Roads are a little less crowded earlier, and its a little cooler. Its damn hot down there in the summer. Fat boys like me sweat ya know.

A couple months ago CW did a comparo on Multi, Stelvio, Triumph Ex and S Ten. I shows the Multi as a great all arounder, the best on the pavement, second only to the S10 off road. But again someone elses opinion, all bikes mentioned above and throughout this thread are all the shit any of them are great bikes. It all comes down to which one appeals to the individual. The Triumph Ex looks bad ass, great motor but CW editors called it a pig off road so who knows, one of us could ride it and fall in love.

I'll stick with my FJR at half the price. Isn't that a pushrod motor.

Looks like we have some strong opinions on this subject. I've done my homework,checked out reviews, lurked on forums,spoke with owners of a few different ADV bikes. One of my friends spent two weeks on a BMW/ GS in Spain this summer, didn't like it. My boy CobraT has a KTM and loves it and if I'm not wrong he got rid of his Multi. Know a couple of guys with V Stroms swear they're the stuff, not for me. The S10 till gets the nod. On the other hand I'll probably sell the FZ1 to some lucky person this spring. But that's another deal.

Been there April thru late September, weathers always a crapshoot in the mountains. Last June it was 80s in Fontana high 40s at top of Cherahala. You never know. One things for sure I've gotten rained on at least once every time.

Saw the pics of V Strom concept, gotta admit it looks pretty hot. I don't need an off road hot rod, just something better suited to the gravel & dirt roads like you see in the NFs and coal company land. Not in a hurry to buy anything yet.

Not looking for off roader, but there's a lot of roads my current bikes wont deal with.
