  1. Yes the oil tank is vented to atmosphere....at least I hope it is.
  2. It's like you skimmed my post.... The trans breather vents into the oil tank (dry sump motor) which is pretty much atmosphere. I'm running open velocity stacks, that's why no airbox. The vent is currently ran to the back of the bike, that's what I did to my bike yesterday. Keep up man.
  3. Been having issues with crank case fumes billowing out of the little cone filter I put directly on the calve cover breather lately and figured that was not a good look. Bought a few feet of 1/2 ID hose and relocated the breather back behind the motor hoping that the fumes would cool enough to not look like smoke. Did not work. Wondering if it would be kosher if I used a T fitting to tie that breather into the trans breather that then vents into the oil reservoir. Trans and crank case should be at the same pressure, shouldn't hurt, right? Oh, also I took a can of engine bright and a toothbrush to the motor cases below the carbs and hosed it down, so it doesn't have those super cool brown gasoline stains that let everyone know 'hey, I own a cool vintage bike'. Adios, street cred....
  4. Ok but I don't get down that way too often. Maybe meet in between sometime.
  5. Let's meet up and trade off for a few miles.
  6. I've had my bandit for like 4 years, pretty much done modding it. Has 1100 katana cams, yosh exhaust, jetted up and k&n oval filters, timing advance, busa shock, I have a set of Sonic springs and some racetech gold valves to put in the forks if I ever get around to it. Your bike looks sharp, I've thought about going naked with mine, the plastics are pretty banged up. I'd end up going full retard with it tho and putting a koso gp style gauge cluster and some dual morimoto HID projectors. Also, I ride my bandit very fast and I like the wind protection from the fairing.
  7. Put stock foam and cover on my seat pan today and took pictures. Revved it in the garage.
  8. Pulled the carbs off the Honda, reset my float levels and fucked around with air screws and tightening intake boots clamps until it finally idles steady at 1200 rpm and doesn't hang after being revved or stall out after idling too long. New seat foam and cover arrive next Weds. In the near future I'll be replacing the rusty pitted fork legs with brand new shiny ones, ditching the huge stock headlight mount brackets for some little skeletonized black anodized ones and either painting or replacing the headlight bucket. This year is all about the cosmetics and making this bike look as good as it runs.
  9. I was going to buy a Savage title car a few years ago and my insurance company said they would not cover any salvage vehicle. I'm sure policy varies between companies.
  10. Buy that $1400 ex500 and call it a day. That bike is in your price range, doesn't look too abused, was probably dropped once or twice but almost any used starter bike has been dropped. Ex500 is enough power that you won't get bored of it but forgiving enough that a new rider won't get himself into serious trouble.
  11. Love the zrx, perfect blend of modern performance and old school cool. Almost bought one while shopping for my current bike.
  12. Got a new seat for the Honda. Looks like it will require some frame alterations in order to fit. I'm not going to hoop it tho, I like my rear fender. Thinking of removing the rear subframe cross bracing so it sits flat and unbolting the stock seat lock.
  13. Doubt it if the officer watched this footage. Pretty clear the driver cut off riders assured clear distance when he changed lanes.
  14. I could, but it's expensive. I can just hook up an AFR gauge and bar mount it, point a GoPro at it and do freeway pulls at different throttle openings to tune the carbs. Same thing a Dyno tune does, only on the street. I would like to know what kind of power I'm making after all the money and work I've put into the motor.
  15. Need to do some tuning, not trying to pull the carbs apart a hundred times. If anyone has an exhaust gas analyzer or air/fuel ratio gauge and a wideband O2 sensor thats not permanently attached to a vehicle I'd love to borrow it. Yes I can do the job without them. Just trying to get as close to perfect as possible without spending my life on it. Also considering purchasing a setup but would like to use one before buying to see if it's worth the cost.
  16. took the Honda for a spin. Pulls hard but has some carburetion issues. Really need an ega and a wideband, would save me a ton of time and work.
  17. Finally wrapped up my oil cooler install on the vintage muscle Honda. It fought me every step of the way but I eventually beat it into submission.
  18. The govt needs to protect Eddie vetter at all costs. He's all we have left.
  19. That thing needs a tune. Gsxr1100 motor is good for 130 hp easy. I think it made better than 115 stock.
