  1. Who's in? http://www.commoto.com/events/ http://www.indyducati.com/events/ Advanced: Intermediate: Revelstoker - game time decision Novice:
  2. No kidding. I thought this forum had a strict "no four letter" words policy. Or, at least in this section.
  3. Bingo - we have a winner!!!! thanks for that reminder.
  4. 5 page waiver that reads like it is more for driving their cars or riding one of the former KTM bikes. Really, any lawyers out there that read this thing as much of it doesn't seem to apply for a track days. Do we really have to bring titles: During certain Events, Participant may be permitted to use a Participant-owned and/or supplied vehicle ("Participant Vehicle") and The Mid-Ohio School may permit other participants to use vehicles they supply and/or own ("Third Party Vehicles"). Participant agrees that prior to operation of a Participant Vehicle at The Mid-Ohio School, in any Event and/or in the Restricted Area, Participant shall provide The Mid-Ohio School evidence of the following: (a) Participant’s ownership of the Participant Vehicle (such evidence shall include producing title and registration of such Participant Vehicle).
  5. Better than Barber or have you not been to Barber? I have read some reviews, watched the videos and looked at the map. I have this one on the bucket list.
  6. The boys in Attica, San Quenten, Statesville,..... should be offered positions first.
  7. Orange Painted forged would be best of both worlds. I so want to put these orange on the SMT:
  8. I could be down for that on Sunday and I am riding Novice as I have never been to MO before. Also, anyone good with suspension setup? I have a book and basic understanding of the concepts = a whole lot of nothing. At Putnam, I had my suspension set but it was determined springs were too soft. I should get the forks and shocks back and on the bike by the 12th but may not have enough time to dial them in.
  9. Thanks. Flying solo so Days Inn sounds like a plan.
  10. Man, if you were closer - we could share. I finally got the wife and kids out on the lake last year and they loved it. Getting a boat is very desirable but getting something to pull it will is another problem.
  11. LOL, you all missed the best riding of the day. I found the sweet spot with no traffic. http://electriceyeimages.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=1W9E000M010298&po=298&pc=2355 The tractor just loves the green stuff. I was following the girl on the yellow Yamaha http://electriceyeimages.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=1W9E000M010295&po=295&pc=2355 and was going to try and get around her. Poor execution but good learning experience.
  12. I am in for Sunday. I asked this a few weeks/months ago but may have missed a reply. Where is a good place to spend Sat. night? Is there a place I can just sleep in the van or any reco on a decent hotel?
  13. Depending on definition, America has already failed. Where is Thomas Jefferson's America now? Quotation: "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny." Gee, thanks for putting Cheney and Bushy in power twice. Now we have the Patriot Act, TSA that won't go away. Microsoft was about to get screwed and two wars destroyed the NATO Economies. 4-years of state school costs $100k but if you can run really fast and not read, it is free. But, much worse than all that, we are getting this: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/03/28/nsa-dismisses-claims-utah-data-center-watches-average-americans/ http://rt.com/news/utah-data-center-spy-789/ Yep, US Gov is and will be no different than the tyrannical systems that the founding fathers fled. No longer a gov't by the people and for the people but rather One gov't on it's own to monitor, analyze and persecute any and all that disagree. In all seriousness, I am probably going to go back to cash and unplug the net. Canada is starting to look really, really good.
  14. Newbie setup (much of which you should have): Uhaul trailer - $24 a day Uhaul hitch - $200 Eze-up tent - $60 Tie downs - $20 Chair - $30 Leathers - $500 Gloves - $125 Boots - $125 Helmet - $300 Back protector - $150 painters tape - $10 Advil Cooler gas can Novice bike prep = tape lights and remove mirrors (if you can). Change out antifreeze for some WaterWetter or other. Your done. 2-piece leathers with 360 zip will work for most orgs. Int - now you start needing the 1-piece and no antifreeze. Org rules vary with some requiring some wiring of parts. Advanced - worry about that if an ever I make it.
  15. I felt sorry for the Test the Track guy that went down on the first session. Older gent and I meant to go over and have a chat but I spent most of the morning in the van getting warm and dinking with tire pressures.
  16. I don't know - #1 issue. I am not sure what model Penske shock I have but I am 200lbs naked. Website http://www.penskeshocks.com/Motorcycle-Spring_Chart.php says 550. I don't have bike stands or even exposed rafters to lift the bike up. I might be able to pull the shock off but no-go on the forks. Who is this Rueben in Indy (checking website)? I have to pass through Indy on the 4th and coming back on the late on the 6th but I doubt a Saturday is enough time to get the work done. I so need a garage that doesn't look like a storage unit and a job that consumes less than 60hrs a week.
  17. I finally managed to get my bike to a suspension guy and get a baseline setup. Front sag is 35 and rear is 41 with max pre-load after adjustments. My springs are too soft (front and rear) and my Penske shock (rebuilt last year) is leaking fluid. I don't have the time, space, or equipment to take all the stuff off and send it to someone for repair. I can bring my bike to someone and pay them for their labor to strip it all off and fix it. So, in the Cinci-Dayton-Columbus area, I could use a recco on a place to take my bike. '01 Ducati 900ss with stock forks (fully adjustable), I think. We couldn't find the compression screw due to axle sliders and last I session was just about to start.
  18. I hope they choke on the coin they made for over selling the event. Boys sure do have a strong following to pull all those people up from St. Lous area just so they could park their frickin RV-sized trailers horizontal and take up all the space. Anyone get caught up in that 4-5 bike smash-a-roo in T4 the first session of I? Morning sucked and I was having all kinds of fits. New tire on the rear was squirming all over the place for the first two sessions and front decided to start trying to slide out on the left handers and some of the right (T2 & T7) all morning. (yes, I let air out and put air in - Dunlop Q2s) Perfect when half of the 100 guys in I were on warmers and slicks. Well, I finally managed to get the tires heated up (braking a lot harder, riding harder helped), scuffed in and paid a visit to the suspension guys around 2pm. Weather, track and bike all came together for the last two sessions. Granted I was playing in the slow end of the grid, I did start to catch and pass some of the slower guys out there. I found a new line through T8 and I am came away pretty pleased. I went looking for tags but couldn't find you all, though I am sure everyone got a good look at my bike with me riding down the middle of the front straight. Only one with white urinal cakes for sliders. Now, here is where I can use some help and I am going to make another post. I need springs for my forks and rear shock. Dbl-Bonus, my newly rebuilt Penske shock is still leaking fluid. In the Dayton-Cinci-Columus area, where can I take my bike and have springs put into the stock Ducati forks, re-build and spring my rear shock??? I do not have the time, place or equipment to take all that stuff off and send it but I can bring my bike to someone and leave it with them.
  19. $12.9 for an '07 1098 (not an S) seems a bit rich seeing as the bikes retailed for $15k new. Try this one on for size: http://www.ducati.ms/forums/128-bikes/133023-fs-2007-ducati-1098s-s-loaded.html
  20. So, are you saying that you will be passing on the inside and/or less than 6ft? Or, that you won't be passing at all? If you are thinking that there will be no passing opportunities, I am sure that I am more than capable of ensuring that will happen. T8 is still my nemesis at Putnam but I am determined to figure that bad boy out. As far as numbers go, I goofed and managed to buy a bunch of 6's. Long story, so I am going to go with 96 in 6" numbers. So wrong to have 6" numbers on the helmet but oh well. Question, can I just make up a number like that or should I pick up some letter like K to go in front K96 or 96K???
  21. I attended an X-act track day event at Little Tally last year. One of the CRs in the novice group was on his Gold Wing. He made a lot of the faster guys look silly. Also for your water-buffalo bike types, you "MAY" have to take out the glycol anti-freeze and put in water. Depends on the track org. but it seems some are even asking for it in Novice now. STT only for I and A. http://www.sportbiketracktime.com/track-day-regulations.html
  22. On a few long trips on the super slab, I would put the ear buds in my helmet liner and listen. But, never in my ears. Though, stopping to change tapes was a pain. If I was to take a long trip again, I would probably do the same.
  23. Free rides on the Ducati dirt tracker? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ducati-Hypermotard-1100-GNC-AMA-Pro-dirttracker-flattracker-racer-race-ready-/190666523579?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item2c649c43bb
