  6. Another MotoGP round at Mugello always means another special Drudi Designs helmet for Valentino Rossi. The Doctor is always known for his out-there lids, but this year’s design was especially eye-catching – please excuse the bad pun. Now available from Riders Discount is the new limited edition AGV GP-Tech Valentino’s Eye helmet. We all know that Rossi’s first season on the Ducati didn’t go quite as well as planned, but this didn’t stop him from sending a message with his Mugello helmet. The Doctor issued two quotes regarding the meaning of the eye. The first refers to his 2010 crash at Mugello that resulted in a compound fracture of his leg: “Look out, Mugello can hurt you.” The second is a notice about his future: “Watch out, because sooner or later things will turn around.” In addition to the giant blue eye dominating the top of the helmet, the Drudi design incorporates the Italian flag to pay tribute to the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, the sun/moon insignia, and as usual, Vale’s dogs. There are many ways that you could interpret this design, and you can have all the time you need to reflect on it’s meaning if you add it to your collection. This limited edition helmet is not listed on our website yet so be sure to call Nathan at 866.931.6644 ext 809 with questions or to order. You can also feel free to shoot us a PM on this forum or send a note to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with AGV ROSSI EYE in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away.

  13. Straight off the peg, the Spidi T-2 WindPro leather suit feels like a well-seasoned suit thanks to its excellent cut and a 1.2-1.3mm thick high-quality cowhide chassis. Every aspect of the Spidi T-2 suit was designed with the rider in mind with ideally-placed flex panels and neoprene collars for maximum comfort. This is, in fact, Spidi’s second generation in their T series with improvements being made to the CE-certified protectors as well as the cut of the suit to enhance rider protection and comfort. Provisions for a Spidi Warrior back protector and Spidi Warrior Chest Protector are also included to augment the impact absorbing properties of the suit. Limited inventory remaining: Red/Blue 44 (1) Red/Blue 46 (1) Red/Blue 48 (1) Retails for $1300, your price is $849 while supplies last. For more information and expert sizing assistance, call Nathan at 866-931-6644 ext 809 to get yours today. You can also send email with SPIDI T2 LEATHER SUIT in the subject line to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away. Spidi uses Keprotek stretch panels in areas that are the least likely to contact the ground in a fall. Between these and the supremely supple leather, the suit is flexible and remarkably comfortable. In areas that require stretch panels, but would be unsafe to use anything but leather, Spidi employs elasticized panels to permit a useful range of movement. Here’s a close-up view of the left shoulder flex panel. These panels are created by attaching leather to stretched Lycra sheets via rows of stiches and they can be stretched up to twice as long as their resting configuration. Elasticized leather panels are also used just above the knees … … and in the lower back. To keep the rider cool, Spidi employs two approaches. First, and most obvious - are the rows of die-cut perforated leather. Depending on their location, these perforations can be very dense with smaller holes or very sparse with larger holes. This is also done in the interest of safety since more holes means there’s less material to keep the leather together in a sliding type crash. The front of each Spidi T-2 Wind Pro suit is highly perforated. The second method Spidi uses to cool the rider comes in the form of a full-length mesh liner. This liner keeps the leather away from the wearer, allowing air to pass through and around the body. It’s also extremely useful at keeping the leather itself from sticking to the skin. Further enhancing the suit’s ability to keep the rider cool, a pair of intakes have been installed in front of each shoulder where a great deal of air can be expected to enter while the rider is in a full tuck. A look at how the suit is assembled reveals several rows of stiches in all of the right areas. Various stitching techniques are employed to hide critical seams from exposure to the pavement. Furthermore, some seams are protected by additional layers of leather on the exterior of the suit. CE-certified impact armor is employed in the shoulders, elbows/forearms, knees and hips to reduce the chance of injury in a fall. In particular, the knee protectors can be moved up or down for a perfect fit over the wearer. To facilitate the use of Spidi’s Warrior Chest Protector, a separate pocket has been sewn into the front of the suit. This negates any need for straps to hold it in place. We also found it useful for other popular brands of chest protectors like those from Alpinestars or Forcefield Armour. The back hump is an aspect that the style-conscious rider will truly appreciate. Spidi uses what is simply the largest aerodynamic hump we’ve ever seen on a production leather suit. But the larger size denotes a special use not found on other one-piece leather suits … The hollowed-out aero hump is Spidi Hydroback-ready, allowing the rider to carry 70mL of fluid with him that’s readily available via a straw that fits neatly onto the collar. This is the second rendition of the WindPro suit developed by Spidi with input from their top riders in MotoGP.
  14. 3.55 lbs and in my opinion the X11 and Grid fit very similar.

  16. It looks even better in person! A retro throwback to the original Rossi replica.
  17. New from AGV for 2012 is the Grid, now available from Riders Discount. The Grid is the successor to the T-2 in the AGV line-up and borrows some of its predecessors design cues, as well as features from the top of the line GP-Tech. This combination creates a reasonably priced mid-level helmet at a reasonable price. The Grid features a Super Super Light (SSL) fiberglass, carbon fiber and Kevlar composite shell with IVS ventilation channels formed directly into the outer shell for a seamless look and design similar to what you’ll find on the GP-Tech. It also comes with a tear-off ready clear shield, plus a three pack of tear-offs, meaning that it is ready to go right out of the box. The Grid uses the same shield as both the GP-Tech and T-2 helmets, so if you’ve already purchased these popular AGV models you can transfer shields quickly and easily. Speaking of transferring shields, those of you with the current GP-Tech model know how stiff the shield change mechanism is. While the Grid uses a similar tool less shield mechanism as the GP-Tech, it’s a much lighter spring allowing for even easier shield swaps. AGV gave the Grid a newly shaped interior that features 3D padding design for improved comfort and fit. The fully removable liner is made of Dri-Lex and Coolmax - both of which make this helmet skin-friendly and easy to maintain. Every piece of the padding, even the neck roll, is removable and washable. The 3D padding in the neck roll contours to your jaw line creating a virtually seamless seal. This, combined with the large chin curtain greatly reduces wind buffeting. Behind the large chin curtain is the chin vent with an easy and simple up down slider that is large enough for a gloved thumb to control. There are two additional vent controls for the front upper intakes along with two open exhaust vents in the rear and on the side. The AGV Grid is an excellent helmet providing many of the same features and qualities as the GP-Tech but at a very reasonable price. We’ve found that sizing is nearly identical to the GP-Tech and T-2 helmets. These aren't listed on our website yet, so call Nathan at 866.931.6644 ext 809 or shoot us a PM if you are interested. You can also feel free to send a note to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with AGV GRID in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away. Shown here is the Rossi Sun & Moon '96 replica with an optional dark smoke shield
