  1. Head and jug after paint and before the laborious undertaking of busting the edges of the fins down to bare metal.
  2. Bottom end with pistons attatched. The priority envelope contains gaskets and seals yet to be fitted.
  3. Ok, was hoping to just lap the valves, install the new springs and shims and be done with the head. Fuck no. Did one cyl. Intake seal and guide were in good shape, went to install spring and shim and either my home made spring compressor doesn't jive with the shim or it goes under the spring seat. Moved on to the exhaust side, pulled the valve and the seal disintegrated. Check stem play and the guide is shot. Had to resort to coarse lapping compound to get the pits out of the valve. This adds about $80 for guides and seals and some serious time media blasting all the carbon off the guides before pressing them out. The build drags on.....
  4. That whole thing hides behind what we call a "false dichotomy". You present the assumption that there are only two possible choices and make one of them very unappealing. Anti-gun politicos do it all the time, like when they say 'assault rifles should be in the hands of our military, not in the hands of street gangs'. Not a good way to present your argument, especially if you value having any credibility as unbiased.
  5. 2400 peak isn't much, should run the fridge and some lights, maybe your furnace if its gas. Mine is 4k peak and it will run the fridge, microwave, furnace and sump pump. They make automatic Nat gas gennies that automatically come on and disconnect main breaker when you lose power but are very expensive. Even if you do manage to feed back into the grid the load will immediately flip the protection breaker on the genny.
  6. Those transfer switches are expensive as hell. I did my genny circuit for about $130 including the cable from genny to house. Home depot sells a 4 prong twistlock box for feeding electricity to a home. You wire it on its own breaker so the plug isn't hot (the box contains male connection so you don't have to make a suicide plug). Then you just kill the main breaker, turn on Tue backfeed breaker and whatever else you want to run. It's incredibly simple, took me about an hour.
  7. Interesting info here if you have a pioneer head unit. http://www.caraudio.com/forums/general-discussion/347148-loose-wire-touched-my-sub-amp-now-i-have-alternator-whine.html
  8. Oh, wasn't sure if it was a full re-instal or not....I don't see how grounding out hot speaker leads would damage the amp, worst it would do is get hot and blow the protection circuit. Something has to be amiss with your wiring or your grounding.
  9. You didn't happen to run your RCA cables right next to your power wire did you? RCA and power need to be run on opposite sides of the vehicle or the RCA cords will pick up emf noise from the power wire and whine/buzz.
  10. My better half is buying her brother's 2 yr old stainless appliances so I need to find a home for our old white ones. Fridge is a Kenmore I believe. Standard freezer on top deal, New ice maker (i replaced it last year) works great nothing wrong at all. Oven is I believe a whirlpool, I'm at work right now so can't be positive. White enamel, one small chip. 4 burner, digital clock/temp/timer. Works just fine, no issues at all. I can post pics If you don't know what a fridge or an oven looks like. Thinking $250 each, maybe make a deal for the pair or make me an offer.
  11. I hope I'm done with the Honda in time for this...
  12. I'm down for this. Anyone north of me want to meet up and ride down to millersburg with me post up. It's a straight shot down 241 from my house.
  13. Why is a motorcycle GPS so much more expensive?
  14. The scientific evidence backing creationism is overwhelming. Idk who can argue that the world's population came from 2 people, or that humans didn't ride dinosaurs. It's all right there in a book written during the bronze age, which as we all know was a period of scientific discovery and enlightenment...
  15. I seem to remember the alternator noise going away after I ran a bigger ground wire for my amp...what gauge ground are you using/whats it grounded to?
  16. Got it a summit racing, its pretty close to where I work. You can order it from them on eBay, I think its like $16/can shipped, or you can hit I 76 and go check out the store.I grew up down the street from summit, its definitely changed over the years.
  17. Yeah, 6" starret scale...I bet I went through 4 of them during my apprenticeship...
  18. Ah, didn't know that about the vfr. Hash marks and a scale work fine for me by scale I mean "ruler" for you non-machinists.
  19. Chain adjustment tool? Don't you just loosen the axle and use the adjusters on the swinger?
  20. Yeah....sorry for the thread jack but hey, you got a whole page of free bumps!
