So basically, what I'm gathering, it doesn't matter how long you ride...whether it's for 2 days or 20 years. Riding school is where it's at.
-
True - maybe comfortable enough to attack a turn, no matter how sharp it is.
-
Oh okay, I thought he was telling me to stay away from public roads. I do agree that a track day (school) should be in my future - it's just a matter of taking the time away from work (schedule is different day to day) and getting the money together. But, this got a little off topic...maybe I should word it differently. How long did it take you to be comfortable on twisty roads? Not gonna lie - there's some turns down that way that definitely scared me a little.
-
Why? I love those kind of roads. I'm not saying I'm trying to do 100 mph around corners and drag a knee on those roads.
-
Oh I definitely am enjoying myself, that's for sure. The guy I have gone with has been to riding school and a few track days. I do listen to him and take tips anywhere I can.
-
Wow, no kidding. I knew you could learn tips and tricks but being a whole different rider from morning to afternoon? That's impressive. Don't get me wrong, I AM having fun and love doing this stuff - I just want to be the best I can be, that's all.
-
I'm not necessarily worried, so-to-say, I'd just like to be able to keep up with him at some point. I'm sure I will, it just takes experience. I was just curious with everyone else though cause the other guy that was with us (had a group of about 6 go but I only knew one of them) has only been riding for 4 years and he was pretty fast as well. It's just more curiosity than anything. It's not like I'm telling myself that if I have gone down there X amount of times, I should be a master by now.
-
It said I went down TO Southern Ohio...not down IN Southern Ohio
-
I bet she claims he was the one to cause her to fall - and this is how settlement money is made in divorces.
-
So, I started out with an R6 about 5 years ago and only had the bike for 2 years and had to sell it. I went down to Southern Ohio maybe 4-5 times through the course of having that bike. I recently bought my R1 a few months ago and went back down to Southern Ohio yesterday. The guy I was with was the same guy I used to ride with years ago. Granted, he's been riding a lot longer than me but I still couldn't keep up with him. Yesterday was my first time back on the twisty roads after several years. I know I'm still learning but I am just curious...how long did it take you to master these roads and keep up with the big dawgs???
-
Uh oh. Josh, when I just told you I wanted to learn from the best, I didn't know y'all did it this way! Haha
-
Looks like I was told wrong, lol. Still have to pay to use it I guess.

I think you have to be a member of that pool in order to get in. I don't think it's open to the general public from what I hear. But I've seen so much about this band online lately that I think it'll be worth checking out. I'm in!
-
Nice! I'm right on Sancus and Park Rd so I'm right down the street.
-
[/quote No problem. If your free on a Sunday/ Monday and feel like coming up for a ride I could show u a few. I wouldn't push it being your first time on em but they are a good time. I'd say Monday (if the weather is nice). I'll be at Norwalk all weekend for some races.

I don't tolerate gravel all that well, lol. I HATE gravel. It scares the crap out of me. I know I can't always have a clean path but you know what I mean. I haven't heard of some of those roads you mentioned so I'll have to do some riding! Thanks!
-
Oh yeah, I've done 315, Home Rd, Orange Rd, and Hyatts. I didn't know if there was anything further up into Delaware that I wasn't aware of. Like, "unknown" roads....where no traffic is. And, I'd love to get up that way if THIS FREAKIN' RAIN WILL EVER STOP!!! Good Lord, this is ridiculous!!!
-
I don't think they were a joke but I don't think they should have headlined. You have all these hardcore rock bands playing for a full 2 days and then all of the sudden it's immediately slowed down with them. But maybe that was their plan - to mellow out the show so no one was super drunk or stupid leaving on a Sunday night. Who knows. I think they belonged there but I'd rather see someone else headline. Just as you said, there's always next year...
-
That's actually what I meant...sliding halfway off I guess you could say. I don't actually pick my butt up all the way off and put it to the side of my bike, lol. That's to make you lean less??? When I do it I feel like I lean more. Hmmmm. Welp, I need to learn more, haha. Oh and what roads do you like?? In Del. County I mean....
-
Yeah, I don't think I'm horrible by any means but I know I have A LOT to learn. I am actually just starting to pick my butt up off the seat to lean a little more! There's not really sharp enough turns around my area that I can really get into them so that's what I'm hoping to get into when I get down to Hocking. And yes, I'm always up to ride (as long as I'm not working - hours vary day by day). I am right next to Polaris so if I ever take a joy ride, I usually hit up Westerville, to Sunbury and into Delaware. I'd like to find good roads that I don't have to travel an hour to but haven't found anything just yet.
-
Excellent! And many thanks to all the new people that have welcomed me!
-
Well that sucks. I was looking forward to Ride on Columbus. I went to their website and it looks as though they didn't have the funds available this year. Pretty sad when it's for Children's Hospital. But yes, something should be put on and we should all do a group ride/cookout, whatever. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys!
-
Oh I definitely plan to attend some Mid-Ohio days (even if it's just to watch). And getting to know people. As long as I don't have to work, I'll do my best to get up there.

Yeah the crowd definitely got rowdy for Trapt. I totally forgot how many hits they've had. The chick I took is a few inches shorter than me (I'm 5'8") and she doesn't have any trouble holding her own. I always jump in front of her if a pit breaks out to "protect" as much as I can but there's always taller dudes than me that help with the crowd surfers. Just gotta keep your eyes open and your head on a swivel, lol
