  1. My Aunt made no mention of repainting. Only that my uncle was the second owner of the car and she didn't know of any mods done to the car. She says that it is all original. Not so sure on those wheels, though???? the VIN is 1F05H107151 I ran the VIN on this site: http://www.decodethis.com/VINDecoded/tabid/53/Default.aspx?vin=1F05H107151
  2. A forum member on another site decoded the VIN and said that it is indeed a '71 351C 2V. As for price, I am not part of that discussion but I will reply with my Aunt's email address and anyone that is interested can discuss that with her.
  3. Where? Darn it, I will be out of town but would love to know where this is being held. I found the Hill Climb but I am starting to hate riding the road and looking to do some dirt. I love watching these trials guys but I have only ever seen demonstrations.
  4. Shows how much I know. I thought Clevelands were Big Block and Windsors were not. If this was a 429cj, I would have it in my garage but since it is not and I am not a big fan of the body style, I took a pass. Just too far into the bike thing these days. Price is negotiable through my Aunt and she at $8,500. I will reply to the individuals that are inquiring with her contact info. This car has low miles (54k), body is in good condition for its age (no major rust) and probably needs just a little work (fuel, fluids, hoses/belts) to get running. Full restore would be different.
  5. Nah, this is what you do to old Yamahas, or Ducati or HD.... http://mulemotorcycles.net/p7hg_img_8/fullsize/2-Gabe650-037_fs.jpg Mule Motorcycles are just so awesome. Wish I had the coin for a project.
  6. Flying from the Pacific time zone to the Eastern time zone is particularly problematic as the airports impose large landing fees for flights touching down between 11pm and 6 or 8am. As such, you rarely get flights after 6pm. Southwest does have a 5:55pm flight into Chicago - Midway. Airports in the Central time zone will buy you an hour but I don't think you can get to Albuquerque in time for this flight. Better to fly in the AM anyway, less likely to run into a summer Midwest thunderstorm. Never connect through Dallas in the summer and never connect through Chicago in the winter. My personal rules of thumb for booking flights.
  7. As an Economist and Libertarian, I share many of his views in part or theory and have proposed similar policy changes that Ron puts forward. In many cases, Ron's ideas have considerable merit but many fail to go far enough or are just a bit off. On the whole, he is much better than anything the other parties have come up with. Funny thing, if we won, I am sure we would finally see bipartisanship. Both parties agreeing to disagree with him. As a Libertarian, I do not agree with his stance on abortion and he could have a much stronger political position on homosexual (marriage/military) issues. I could see him making a real effort to reverse RvW and for that, I could not support him in the past and I will not support him in the future. He defaults to the "States Rights" argument far too often and co-sponsored the Marriage Protection Act. While, he might argue, that he did this to force states rights, I find it more as an attempt to protect DOMA. Shame, as I would really like the Libertarian party to become a viable 3rd party.
  8. Agree, I like the '69 and under cars and that is largely why I took a pass on the car. Plus, my garage is full of bikes. On the plus side, '71 or '72 was the last year of the big motors. This one has the big block, 351 Cleveland in it (or so I have been told). Wish it was the 429CJ and I would have taken it, automatic or not. Here are a few pictures and if anyone is interested, send me a PM and I will get you in touch with my Aunt.
  9. Hi all, My uncle passed away this spring and my aunt would like to sell his 1971 Mach1. It is an automatic with the 351 Cleveland. Only 54,000 original miles. I am editing this post in another attempt to get the car gone. My aunt had someone take a look and based on condition and what it would take to get it running, $8500 is where she is at now for the car. I will see about putting up some pictures.
  10. I was going to go but the wife just boofed my weekend plans. I have to go to Chicago now. ACC and Blackhawk even let me down as Chicago track day options.
  11. How much of your butt is off the seat and where is your head? Your knee doesn't have to touch the ground to be fast but having proper/good body position is essential to be safe. Like others have said, take it to the track and save the streets for joy rides.
  12. New or used, what do you want to do? Sounds like you are in the sporting mode. The nakeds: KTM SuperDuke, Triumph Speed/Street, Ducati Monster, Honda CBR1000R, Kawi Z1000, Ducati Streetfighter, Aprilia Tuono, Shiver are all good do it all options and many can be found used or as left overs. Quite a few left over Tuonos still around. For the money, really hard to pass up the BMW1000RR if you are going sport bike. If you can wait, Ducati and Honda are coming out with new super bikes in 2012 and there might be sales. Honda blowing out 2008 CBRs for $6.8k was a deal I should never have passed up. KTM SMR/T, Ducati Hypermotard, Aprilia Dosoduros are wicked fun Sumos for the street. Powercruisers get you the Vmax, Triumph Thunderbird, Ducati Diavel. Suzuki has quite a few nice options of you step into the 600 range. Hard to beat the Gixxer 750. IMO, the 750 might be the best deal in the marketplace next to the S1000RR.
  13. Rent a truck/van at Uhaul and transport it to a dealer/repair place of choice???? Can the tire be plugged?
  14. If you are going to list BlackHawk, might as well throw in Autobahn. Probably a sore subject but anyone have news on Bluegrass?
  15. Not sure about NC but in many states, non-insurred can go to the "county" clinics for medical care.
  16. Ugh, day late. I should have contacted you yesterday. I will shoot you a PM just in case your buyer backs out.
  17. Rain conspired against me this morning so I did not make it out on the bike. I did make it over to Independent with the family and then headed into Columbus for some Jeni's ice cream. Managed to catch the Pride parade. Quite an entertaining morning but we did miss the OR Aniv. fun.
  18. Bummer, looks like he might be out for a couple more rounds. It is amazing how these guys can come back and ride at these levels so quickly.
  19. Dman you to all hell for posting that up. Lost 15 minutes to that. Pretty cool though.
  20. What a lazy arse whiner, wanting something for nothing and complaining that it is tough. BITE ME! I just spent an entire Saturday at the bureau. I walked in 8 times, took a number, waited my turn and stewed about it the whole time. I had to take both tests, back to back, to transfer my DL. Then proceeded to take 3 cars and 4 motorcycles up to the DMV to get titled and plated. Two of them required me to go rent a trailer as one was my track bike and the other doesn't run at this point. After it was all said and done, the DMV lady informs me that I might have been able to pay some guy from a dealership to come to my house and do all the vehicle inspections as once. UGGHGHGHG, I almost cried at that point. Ya, it sucked but I did what was expected of me as an upstanding citizen of OH. As for that MSF course, best thing you could ever do besides buying and wearing a helmet. I thought the same thing about repeated questions but when I thought of it, it makes perfect sense. Bike, motorcycle, truck, bus or car - in the end, it is an operator license and everyone needs to know the same rules of the rode regardless of mode.
  21. Holy yard sale, Batman.
  22. Glad you enjoyed the class. Very beneficial and I always recommend them. On another note, anyone ever taken the Advanced options? Once I get the bikes plated, I am thinking of taking one of the two offerings as a refresher. I am wondering what they cover.
  23. Wow, you are one lucky man. I hope you bought a lottery ticket. It is never the going down part that I worry about, it is the getting run over part that scares the crap out of me. Glad you came through OK on both accounts. Thanks for reminding me why I never ride along side a cager. Front, back but never, ever to the side.
