First year startup and I don't think they have the capacity to pump out thousands. I saw it at the Indy dealer show and was pretty impressed. Motus guy says he can turn laps on it at Barber just a bit slower than on his Gixxer. $10k lower and I think they would be on to something. I wonder if Falcone signed on to be a dealer. Norton and Motus in the house will get me to stop in for a visit.

Anyone ever rented out a track and had their own private trackday??
Revelstoker replied to Dubguy85's topic in Track is Crack
Nasty, doesn't sound like fun. So, do you think you got more air time than Checa at Phillip Island this year? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj8bW1n8eIw -
I have taken a quick spin or two down the street in the subdivision a few times just to make sure the bike is operating ok before a track day. But, I would never think of exiting the subdivision.

VW owns Audi. Kind of fitting as both companies have had quality and reliability issues since inception. VW/Bugatti/Porsche/Lambo just doesn't seem like a good fit. I thought Fiat would be a good fit as they already have Magneti Marreli for the electronics and Ducati/Ferrari would be a match made in heaven for cross-branding and promotion. Maybe Fiat is still bitter from the Piaggo experience a long time ago.

Left work early. I must have past at least 30 guys on bike or scooters. Took a quick 20 mile ride and then fired up the BBQ.

My Best Man is from T-Town (teutopolis) and I went to college not too far up the road in Charleston. Good riding is on the way over on the way back = Bloomington, IN and Brown County. I could be up for this event.

Good to put some faces to the names. Wish the weather had cooperated but given the overall all severity of the winter to date, not so bad. Though, 1st day of spring is only 16 days away and riding season will get started.

Best KISS video ever. KISS covering an 80s classic.

double dick!!! So not cool. -
Race 1 would have been epic had Checa not highsided. Man that guy got lucky as that was one nasty off. Biaggi in Race 2, amazing. So amazing that I also began to wonder what changed on the bike from last year. It looks like it will be a Checa/Biaggi battle for the title with the decision based on which one Fs up the most.

Ok, cabin fever, WSB race and nice days just pried $195 out of my wallet. I am in for Novice on Sunday. Anyone else from Dayton heading over? I have a trailer that will hold two bikes. Never been there so I decided against Intermediate, time to watch some videos, I guess.

Fixed it for you. Only bikes I have seen for $3,500 are older models or track bikes. Late model street sportbikes in good shape are going to run you closer to $6k. BOL on your search and I wish you all the blind squirrel luck in the world for you on this quest. http://dayton.craigslist.org/mcy/2867146137.html

Not suprised. I am giving quite a bit of thought to jumping in with you all as I really do want to try out Mid-O on May 13th. Though, the whole purpose of buying the SMT was so I could ride to these events. I do want to avoid the trailer ride home this time.

You have to negotiate better or maybe the rates are higher due to June vs May 12. Ducati.MS crew is getting: -RATES: $69 for double queen room. -RATES: $109 for two bdrm cabin 3-4ppl: (queen bedroom + 2 single bedroom) -RATES: $169 for three bdrm cabin 4-5ppl (queen + 2 single + bunk)

UGGHH, quit being a cheapass and make the investment on a good helmet. Shit, family of 4 for lunch at ChikFila is $40 and a night out with a date can cost twice that. A helmet is good for a least 5 years. Reco, move your budget up to $300 as that will open up a much larger selection of quality lids. Then, look for last year's model on discount. Here is an example of a way to save a few bucks on a quality lid: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/38/5766/ITEM/Shoei-RF-1000-Solid-Helmet.aspx

I have $2,550. Going once, Going twice... ??? As for gear, the stands are all I need.

not too much. Last time I did it, I took my bike to the bike shop and they packed and shipped for around $50. It was easy for them as they had all the bike boxes. Now, that was a while ago so maybe $100 today. Bikes are not that heavy, just bigger boxes. Pull the pedals, loosen/spin the bars and take off the wheels. Pretty easy to set up once it arrives. Ugh, just a bit too big: http://bend.craigslist.org/bik/2847872850.html

Cruise Craigslist for western cities. Portland, Seattle, Denver, SLC,.....There are alot of nice rigs out there for around $1k, especially in your size. Biggest challenge is finding one that fits and fits the type of riding you want to do. Geometry seems to vary quite a bit more on the FS rigs vs the hardtails. I love my Rocky Mountain Element but it is overkill for the trails I have found in/around Dayton. As such, I am looking to go back to a hardtail. Here is one for you: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-Rocky-Mountain-Element-Sport-18-/290660311458?pt=Mountain_Bikes&hash=item43acb461a2

After moving back to the Midwest, I find myself missing my old hardtail. I would take a Moots YBB if I could find one but I have been thinking about a carbon rig. I haven't followed the bike manfs for a good 10 years and the last time I was in a decent bike shop, most of the new rigs were going for over $3k. Single speeders are tempting but not shifting can cure that desire. Any thoughts or reviews on which way to go for a current hardtail? I am not sold on the benefits of the 29's but then, it didn't think a full suspension would be worth the weight until I got one.

I was and still am quite partial to this version:

That would be this one for me if I was to go around the world in the southern Hemi. This one in the N. Hemi:

Getting a dedicated track bike is a good idea as you don't have to worry about wadding up your daily rider. I have a ratty old Ducati 900ss that I have a blast on and I think a lot of that comes from not worrying about trashing my daily rider. No insurance. Car insurance covers it while trailering, I believe, that is what the agent said. As a track bike, you don't have to register it or title it unless you want to. I did get mine titled with OH as an off road vehicle to transfer the title to my name. Nothing wrong with the CBR as a track bike, just a bit of overkill. 1199 is one sexy machine but at 20K, I don't think I could ever bring myself to ride it in the manner it was intended.

2011 KTM RC8R RS (Race Spec) for sale - NEW!!
Revelstoker replied to Moto-Brian's topic in LBTS GLWS
I forgot his name. He was CRing that day, I believe, and was having fits with the bike in the morning. I think he managed to get a battery and finally got it running. Cool guy, smoked a cigar and wore a set of really trick yellow boots. I think I really wanted the yellow boots more than the bike as they would match my yellow Helimot gloves. -

Damn how I hate you for putting that up here. I drove all the way to Louisville to check this bad boy out when Commoto got one in. Then I had fun getting towed around Little Tally by one of these bike. Really nice, so want one, yet so not worthy. -
Best of luck and I hope you can pull it off. I would love one of these, http://motoczysz.com/motorcycles/e1pc_2010
