Its not a bad car, I just know nothing about them and working on them is not as easy as I was expecting. lol We put a bunch of money into it and it runs good. Will make a nice winter car.

1998 Golf GTI VR6, 5spd, black leather interior, fully loaded. Car runs and drives well. Just had the window lift motors replaced, the tensioner and accessory belt replaced. New battery installed. Fresh oil change, spark plugs, air filter. Car will someday need the clutch replaced, and the rear stub axles. And it needs a radio. It has no rust, it was a North Carolina car. It runs and drives perfectly fine as is, but the clutch slips if you are not easy on it. A new clutch online was around $150 and I was told they are pretty easy to change out. I bought it for a winter car and changed my mind. I decided to go back to something that I know and I am looking at a few porsches and subaru's. Asking $2600 Or best offer. A threat of violence POSTED ON CR is a bannable offense. If I walked up to you on the street and threatened you with violence, it has nothing to do with this car forum. It was not posted here, nor was the idea concieved here. So it has nothing to do with us, other than someone thought it would be funny to post the aftermath. Which ended up not being funny, but we can't ban someone for a bad joke or a bad sense of humor.... if we did that, half of the rest of CR would be gone.

It needs cleaned first. It is filthy! Its black on black, leather interior. Once I get the window fixed and clean it up, i'll post pics.

No idea........ The car is the 2.8 6cyl if that helps at all? Whats vagcom? This car just makes me feel like anything I have learned about cars has been tossed out the window. Oh and many thanks to Paul for helping me attempt to figure something out on this car. Anyone that has one of these cars want to come over for a bit to help try to figure this out? Maybe bring your MAF before I go buy a bunch of un-needed parts and toss crap at it.

Just bought a 98 GTI VR6 yesterday at an auction. The car is having some issues, it is tossing the code P1580 (throttle actuator b1 malfunction). In first gear if I let off of the clutch at all while moving it will die. I have to hold the clutch halfway down an accelerate to get the car to move at all. It does this in every gear. Once you let off the clutch it feels like you hit a wall and it just doesn't recognize that you are pressing down the gas pedal. I could not get the car past 3ed gear as I couldn't get enough speed. It is also tossing a MAF malfuction code. We took the MAF off and it looks clean, almost new. It has a K&N filter installed (very dirty). We put fresh gas in it and had the accessory belt and tensioner replaced as both where shot. The car has obviously been sitting for a while. We pulled the air filter out and I attempted to drive it, felt slightly better for a minute but not a major improvement. Sitting idle the car revs and sounds good. Only when in gear and trying to drive it, it has issues. Should we be looking at wiring, or sensors or a clutch issue?? I know next to nothing about VW. Any help greatly appreciated.

I know nothing about VW's except it seems like a cool little car and it goes up for auction tomorrow. I want a daily driver for winter. Something that all 3 kids can fit in the backseat of. I was looking for something along the lines of a Maxima or Subaru. But we saw this today and its tempting to go bid on it. I can't drive an automatic and since this is a 5spd, seems like a good option.

Anyone know the process of making this annoying "Maintenance Required" light go away on a 2007 Volvo S40? Its had all required service and just had an oil change and stuff today. Need to figure out how to make the light go away now.

I don't even know why I clicked on this. I scream when seeing a spider the size of a tiny dot. When I look at the lizards in petstores, I sometimes make the mistake of looking in a teranchula's home and instantly get chills and feel the color drain from my face.... Getting chills even thinking about the little bastards.
