Winter is right around the corner and unfortunately for most of us in the US this means we'll have to put away our toys for hibernation. But what is actually involved in preparing a motorcycle for winter storage? Some people are okay with parking their bikes for the winter just as they left it after their last ride and while that may work for some of the warmer climates, it's not recommended for those of us in the frozen north. There seems to be a lot of confusion as to what is actually involved in getting a bike ready for winter storage with varying opinions from every rider. In this thread you'll find a general idea of what is required to get your bike through the winter and out on the other side as good as you left it. We're going to highlight some of the best winter prep products here, all of which are available from Riders Discount. If there is something you don't see here but want for your winterization needs, contact our expert sales staff by giving MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Prefer email? No problem, send us a message through this forum with the products you're looking for or write to us at FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM, and we'll get back to you right away! So what are some of the key winter storage products available to prep your bike for the cold season? Stands to prevent your tires from flat spotting, anti-freeze for coolant, fuel stabilizer to prevent your gas from breaking down, fogging oil to prevent cylinder corrosion, battery tender to keep your battery fresh, and a bike cover to keep your bike warm. Just kidding, a bike cover will help keep your bike clean and partially dust free throughout winter. One thing not pictured are muffler and intake plugs to keep pests out, although a couple paper towels stuffed in your exhaust and intake should suffice. Street riders likely already have anti-freeze coolant but it never hurts to give your bike a good flush and refill every year. If you have ran any kind of track time this year, there's a good chance you don't have anti-freeze properties in your coolant and getting it changed out is a necessity. There are numerous options available for anti-freeze and we sell them all. Pictured here is Maxima Coolanol. Engine Ice is also common and available from Riders Discount as well. Fuel stabilizer is recommended if you plan on storing your bike for longer periods of time. Now, regarding batteries, if you have a lithium ion battery, remove it, bring it inside, and store it in a closet. These shouldn't need a charge, however if you think it may, go ahead and give us a call and we'll get one on the way for you. If you have an OE style acid battery, plug in the Battery Tender and leave it. That's it. You don't need to remove it from the bike if you don't want to. One last thing, a common misconception we've seen is to start your bike periodically through the off-season and get it up to temp. You can look at it from time to time but you really don't need to start it up. Just let it sit and fire it up come spring time. So what do you guys and gals do to get ready for winter? (Be prepared for California riders to post up a witty remark about them continuing to ride...)

Just like his all his most recent helmets, Cesare and Cecilia make an appearance on the back of the lid underneath the distinctive breakaway spoiler. Three large intake vents provide a massive amount of air flow through the helmet which exhaust through the two vents on the back of the lid. Want to place an order? Give MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804 today!

Alpinestars GP Tech Suit - $2199.94 MSRP -- Advanced -- The best mass produced suit on the market -- Fit runs a bit larger than normal Alpinestars, recommend going one size down from your normal size -- Alpinestars GP Tech Suit Full Review As close as you can get to the Race Replica without paying the price. The GP Tech is 15% lighter than the Race Replica too. This is done with a mixture of kangaroo and cow leather. The benefit of kangaroo is that it's lightweight but still offers excellent abrasion resistance and stretches better to fit multiple body types. CE protection is integrated in to the suit plus the external PU sliders are proven technology derived from MotoGP and WSBK. Other notable features are rubber coated knees on the inside to help grip the bike better and accordion stretch panels on the calf for better fit for those of us that don't skip leg day. Available in black, white/black/red, and red/white/black Alpinestars Race Replica - $2899.95 -- Top of the line advanced -- Alpinestars Race Replica full review The Alpinestars Race Replica is the same suit you'll see the pros wearing on your TV. The only difference is their suits are custom tailored and have the Tech Air airbag system installed. The highest level suit produced, the Race Replica uses premium leather with an aggressive race fit cut. Even the ventilation is carefully considered so as to provide enough airflow for the rider but yet not poke too many holes in the leather to compromise the strength of the leather. There is an abundant use of accordion leather and Kevlar stretch panels. This suit will feel even tighter than the others at first, but will be the most comfortable on the track. Available in black/white/yellow (shown here), black, white/red

Buying a race suit can be nearly as difficult as buying a motorcycle it seems. And with retail pricing ranging from $799.95 to $2899.95 for Alpinestars suits, it is a decision that isn't taken lightly. We're going to go over the available Alpinestars suits to help better inform you on each one and hopefully allow you to feel more comfortable about your purchase. First, let's talk about fit. One of the most common calls we get from customers who just tried on their new suit is that it doesn't fit right and/or it doesn't feel comfortable. More often than not, they are basing this from standing up in their living room and walking around the house. A race suit is not meant for either of these scenarios, they're meant for the rider to be on the bike and carving up the track. The first thing we're going to ask you when you call with concerns about the fitment is how does it feel on the bike? When you first put on your new suit, it's going to take a lot of work and you're going to look ridiculous putting it on, that's a given. We've all been there. After you get your suit zipped up, get out to your bike and sit on it. Get in a tuck, get your butt off like you're going to drag knee (be careful and make sure it's on a rear stand or have a buddy help hold the bike). Does it feel comfortable now? Is it hindering your movement at all? These are questions to ask yourself before determining if the fit is good, or if the fit is off. If you think it's still not fitting right, give us a call and we'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have or exchange for a different size. Ladies, we have suit options for you too. Give us a call if you need help with sizing or if you'd like to purchase a suit. The complete Alpinestars' suit line covers a range of riding styles, from Sunday morning cruises to WSBK level race suits. First up is the Alpinestars Motegi Suit - Alpinestars Motegi Suit - $799.95 MSRP -- Entry level -- Motegi two piece options available -- Alpinestars Motegi Suit Full Review The new entry level suit from Alpinestars. This is a great all-around suit that is perfect for carving canyons or tackling a trackday. Alpinestars designed the Motegi with a less aggressive cut than the ultra-aggressive higher end suits, meaning that it is possible to stand up off of the bike without it feeling like a workout. This doesn’t mean that it is any less comfortable on the bike, however. The Motegi features durable Aramidic stretch panels that run down the length of the underarms, sides of the torso, crotch and back of the legs for increased mobility and comfort on longer rides. Available in black/white, white/black, black/white/red, white/black/red, black/white/yellow (pictured here), and black/white/gold Alpinestars SP-1 Suit - $899.95 MSRP -- Entry - Intermediate level -- Closeout -- Alpinestars SP-1 Suit Full Review The SP-1 suit from Alpinestars is a full-on race suit and one of our most popular selling suits. It's easy to see why they've kept this suit in their lineup since 2009. CE-approved GP armor is found in the knees, elbows, and shoulders and has the option of adding in the Alpinestars Bionic Race back protector and Bionic Race chest guards for even more protection. This suit is heavily perforated in the chest, legs, arms, back, and the race hump, and perfect for riders in the warmer climates or the humid mid-west climates. Available in black, or white/black (limited sizes) Alpinestars Orbiter Suit - $899.95 -- Intermediate -- Alpinestars Orbiter Suit Full Review The Alpinestars Orbiter suit puts an emphasis on providing a comfortable riding suit that can handle multitudes of riding styles. This suit is the best all-around suit offered by Alpinestars. Perfect whether you're just out for a ride, carving up the canyons, or at a track day. Alpinestars has accomplished this by incorporating proven protection technology with new ergonomic features such as an offset zipper and copious amounts of stretch material, such as across the chest. The Orbiter is available in the black/white/red shown here, and black/white. Alpinestars GP Pro Suit - $1199.95 MSRP -- Intermediate - Advanced -- GP-Pro two piece option available -- Alpinestars GP Pro Suit Full Review One of the first suits we see in the Alpinestars collection to have heavy influences from MotoGP and WSBK development. This suit has DFS (Dynamic Friction Shield) protectors in the shoulders and elbows. Whether you drag your elbow on purpose or by accident is your choice, but at least you'll be protected! A removable, washable mesh liner will help keep this suit fresh for long into its wearable life. Also notable with this suit is a 3D mesh sleeve and ankle cuffs for breathability and added comfort with gloves and boots. Available from Riders Discount in black/white/red (shown here), black/white/grey, and black/white/hi-viz yellow. TheGP Pro two-piece suit option is available as well in black, and black/white/grey, however it is not perforated. Alpinestars Atem Suit - $1499.95 MSRP -- Advanced -- CE-approved -- Alpinestars Atem Suit full review As briefly noted, the Alpinestars Atem suit is CE-approved. Not just the armor or specific areas of the suit, the entire suit is CE-approved. This is without a doubt one of the safest suits ever produced. Alpinestars has accomplished this incredible safety rating using high-grade, highly abrasion resistant leather with additional leather reinforcements in impact zones. Adding to the protection is an array of armor that use much of the same technology found in the Race Replica suit including DFS protectors on the shoulders, elbows, and knees. The Atem is a suit that, while expensive, actually offers a great deal of bang for the buck. There aren’t currently any other suits that offer this kind of high-end tech at a price near it. On top of that, we think it’s one of the best looking suits on the market! Available in black/white/red (shown here), and black/white and black/white/yellow.

Finally an easy and simple solution to add BlueTooth capabilities to your Nolan N44 or N104 helmet, the Nolan N-Com BlueTooth B4 Plus. If you've had a Nolan helmet before and tried to add BlueTooth, you know that there were multiple pieces to purchase and install. Now, it's just one part number, and one part to install. Best of all, it's a seamless installation and the system works with multiple other communication brands. Included in every kit is the N-Com B4+, battery, USB wall charger, 3.5mm audio cable, and MicroUSB cord. Available from Riders Discount, this is not going to be listed on the website yet but if you would like to place an order give MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Is email more convenient? Send us a message through this forum or write to us at FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM, and we'll get back to you right away! Installation takes only a few minutes. The electronics and battery fit like a cartridge in to the back of the helmet. The keypad mounts on to the left side and is super easy to use even with gloves on. The speakers slide into the pre-formed pockets in the shell itself. The only tool that's really necessary is a small allen key to release the lower trim from the helmet. This Nolan N-Com B4+ can connect with other intercom systems like the Sena, Cardo, and more! This means you and your buddies don't have to all have the same communication device to be able to talk to each other on your rides up to a distance of 800 meters of open terrain. FM Radio is included and you can set your presets with the Android N-Com app. The N-Com app is probably one of the better apps we've used to connect to our comm devices. Easy to use, and easy to set your preferences within the app itself. On the bottom of the electronics pack is is the MicroUSB and 3.5mm jack connector. You can charge the B4+ and update software through the USB port and the 3.5mm jack allows you to connect to a variety of different devices such as iPod, GPS, onboard motorcycle audio, and more.

The Akrapovic brand is likely the most well known exhaust brand in the world. The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team uses Akrapovic exhausts along with the WSBK Aprilia factory team and the 2014 Daytona 200 winning Riders Discount Triumph team, just to name a few. Ask any two-wheeled enthusiast who makes the best exhaust and more often than not you'll hear them say Akrapovic. Check out the local bike night and you'll notice most bikes with an aftermarket exhaust will have an Akrapovic system installed. And now they make exhausts for your Honda Grom. This is a brand new exhaust for the Honda Grom and not yet listed on Riders Discount's website. If you would like to place an order, give MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Is email more convenient? Send us a message through this forum or write to us at FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM, and we'll get back to you right away! An Akrapovic exhaust for your Honda Grom will not only allow it to breathe better, but sound like a little monster when you open it up. Not only will it sound better, but your power and torque numbers will increase 4.5% over stock output. The Akrapovic exhaust for the Honda Grom is available as a full system or slip on with either a carbon fiber or titanium canister. The full system includes the slip on plus a titanium head-pipe weighing in at just under 3 lbs on our scale with the carbon fiber canister. Consider the stock system weighs about 11 lbs with the muffler alone at nearly 8lbs, this is a huge difference in weight. Check out that beautiful color change after breaking the exhaust in. Installation was a breeze. This is easily doable as long as you know how to turn a wrench. 30 minutes and a few bolts later, you have yourself a brand new Akrapovic exhaust installed. For just the slip on it's even easier as it is just the clamp and the muffler strap that need to be secured. This system is CARB compliant for California Grom owners, and meets EPA noise level requirements of 80dBA with the noise reducer installed. Everything necessary for installation is included with your order. Give us a call to order your exhaust system today!

An updated design on one of our most popular throttle kits, Motion Pro has made this kit even more compact with a smaller throttle housing and an additional progressive throttle rate reel. Includes everything you need for a full installation, included model specific throttle cables. This is a brand new kit and not yet listed on Riders Discount's website. If you would like to place an order, give MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Is email more convenient? Send us a message through this forum or write to us at FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM, and we'll get back to you right away! In the Rev2 kits, you'll find an additional "RR" throttle cam included. This is the new progressive throttle reel that offers a sensitive initial throttle opening that is key when modulating mid-corner throttle and an aggressive throw up top that allows you to quickly get to full throttle. The initial sensitivity compares to between a 35mm and 40mm reel, and at the top end sensitivity falls between a 45mm and 50mm reel. 35mm, 40mm, 45mm, and 50mm reels are also included. These reels are easily changed out once the full kit is installed. You could throw on a 35mm reel in heavy rain conditions to keep you from accidentally applying more throttle than you need, or throw on the 50mm to go wide open real quick. If the 50mm is too sensitive or the 35mm isn't sensitive enough, switch it up between the options until you find a throttle rate to your liking. The housing included in the Rev2 kits is also much thinner, a full 10mm thinner. This gives you more room on the bar for brake lever placement, or allows additional room on the end of the bar for brake lever guards. Give us a call with any questions you have or if you'd like to place an order!

Held excels at many things when it comes to the production and design of their products, but one thing that stands out is their attention to detail. This stereotypically German approach to design is apparent when you take a closer look at the Phantom II gloves. Here's an up close and personal look at just a couple of features to show you what we mean - Held's stepped seams are a great solution to pressure points on the fingers. They are incredibly strong, yet you can barely feel them. Perforations between the fingers are large and allow more air to flow through to your hand than you might expect. Interested? Give MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804 to order yours today!

In the middle of our installing the Ohlins fork cartridge kit for the Honda Grom - Annnnnd done! What do you think? Installation was relatively easy and took us a little over an hour from start to finish. The most time consuming part was removing the fork bottom as we had to heat it up to unscrew it from the lower fork tube. Also pictured is the Tyga top triple clamp and carbon fiber clip ons which are also available from Riders Discount.

Well, enough time has passed that you should really already know Marc Marquez was crowned MotoGP World Champion for the second consecutive year at Motegi. If you haven't, well that's actually really impressive. Only 21 years young, Marc already has a few replica helmets available to purchase and each of them is available from Riders Discount. Check them out below - Shoei RF-1200 Marquez Black Ant - MSRP $626.99 The Black Ant was used during the 2012 winter tests before his 2013 championship winning season. Originally seen on his Shoei X-12, this one has been adapted onto the RF-1200. The matte black finish contrasted nicely with his white unmarked Honda RC213V during testing. Shoei X-12 Montmelo Marquez - MSRP $839.99 This particular one was used at the Circuit de Catalunya during the 2013 season. Montmelo is the name of the town where the circuit is located and about an hour away from Marquez's birthplace. It's easy to see why he holds this place so close to his heart. Shoei X-12 Motegi Marquez - MSRP $839.99 First seen at the Motegi 2013 race where he was supposed to clinch the championship at Honda's home race. Unfortunately, limited track time and unpredictable weather delayed securing his championship until a later race. He brought back a nearly identical design for the 2014 Motegi race. Shoei X-12 Marquez 2 - MSRP $839.99 Marc's main lid and what a great looking lid! You'll notice on most of them that there is some sort of ant used in the graphics. Marc stated that he chose the ant because it is the world's hardest worker. That's a pretty accurate representation of the rider who is currently re-writing the record books before our very eyes.
