  8. The Recon tank bag from Rapid Transit is an extremely versatile, mid-sized bag that is packed with features. With a 19 liter capacity in a streamlined form, you'll have plenty of room to pack your essentials on top of the tank without feeling like you're sitting behind a suitcase. This mid-sized storage capacity is combined with a great set of features to make the Recon tank bag a great option for nearly any rider. The main compartment of the Recon has enough room for a change of clothes, a camera, and any other small miscellaneous items you may need on your ride. It even has a pocket for a water bladder (sold separately) with holes that allow you to route the hose through an external access slot for easy use. There are also a variety of small pockets inside and out that provide both easy access and a way to stay organized. External pockets include a cellphone/mp3 player pocket and a map pocket - both of which have clear viewing windows. While it may not be a top choice for the hardcore adventure rider, it does feature a 100D Nylon construction that is both wind and water resistant. There is also a standard rain cover that hides away in its own zippered pouch for times when the weather really takes a turn for the worse. The waterproofing extends to the access ports for the hydration bladder hose and headphone cords with waterproof gates on each. Great features can be found from top to bottom, and the bottom features scratchguard rubberized contact fabric so you don't have to worry about your tank getting scratched up while you ride. The bottom also has connections for a set of included straps that allow you to quickly convert the tank bag to a backpack. It's not always easy to find a bag that combines plentiful storage, form, and function, but the Recon does a great job of it. If you are looking for a great tank bag for your daily commute or weekend rides you can pick the Rapid Transit Recon tank bag up from Riders Discount by sending Nathan a PM or calling him at 866.931.6644 ext. 809 to order. Just let us know if you want the magnetic or strap mount and we’ll get you taken care of. You can also send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with Rapid Transit Recon in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away. 10. You know you’ve made an impact in your field when you’re given a nickname like “Maestro”, and this is what Dino Signori, founder of Sidi boots, is know as. Maestro Dino Signori founded Sidi in a small village called Maser at the base of the Italian Alps in 1960 where he first made a name for himself designing skiing boots and cycling shoes. Despite these motor-free beginnings, Sidi grew into one of the most well known motorsport boot manufacturers in the world with their boots being worn by world class riders such as Colin Edwards, Cal Crutchlow, Loris Capirossi, Alvaro Bautista, Hiroshi Aoyama, Scott Redding - and most recently for 2012, Tech 3 Yamaha’s Andrea Dovioso and Bradley Smith. Sidi boots will also be worn by the entire Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki squad for the 2012 AMA season. We are proud to offer this great line of boots and today we start by reviewing the flagship Vortice. The top of the line Sidi Vortice comes in both standard and Air versions. Both share the same design, construction and materials, but the standard has non-perforated leather whereas the Air is perforated. The most noticeable aspect of the boots when they are first taken out of the box is the number of visible screws. Just about every single part on each boot was designed to be easily removed and replaced. This includes the toe sliders, tensioner system, sole panel, thermoplastic panels, and Achilles sliders. This makes the Sidi Vortices extremely crash worthy due to the ease of replacing any pieces that may break. These boots are very easy to repair, but the appeal does not end there. These boots use a number of safety features, including the thorough use of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane). The entire structure and hinging mechanism of the boot is composed of TPU and only allows for proper range of motion needed but does not allow for any torsion of the ankle or foot. The front of the shin as well as the entire back of the calf shell are composed of TPU reducing the common risk of foot pegs to the shin or calf impalement. When you pull the back TPU calf panel away it reveals a moisture wicking inner bootie that helps keep your foot cool and dry on the hot summer days. This, combined with the multiple vents that can be opened or closed for varied air-flow, make them extremely effective at keeping your feet comfortable in a variety of conditions. Sidi also added unique cable tensioner system that allows you to adjust for a custom fit every time you slip these boots on. The cables can be tightened down by easily twisting the knobs found at the calf, shin and instep. All three adjustment points make use of a durable nylon cord that you’d be hard pressed to break, no matter how tight you ratchet them down. With protection developed at the top levels of racing, plenty of comfort features and a highly adjustable fit, the Sidi Vortice is definitely a great option to consider if you are looking for a new pair of boots. All of the available replacement parts also make them a pair that you know you will get your money’s worth out of. These boots have an MSRP of $495 and they are not yet listed on our website. Be sure to shoot us a PM or give Nathan call at 866.931.6644 ext. 809 to order a pair today. You can also send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with SIDI VORTICE in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away.
  11. Riders Discount is now proud to offer the #1 pair of motorcycle gloves on the market - the Held Titans. This is not a claim that we are not just throwing out there. It is backed by a large number of independent tests from all over the world. The Held Titans were designed to offer uncompromising safety, and this becomes very clear when you read the list of materials that went into the production of this glove - kangaroo leather, stingray leather, Kevlar, titanium, and carbon fiber. Held could not have built any more safety features into their flagship pair of gloves. The first thing that nearly everyone notices on these gloves is the stingray leather (yes, real Stingray leather). The stingray leather found on to the major abrasion zones of this glove is something that you won't find on any gloves outside of the Held brand. Stingray leather is extremely abrasion resistant and it is actually slick, meaning that it will not grab or catch while sliding. Standard cowhide gloves can catch while sliding, which results in injuries from the hand flipping. Most riders tend to throw their hands out in front of themselves to break a fall and this instinctual reaction can also lead to injuries. Held helps combat this by adding carbon fiber sliders below the base of the thumb and the outside of the hand, below the pinky. There is also a large piece of stingray leather with a shock absorbing gel backing running along the base of the palm. In addition to the exotic stingray protection, the Held Titans feature some more familiar materials as well. From the end of the guantlet to the tips of the fingers, the entire topside of each glove is lined with Kevlar. This is Held we're talking about, so you know they didn't stop there. The top of the hand is also guarded by a Carbon-Aramid-Kohlehybrid shell that stops where the knuckle protection begins. The knuckles are guarded by a titanium covered carbon fiber piece that is heated to just over 840 degrees F before being pressed into shape. Held also added shock absorbing padding for more comfort and extra protection. The amazing attention to detail that Held puts into the safety features carries over into all aspects of the Titan gloves. Each Titan glove is made from 150 individual pieces and it takes around 90 minutes of sewing time to complete a single pair. This elaborate construction means that you end up with a pair of gloves that is not only highly protective, but also very comfortable. Helping with the comfort are the step seams that Held uses. They remain strong while never creating pressure points or interfering with the feel. Elasticated leather panels add to the comfort by making them flexible and giving them a broken in feel when brand new. If you’re looking for the best of best glove on the market today, look no further than the Held Titan. These gloves sell for $349.99 and Held requests that they be sold for no less than this amount. We feel that a glove of this caliber is worth it due to their superior quality and top-notch safety standards. You just cannot buy a safer glove. These are not listed on our website yet, so order your pair by calling Nathan at 866.931.6644 ext 809 today! If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot us a PM or send a note to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with HELD TITAN in the subject line, and we’ll get back to you right away. Available in black... and white/black from Riders Discount. One feature that is new to Held is the connection between the ring and pinky finger. This prevents against dislocation of the pinky in the event of a fall. Not all riders love the feel of having fingers connected, but it is easy to cut between the two seems to release them if you choose. Stingray leather is extremely abrasion resistant and very prominent on this glove. To give you an idea how strong Stingray leather is - using the same friction wheel, kangaroo leather is chafed through after only 4,000 revolutions whereas stingray leather was chafed through after 20,000 revolutions These gloves also feature a handy little shield squeegee on the left index finger for keeping your shield free of moisture.
