedback as well.
  6. I don't know dude, I've seen a lot of people roll out around 8 or 9. Between 5-7/8 yes, they are busy. Drive thru on the bikes???
  7. Quaker Steak and Lube. Just off Polaris Parkway and 71.
  8. Why not just have wings? I think they are pretty decent there.
  9. In - and I don't care that it's supposed to be almost 100 tomorrow.
  10. I was parked, sitting on my bike waiting on some company to join me when this kid, I'd say probably 10-12 years old, comes strolling by on his bicycle. Comes up to me, says, "Nice bike. Is it a Ninja?" Other than the fact that my bike is RED with huge YAMAHA stickers, I decided to be nice and tell him no. Even if he can't read, he should be able to tell colors, lol. Can't blame him since he's so young but I still got a kick out of it.
  11. I actually have this weekend off from work - count me in too!
  12. Well, Mid-O is only 40-45 mins. from me so the trip won't be that bad. But yeah, I'll try to get this together...
  13. Yeah, there's no way I'd do the kind of pace on the street that I'd learn on the track. But I get what y'all are saying - it's more about the instruction than anything. Time to get some funds together and maybe a friend or two to go up with me so I don't look completely retarded
  14. This is all good information. Thank you to everyone for their opinions.
  15. Definitely. The guy I ride with has been riding for 10-15 (roughly) years so I definitely try to listen to him when I can. The whole track thing is always pushed because it's a safe® environment and you have actual instructors teaching you what to do instead of flying around corners with oncoming traffic, not necessarily knowing what can happen with other riders who may not even be experienced either. I don't care who you are - there's never enough reaction time for some scenarios. I definitely want to do a track day soon to get set up on my bike - maybe suspension settings, riding position, and just have them tell me what I'm doing wrong. The more skill learned, no harm.
  16. Oh I will. Hence why I made this thread - I need to participate on here more!
  17. Don't know if I ever met you or not. I still go to the meets and stuff (on my bike) so feel free to join us anytime even though we got rid of our DSM's, lol. And yes, absolute best decision I made and not one single regret!
  18. Yup, I'm a member there. I sold the DSM last December to pick up my R1. I'm never looking back to DSM's. I think CarWhore is from there too. Oh and sorry Cooter - I ended up getting busy that day myself and didn't get a chance to text you to ride. I'll get a hold of you soon, hopefully, and we'll get out there at some point.
  19. I was just telling a buddy that I wanted to ride that area soon. My ex was from that area and all I could remember when I dated her and when we used to go visit her parents, I'd be like, damn, I wish I had that R6 still. But years later, I got me an R1 baby! You're going this weekend? I'm off of work...this could work.
  20. I was just talking to someone the other day about Nelson Ledges. The words "horrible" and "sketchy track" came up several times. I was just reading about the Mid-Ohio school. Weekdays would suck to request off from work but I'm sure it could happen. Weekends would be a lot better. And yes, I already have a truck (and the same gear I bought several years ago), just need to get some ramps. I'm not making excuses - I only talk about money because I'm trying to buy a house right now. Still saving up for the down payment. Buuuuut a track day looks like sooooo much fun
  21. Understandable. But like I said, I don't even look in any other direction besides Yamaha. I'm just utterly attracted to their styling and performance. I also want to add that I'll probably only be doing twisty type roads a few times over the Summer and maybe a couple track days a year (once I get into them). I seriously doubt I'll ever become someone that craves doing this every single weekend. I also enjoy straight roads as well - more relaxing and scenery is great to look at.
  22. Same reason anyone gets one of their first bikes - it was my dream bike. I've always been biased towards Yamaha for some reason and I can't explain it. Is there a better bike out there for what I want to do? I'm sure there is. But I'm happy with my R1 and it'll be just fine for me.
  23. That's actually somewhat how I feel. I may never be fully comfortable because of those changing conditions (most roads were great but there was one that was covered with branches from a storm the night before). That's more of the honest answer I was looking for, thank you.
