  1. The money has been in my account for quite a while but I don't have a definitive date on when I'm going to use it. Might be two weeks from now or might be two years. Waiting for the right house to pop up. I'd just like it to keep up with inflation if possible, although I know it's not with the way house prices are going...
  2. I have a chunk of change set aside for a house down payment that is just sitting there depreciating in my checking account. My credit union offers a decent interest rate on a portion of it but nothing on the rest and the only other option for earning interest through the credit union is a CD. Would it be a good idea to park the rest of it in an online savings account until I find something to buy? I can get 1.75% online but I'm not sure how mortgage lenders would view a large transfer back to my credit union right before the purchase. Anyone have any experience or recommendations?
  3. Anyone know what Kyle Hunter's new website is? He was at the track yesterday taking pics again and I assumed his website was still the same but it's not. Can't find it anywhere...
  4. Wet races and sliding on asphalt seem to do the trick for mine.
  5. Let us know your thoughts on it when you get it broken in. I've had a Speed Triple for the last five years or so but have been lusting after a 1290 since they first released that teaser trailer...
  6. You definitely weren't going to make that turn. That being said, I've done the exact same thing going WOT to the finish line right there in the wet to pick up a spot but I was on the outside. Thought I could make the turn if I started braking right as I crossed the finish but I ended up losing the front as I turned in. Personally I probably wouldn't have tried that up the inside due to the risk of collecting the guy on the outside as he tried to turn in but you did the right thing just going straight into the air fence because you would have hit the other downed guy or his bike if you did try to turn in to that corner at that speed. Lesson learned for next time...
  7. Looking for some race boots and a back protector. Had some Alpinestar SMX-S (I think) for a while that fit well and were comfortable but the toe split out. I think they were like a 9.0-9.5. I ended up getting a pair of Sidi Vortice boots in the same size but they are about 1/2 to 1 size too small. They are kind of uncomfortable but that could be because of the size issue. Not really particular about brand but definitely want something that fits well and has some decent ankle protection. My current back protector is an old Knox I got for free. It's getting pretty haggard and the GF offered to buy me one for my birthday so I'd like to find an upgrade with good ventilation. Thanks!
  8. Your wife must be really small to make a Grom look like a full size motorcycle
  9. If you guys haven't watch the series yet, it's pretty damn good!
  10. I thought it was just a bad movie. The Lexus chase scene was particularly bad with the sped up footage. Haven't seen something that cheesy since Torque! Really it seemed most of the CGI was crap.
  11. Semi-related, but I just watched Black Panther last night and WTF?! It was terrible... I went into it with high expectations from the stellar reviews but it was a total letdown. Was expecting Dark Knight/Guardians of the Galaxy level but it was like Fantastic Four bad. Sounds like Infinity War is better?
  12. Just got back from Cozumel last week, it was awesome and one of my favorite vacations for sure. Coconuts was definitely worth the stop! Some interesting content in those notebooks... If you're a diver, this place is a must. Epic reef diving on Cozumel and the cenotes (el pit!!) on the mainland are well worth a day trip.
  13. Sounds like everyone had a great time at the 1st round... still pissed I missed it! Can't wait for the next round! Any of you guys practicing at Circleville this weekend? Might be able to get the bikes prepped Sat and practice on Sunday.
  14. Well never mind, it sold over the weekend before I could get a rough quote on repairs. Probably for the best.
  15. Was wanting to keep the total price under $250k. In theory it should be easy to do in my area. Really don't need or want anything above 2100-2200 sq ft. 1800-2000 sq ft would be ideal I think.
  16. Well the problem is I'm kind of picky about what I want. I'm trying to find something in the country but still less than a 30 min drive to work, a larger lot (3 acres minimum, would prefer 5+), preferably wooded. Needs to have a large shop or room to build a large shop. I'd like to have room to shoot guns, ride dirtbikes, etc. No 100 year old farmhouses. Should probably just bite the bullet and build really. Hard to find anything decent around the Marion area.
  17. Strangely, the last two houses I've looked at with foundation issues have been built on a hill, with the bottom of the basement about level with the surrounding land. The latest one actually has a walkout. It's a full basement with cracks showing along the two long walls. They are buckled in about 1/2" maybe. There were also quite a few holes drilled into the walls; maybe they have tried to repair it before? Haven't gotten the disclosures on the house yet so I'm not sure what they have attempted.
  18. Has anyone bought a house with foundation issues and repaired them successfully? I've looked at several houses over the past year with basement walls that have started to buckle inwards. Of course, they were priced like nothing is wrong with the house and it's never mentioned until I actually go to look at it. I'm not interested in just strapping the walls or doing a cheap fix in an attempt to slow/stop the damage, I would want to completely replace the damaged walls. According to online calculators, it would be in the $30-40k range to replace the walls. Anyone done this? Is it fairly straightforward or a big risk? Debating putting in a lowball offer or just walking away...
  19. I'll be across the channel from you that week on Cozumel... We're going April 13th-22nd
  20. Did you guys do anything off the resort? I'm staying on Cozumel April 13th-22nd but will be taking a couple of day trips over there to rent a car, check out the ruins at Tulum and Coba, and dive a couple of cenotes. There is so much stuff to do in the area it's hard to choose...

My brother is working as an instructor right now flying helicopters in Arizona just trying to get flight hours in. I think he needs 1000 hours to get his full commercial license. He showed me his schooling costs and it was around $300,000 through some school in Utah. GI bill paid for it but still... not sure how anyone could afford that without it. If I were you, I would look into controls tech/engineering. There is a local tech school that has both high school and adult education with a good robotics/controls dept. 5-6 of their high schoolers just got hired to work part time for $18/hr, with a full time job offer upon graduation and a bump to $25/hr starting out. That is pretty damn good for just a two year program with minimal costs.
  22. You more than likely won't be able to find fixed interest rates that low. When I was shopping around fixed interest rates were always 2-3% higher than variable. Most fixed rates were 4.5-6% 2-3 years ago when I refinanced and that was with perfect credit. I agree that right now might be a bad time to go variable with interest rates likely to shoot up...
  23. I used Lendkey to consolidate my federal and private student loans. Went from 4.5-6.5% down to about 2.5% at the start, which crept up to around 3.5% (variable rate). I ended up paying them all off last year though, so I'm not sure what the interest rate would be right now. I tried other consolidation services like Sofi, but either my degree wasn't good enough (BS in mech eng), my school wasn't on their list (UC), or the interest rate was too high. I did have to open a checking account at the Ag Fed credit union and keep a minimum balance of $5 but it was very easy and fast to consolidate with them. Much easier to deal with than the dickheads over at Sallie Mae or whatever they call themselves nowadays.
  24. I watched the The Disaster Artist last night because of this thread. I usually like weird movies but damn, that was fucking terrible. I thought Franco did a good job playing that character but overall the movie was about as good as the movie it was about. Good movies: Dunkirk Blade Runner 2049 Logan Decent: Life Dark Tower The Shape of Water Alien: Covenant Baby Driver It Nope: The Disaster Artist Logan Lucky
