  1. Got my 03 bandit 1200 today and man is she a great bike. I can't get over the power delivery, smooth and constant and lots of it. Its taking a little getting used to the different seating arrangement but it was comfy enough to ride all day. It may get me in trouble, I can't help but giggle like a kid while stretching 2nd gear out. After riding the 1100 shadow, which was a good bike in her own right, the raw power of the i4 1200 is a welcome change. Still getting used to the handling, the tip in is very abrupt but that may have more to do with the shinko ravens than anything else. I've already managed to scrub off the previous owners super wide chicken strips tho. It came with givi hard bags and top box which look horrible but hold a ton of shit. All in all for $2700 I'm happy, already ordered a yoshi rs3 to replace the heavy, almost silent stock can.
  2. He's very tight....tight like a tiger...
  3. 911 call was for fire so the fd was there. I'm guessing by the time they got there the structure was fully involved. If it was safe to enter and rescue we must assume fd would have. Dad couldn't accept that and the cops probably saved his life. At least nobody can say he didn't try.
  4. Welcome to the circus side show. Nice bike!
  5. Put $500 earnest money (knowwattimean Verne?) Down on the bandit until the insurance check clears, then she's mine. I'm stoked, a super comfy bike with enough power to keep me interested, hard luggage and a big seat for wifey with a top box to lean back on. Plan on upgrading the suspenders with a gsxr1100 shock, replacing stock can with a yoshi rs3, fender delete, rear hugger and some other goodies.
  6. Ok. A guy that came to look at the shadow I'm selling today has a truck and trailer, told him I'd knock a few bucks off the price if he helps me out. We will see if he follows up but he said he would call and set up a time Saturday to come buy the bike. If not then I would appreciate your help Derek.
  7. Also has broken turn signal and the bars are tweaked.
  8. That's right. My gently wrecked vt1100 can be yours for $1 per cc. Left side of bike is cherry, right side has dents and rash on tank, scuff on front fender, brake mc, mirror and rash on pipes. Motor runs great, mechanically perfect and complete maintenance done like 1500 miles ago. New back tire, new-ish front tire with plenty of meat left. Comes with a set of new pads and shoes and both factory and loud aftermarket slip ons. Salvage title.
  9. Ah, reverse torx. AutoZone carries the sockets for those...or at least they did
  10. Should hopefully have a bike this weekend, pulling the trigger on a 1200 bandit as soon as I get a check from insurance. Maybe meet up Saturday? I'm a professional mechanic, I could look at your sliders.
  11. Tempting, but I think ill go with the b12 I tested out today.
  12. I just leave the cap off while revving. The system isn't hot enough to pressurize and it shouldn't burp hard enough to spit coolant out.
  13. Need to compress the pistons back into the caliper so that the new, thicker pads will fit over the disc. This can be done with a prying motion with a variety of implements. Some prefer to crack the master cyl reservoir open to make it easier to push the fluid back up the lines. Your new pads will likely have a bit of a glaze on them depending on material, I scuff mine on concrete before installing. Measure your discs and inspect for cracking, warping, excessive brake material stuck on. Once its all back together be sure to pump the lever a few times to push the pistons back out. This is important. If you just hop on and ride you will find you don't have brakes for the first few times you squeeze the lever.
  14. Funny story: got hit by a car a few weeks ago, full gear, couple bruises. The other drivers insurance adjuster shows up last week to take pics of the damage, chin is one big scab, black eye, broken blood vessels in same eye, palms raw etc. He's like 'yeah, I just laid my 74 Harley down last week, left the kick stand down" me: 'were you wearing any gear?' Him: 'nope'. Me: 'that's why your face is all fucked up. I just got hit by a fucking dodge dude, and I'm ok because I'm smart enough to wear the gear' him: 'well lets take some pics of this bike...'
  15. Eh, the chick ain't my cup of tea, ill leave it at that to avoid being an asshole. I agree the cover promotes idiotic behavior, slam down a few beers and a margarita, hop on your bike with zero protection and look totally bad-ass all the way to the E.R. this is coming from an ex-pirate that used to get sauced at the busted knuckle saloon, then ride home in jeans and t-shirt. I openly shake my head right at squids and pirates riding around with nothing but dumb luck preserving their skins...
  16. If Brian keeps his trailer at work during the weekend that will work...
  17. The heat shields on my 1100 shadow were clamped on with just regular bolts. Take it to AutoZone and find a torx (grown-up for star) bit that fits. Remove the bolts and go to ace or home depot and find a bolt with the same thread. This isnt rocket surgery.
  18. Derek that sounds good if you don't mind running down to massillon to get bar's trailer then to marshalville to get the bike. If this is possible during the week but well before 2:00 then its possible.
  19. I need something bigger tpoppa. Probably going to buy this bandit.
  20. Yeah, plus salvage title makes the bike harder to sell. Buyback price is $300...
  21. Well that's half the equation.....just need something to pull it with.
  22. You mean the chrome shields that cover the pipes? The chrome heat shield is just clamped on, you take the bolts out of the clamps and then you still have to sort of pry it off because its held on by tension.
  23. I finally got my buddy's katana out of my garage and now its time to get my TL in and make her whole again. Unfortunately I have no way of doing that. That is where you come in. The bike is in a barn in marshalville, it needs to go to my house in massillon. Anyone willing to help a brother out? Ill compensate with gas, beer, hamburgers, lap dances or whatever flips your switch.
