  1. Speed triple! Or if you're a baller, KTM 1290 Superduke! I love my ST on the street. Very comfortable, plenty of torque, just a very fun all around bike. Downsides is lack of wind protection and gas mileage sucks. If you've got the money, the Superduke is supposed to be better in every way though.
  2. Also walking on Monday for "I" group. Weather is looking good, but it's going to be a hot one. Does anyone know if registering two bikes is an issue? I would like to take my Speed Triple out for a session or two but not the whole day.
  3. They must have changed it in the past year or two. Before, the sessions before lunch were mostly instruction, then after lunch they cut you loose for open track time (with rules). If I remember correctly in the fast novice group we were turning low 1:50s before lunch...
  4. Just make sure you understand how much work getting the degree will be before you start. A two year technical degree would be fairly easy but an ME or EE BS is going to take some serious work, especially now that you have other responsibilities. Many programs are 5 years now with co-op requirements. It isn't just some fuck-around degree like business or communications. Since you have been out of school for a while, you will also likely have to take remedial courses before you can even start your normal required classes.
  5. It sounded like the advanced group got a stern talking to after the heli left... good day overall though.
  6. Beautiful day yesterday! "I" group was pretty much full so I didn't get many clean laps but it was a great first day of the season. I was #38 out of 40 and there were still people signing up... I walked on with a gift cert and they didn't charge me the extra $20.
  7. Set up a garden hose spray with a solenoid valve pointing at the doorbell, connect the door bell to the solenoid. Push the doorbell, get soaked. Maybe add a 10 sec timer to it so they get good and wet. Add a camera so you can laugh your ass off, then upload the video so we can laugh our asses off. Hell I'd probably just leave it hooked up that way permanently. Would be good for the Jehovah Witness's and in-laws too.
  8. Anyone watch the new Top Gear? It's about what I was expecting, meh. Chris Evans is okay I guess but Matt Leblanc seems to have the personality of a dead fish. Everything seemed so scripted and forced. I think they should have had Sabine as the co-host.
  9. Would have been better if Rossi was still in it... shit luck I guess.
  10. I've seen several properties in Marengo that would be just about perfect but it's too far of a drive for me. I want to keep my commute to Marion under 30 minutes. I'm not really looking for a custom home; I would probably just pick from a builders standard plan to try and keep the price down. Not sure if it's possible, but I would like to keep the total cost under $200k. Problem is I want a decent amount of land too, at least 2-3 acres at the minimum.
  11. I've been looking to buy a house in the Marion/Waldo/Delaware area for about a year now and haven't really been able to find what I am looking for. I have bid on two foreclosures but was outbid by a small amount both times. With the lack of inventory and high prices, I'm starting to think that maybe it might be better to just build. I'm looking for something on the smaller side; 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, around 1400-1900ft^2. Can anyone recommend a builder? Maybe share your experience? What to avoid? Not looking for a luxury build, just something solid that I can upgrade later if desired...
  12. I ended up going with a set of Supercorsa V2 SCs. SC1 front, SC2 rear. The Perelli redstripe slick I ran last year was only about halfway worn, so I'll just throw it back on if I wear the SC rear out before the end of the season. They wore perfectly and I went with the same size SCs, so I'm hoping I won't have to make any changes. Although, after seeing the price Ridersdiscount has on the SPs in addition to the $40 rebate, I'm tempted to pick up a set of those too...
  13. This is pretty much how they are all built now. Best thing to do is go with the cheaper, simpler model. Less to go wrong and easier/cheaper to fix when it does. I can get you discounts on Whirlpool/Maytag/Kenmore stuff if you are planning on going with new, just send me your email.
  14. The student loan interest deduction also gets phased out if you are making more than $75k a year too, and completely eliminated if you make more than $80k.
  15. I ran Q3's the year before last and they were great. Was running 1:44-1:45s on them for several days then lost the front end. I wouldn't mind running them again but I figure the extra $100 is worth the extra security and confidence that the DOT race rubber would give. After a closer look, the D211 GP-As might not be flippable? Says the GP-A Pro is though... Also they both only come in a 190/60, assuming I would need to change suspension heights coming from a Perelli 180/55? Maybe I'll just go with a set of Supercorsas. I can get an SC1 front and 180/55 SC2 rear for $315 shipped from STG. Shoudn't have to make any suspension changes then. I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them and the Dunlops anyways. Anyone know the difference between the V1 and V2? On a side note, does anyone know what changes are being made at MidO to accommodate the split intermediate classes? Shorter sessions? Longer day?
  16. How much are these going for nowadays? I would love to get one of these someday... soooo damn sexy.
  17. Do you usually flip both the front and rear or just rear?
  18. Going to be ordering some new tires for this summer and was looking at the D211GPAs on racetireservice.com, 7455 med front and 8477 med+ rear. Think these will hold up for 5 MidO track days at a medium/slow pace (1:40-1:45ish)? I would be running them with warmers. Is there a better/cheaper option or source? They're going on a 100rwhp R6, so they won't exactly be getting punished... I ran the Pirelli Superbike Pro trackday slicks last year and they did okay but tended to slide on a few corner exits. Only wore about halfway through them in five trackdays though...
  19. Stupid question for you guys; how do you handle tax reporting on stock sales/capital gains? Do you just estimate it at the end of the year? Does the brokerage firm you use send out a 1099?
  20. Would anyone have a recommendation for a dive shop in Columbus that will be open this weekend? I need to pick up a new mask and want to try a few on before I buy.
  21. They definitely still maintain P1; it was in great shape at the end of last year. They also extended the beginner trail across the road from P1 which might have been what you saw. It's maybe around 0.75-1 mile long now. The trails are probably still going to be wet for a bit longer, they had closed signs posted at the trailheads a week or two ago. Check the trail conditions at ohiosingletrack.com.
  22. Looks really good, reminds me of a 240Z.
  23. Sheeeit! Yea I can see spending that on something really nice, not on a $30k truck. I figured I should be able to get a decent quality job for $200 though...
  24. I need to get my Tacoma done too. The two detailers around here F'n suck. One knocked the sideskirt loose on my Evo and the other one scratched up the clear plastic over my gage cluster on my Taco. Both of them said they were "like that when I brought it to them". $100 gets you a shit job around here. I would gladly pay $200 for a professional level job once a year...
