  1. Ha....ok, went ahead and replaced the guides, valves and re-cut the valve seats. Didn't want to have to open this motor up ever again. Head is finally assembled for the last time. Need someone to help me get the jug on, its sorta a 2 man job.
  2. I rock a bell vortex grind, the pattern would jive with black and white gear, its Snell and dot, the venting is great, its pretty light and comfy, my only complaint is wind noise from the speaker recesses but I hear you can just cut some foam and stick it behind the cheek pieces to fix that. 3. Eh, my dad is retired, house is payed off and he's fucking loaded. If he wants one, he will go pay cash.
  4. Super jelly, those are some great bikes, enjoy it.
  5. He already has an Acura that will handle the twisties just fine. Sure a can am won't take a curve like a sport bike, but I bet they're still fun.
  6. As long as you're aware of just how far-reaching an effect your opinions have.
  7. And that's fine, you are entitled to your opinion and welcome to use it to guide your own purchases and decisions. Its when you whip your opinions out like they're a dick and try to slap people in the lips that I take offense to. I don't like trikes either, never have, just not for me. My dad isn't crazy about them either. He's been riding since he was a kid, now he's in his 60's. 30 some odd years of standing on concrete for the Goodyear tire and rubber company has taken its toll and he's got a bad hip. He could ride comfortably if he never had to put his feet down, the transition from pegs to road just kills him. He still deserves to ride, to experience the road in what ever way he can, so why shouldmt he buy a can am so he can continue to ride?
  8. Look into a CETME. My stepdad has one, great rifle. Or if you want to spend less overall and much less on ammo, a dragunov/pmr type rifle will do some serious work and 7.62x54r is as cheap as it gets for high powered rifle ammo.
  9. I know, even tho I've been riding for a long long time, it was only a few years ago that I started really riding...and only after joining this forum and picking people's brains, reading books, watching videos, going on a few group rides....I feel that my skills have been steadily improving over the last couple seasons. I keep saying I'm going to do some track days but never get around to it, too much stuff I don't have. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get much better without some track time tho, so maybe next year. Anyway, my muscle memory is decent now, I've trained out a lot of bad habits and trained in some good ones (like not riding on a bald rear tire really fast on unfamiliar roads 2 hours from home).
  10. Quite the libertarian view magz. People are free to ride as long as they ride what you want them to ride.
  11. True, I think some people see trail braking and rev-matching/throttle blipping at downshift as a matter of preference. If you can tip in fast enough without shortening your trail, why do it? If your clutch can handle the downshifts and your ass end doesn't hop or slide, why bother? I try to do both as a habit on the street if I'm riding anywhere near hard, to hopefully add to the muscle memory.
  12. Where he talks about speed, angle and radius. Close quote is 'the guys that tell you to just roll the throttle and push the inside bar are crazy'. I do like how me makes the distinction between street and track, riding with your friends vs against them. All in all good advice, and ill take free good advice wherever I can.
  13. People nowadays can't fucking commit to anything.
  14. Been reading it in the physic magazine that gets mailed out monthly. Good advice but it contradicts Keith code in twist 2.
  15. Kieth code already disproved the whole leaning and foot peg thing in twist of the wrist 2. He proves that the only thing that makes the bike turn is the front wheel turning. Pressure on pegs or leaning of body weight just offsets the center of gravity slightly causing the bike to attempt to right itself by turning the bars. So even tho you get a little bit of turn, its only because the bars are moving.
  16. Lol, I can still live my life 10 seconds at a time in the bedroom.
  17. I'm an acceleration junkie so there are aspects of drag racing that appeal to me but the twisties are where its at. Straight lines are for fast bikes, turns are for fast riders. Not that I'm that good, first to admit my bike is faster than I am, but I learn every season and my skills improve.
  18. This forum is full of dicks, assholes, rednecks, douchebags, FUCKTARDS and meatgazers. Ignore everyone. Welcome to the shit-show.
  19. Needs a 'caution wide right turns' placard like semis have.
  20. You saw him whack his buddy in the head with the shovel right? Seems like it spread the impact pretty good.
