Yeah they are not cheap for what ya get, a 110% trail rated short wheel base crawler that is noisy as hell and not comfy on the road and gets shit gas mileage. I would love to have one as a 2nd or 3rd vehicle, but NEVER as my primary.

That is a great idea IMHO, probably much better than King Cobras. I like the bounty idea, put some loot on the line and the hunters will go hunting.

KTM does not have the reliability IMHO for me to trust it beyond the reaches of Ohio. And for the Strom 650 possibly not having enough get up and go, that is ridiculous. The 650 lump is bascially a slightly de-tuned SV650, but hey ya gotta buy what is talkin to ya. I wan't a Tenere next personally, love my C14 to death but like the ADV bikes much better.

And spending allot more money on a BMW, Moto Guzzi, Ducati, KTM, or a Tenere isn't gonna yield much better results if any.

Consensus is that they are shit.

There is "no better" all around choice for the money than the Vstrom 650, and don't let the only a 650 fool ya, they move along quite briskly. The 1000 is barely quicker in the 1/4 mile and the top speed on both models is more than enough. You will see at least 50 mpg on the 650, and they are reliable as a hammer.

Are you "sure" they need replaced? If leaking you should give this a try first, might just be bug guts or dirt under the seal. My WR was leaking really bad from one fork, used this and it totally fixed the leak. http://sealmate.net/

When the temps are near or below freezing, there is white stuff on the ground, the roads are wet "or dry" with salt residue, and the roads are littered with grit.....my bikes will stay in the garage hooked up to the battery tender.
