  1. Brand new Vertigo Corsa, (not the most current generation). Bought from an eBay estate auction. Nice features on a high quality boot. Great for street, trackday, or race! First $200 takes them. Email me if interested, longdogracing@gmail.com

I actually bought two pairs and rode one set this season. Essentially, I didn't feel like a 40 in Sidi was the same fit as a an Alpinestars 40, so I'm going to get another set of those. The sidi were closer to a "7", and the A*'s fit closer to a "6.5".post-13965-0-54288400-1384009565_thumb.j

  2. How many Novice days does it typically take before getting bumped up to Intermediate? Putting around for the first four sessions of Novice kind of sucks.

If you feel you're ready, ask one of your Coaches for their opinion.   I've had to bump down a few riders this year from Intermediate to Novice.   While Mid-Ohio's registration process allows the customer to choose their riding group, we reserve the right to ensure the safety of others by placing you with your appropriate skill level.  Personally, I've always seen it as a confidence booster to have a coach give you the thumbs up and tell you that you are ready.  Also, there was no putting around for the faster guys in Novice on Tuesday.  From the first session on, both of my students were riding very well and were never inhibited by the slower guys.

Look for me.  I'm Justin (with the blue LongDogRacing leathers, #53 on a black GSXR600), I'll gladly give you a candid assessment of your riding, and do my best to prepare you for the next group.

Yeah, I was bummed to see Randy bin his XR1200!  It was a great looking bike!

  3. i'll be there.

be sure to take advantage of the coaches. we're there to help YOU succeed and meet your riding goals! work with us throughout the season so we can see you progress. tell us your name, and remind us when we forget! keep working with the same coach, or work with all of us. you'll get great perspective and a large amount of knowledge!

  4. just wanted to rib on ya for having such a nice toy! i agree that saving money (and making tradeoffs) on some things makes you appreciate the nice stuff more!

google the T-Rex stands. they are on the lower end of the price spectrum, but still hold up well. i use them for my SV.

  5. As far as your neck chafing, you can take a dremel to the rough areas to smooth them out, or have a smooth-side-out leather patch sewn on the collar.

yeah, i've had Alexa do all the appropriate alterations. i guess i just have issues with the way i position myself that chaffes. no worries now, the turtleneck should help, as well as provide some protection from the sun (which usually burns me pretty good after a race weekend.

    You Army BDB?

  6. seat time is king, my friend. if you are just getting started (in racing), then the shock upgrade and freshening the forks would be a good way to begin the season. no sense in upgrading until you are out-riding your current setup. others may disagree, but i've been racing for a while now, and wish I hadn't spent so much in my initial years.

jump on in, the water's fine!

  7. agreed. the racetech pieces are nice, but for a few bucks more you could spring (pun intended!) for a nice aftermarket shock that has the right spring rate. personally, Elka's have never done me wrong on the racetrack, and have saved me quite a bit as compared to the big "O" or a penske. PM me for the name of a good Elka vendor. (or, if you do want an Ohlins, PM me for the name of a good vendor)

  8. yes, i won my first race at CMP. really nice track and facility (to include restrooms). certainly not as much elevation change as barber, but definitely fun and challenging. I was able to learn the track quickly, so racing on the following day was not an issue.

if you are racing, keep in mind that turn 1 is very close to the grid and there isn't much room to really push it with a ton of bikes all fighting for position. if someone is going to be a butthole about it, just let them go and you can catch them in the next couple of corners as everyone settles in.

    good luck!
