Watch craigslist like a hawk. Last year I picked up a bone stock, rust free '97 hatch with 140k for $1500. I spent another $300 on new headlights, front lip, coilover sleeves, a subtle looking quiet Apexi catback, new alternator, and some paint for the trim and steelies and ended up with $1800 in a good looking EK hatch that costs less than $30 to fill up and got 42 mpg average out of the last tank. Winning.

My 03 Cobra was my first rebuilt car. It was cleaner and tighter than most of the clear titled Mustangs I'd seen with similar miles (25-30k). I was shopping for average miles Mach 1's at the time and the Cobra popped up about 20 minutes away and in my range so I looked at it and was amazed at how nice it was. If it didn't have the rebuilt title there's no way I would've been able to get into it. I only put around 3k miles on it, which were completely trouble free. I put it up for sale about 2 weeks ago for more than I paid for it and I couldn't believe the response I got. I had hesitated to list it a couple times because of the "dreaded" r-title. I listed it on a Friday, answered a ton of emails, texts, and pm's over the weekend, the buyer went to his bank Monday morning and drove 4 hours to pick it up Tuesday. In hindsight I wish I would've listed it another grand higher because there was no negotiation from any of the serious buyers. Lol On the other end of the spectrum, my brother-in-law bought a built 2000 Lightning last year with 106k on the chassis and paid too much for it. In January he totaled it, and insurance gave him 6k for it while he still owed over twice that. He still would've been screwed even if it was a clear title, but not nearly as much. I'd have no problem at all buying another rebuilt vehicle if it's been repaired right, but from this point on it'd only be a cheaper daily driver that's bought with cash and no loans just to prevent any situation like my brother-in-law is dealing with. For what it's worth, the only reason I sold my car was to get into a C5 Z06.

Is that kid playing rock-paper-scissors in his profile pic? Certainly he doesn't think that's gangster. The salesman and I both raped a WRB '04 STi at Byers Imports last summer. I gave my old SRT-4 a pretty good beating back in late '07 or early '08 at Lindsey Acura before I bought it, salesman was a douche and kept trying to talk about it like he knew all about it, yet any technical question I asked he gave a deer in the headlights look. One response was literally "I don't know, but those seats are awesome. I'll bet you could take a turn at any speed you wanted and you wouldn't slip at all!". I believe his name was Shawn Fagrave or something close. If you're on here Shawn, you're a douche. I've never been to Denny Dotson but I've looked at his website a few times in the past. I'll try to stop by next time I'm in Columbus just to put a face to these stories. Might as well drive a car or two while I'm there...I'll drive my Cobra or the wife's 330xi to let them know I'm serious about that Viper or Supra. lol

I never put a front plate on my "toys", but on my beaters that I drive daily I always do. I've never gotten a ticket for it, but I was pulled over and given a warning so many times back when I didn't run a front plate that it became annoying (for the cop as well I'm sure) and I figured I was running out of warnings. Kohones, I think you were correct the first time in saying you hope it DOES pass. If it passes it means we won't have to run a front plate anymore. I definitely hope it passes, it looks terrible and causes damage to the front of your vehicle most of the time. Even if you don't have to drill into the bumper, more often than not the bracket will rub the bumper and cause paint damage. I think the above mentioned scenario of why a front plate is good is pretty far fetched and just about the only scenario at all that defends a front plate.

Color me jealous. I'm trying to Cobra to make the same move soon.

noleafclover killed the thread with his super long unfunny, thank you super gtp for bringing it back.

No, that I do not sir. I don't see how being a car guy and wearing automotive shirts is a douche move? I'll be sure to pm you next time I'm planning on clothes shopping so you can let me in on the season's hottest styles so I can impress all the people that I don't know, get chicks that my wife won't let me bang, and be cool with all the metrosexuals.
-
lmfao no way!
-
Hell if I had a Ferrari I'd have a closet full of Ferrari shirts and I'd wear them no matter what I was driving. Maybe I'm a douche because of it, but I have a lot of shirts related to a car I own or have previously owned.
-
Agreed. If some old geezer just pulled out in front of me and ran over the front of my new quarter million dollar car I'd be flipping out. I think the guy shoving a camera in his face and asking dipshit questions is the real douche.

Too Beautiful Not to Share: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Content
-Alex- replied to Mallard's topic in Pics and Vids
I knew the GXP's and REDLINE's were the 260 hp turbo motors, I guess I just automatically thought of a base model since the last post above mine just said "Solstice coupe". Were they even available as a base model coupe or were all the coupes GXP's? Regardless of trim level and another 60 hp or so, my thoughts on a $35k Solstice still stand. -

This will definitely be a sick car when finished, but the amount invested will definitely be insane. I had no clue those things were $35k new, that's ignorant for a 200ish hp 2 seater. I like the squared off lines of the Sky's a lot better, it's a shame they never made them in a coupe. Although, it'd be more of a shame for GM to have 2 200ish hp 2 seater coupes trying to sell them for $35k each. -
Like a boss.

Well sir, in my previous post I guess by "hack" I meant they just told you where the access panel is to the keyboard, what the default password usually is, and how to reset the password to whatever you want in case you can't figure out the password. I are not a hacker and use it in an extremely incorrect way a lot. Me opening up a box of cereal in the morning = totally hacked into that cardboard box, son.

Jalopnik even did a how-to for hacking these a month or two ago. lol

He definitely should've just stuck with being a helping hand to Holley instead of trying to be a competitor in the market. Either way, I hate to hear about another automotive related company going under and really hate to hear about anybody losing their house.

As long as Jimmy faggot ass Johnson doesn't win, I don't care who does. That goes for every race, not just Daytona.
-
That pic has confirmed my opinion on leaving the windows and trim alone while slamming it on polished or silver wheels. Dew eet.
-
Well sir I didn't want to have a mile long sentence with a thousand commas, but if the badges were removed or blacked out I would most certainly do the same to the window trim and either remove or black out the roof rails as well. However, the more I look at the car I think I'd just slam it on polished CCW classics or something similar and leave the trim alone and windows clear. I think the bright details would be more fitting with that color.
-
The size and fitment will look great after the drop, but the design definitely isn't my taste, way too busy. Good thing it's your car and not mine.
-
Ballllllinnnnn I think with tint, dark wheels, and blacked out badges/debadged, that color might not be all that bad.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not the most law abiding citizen in the state, but I've always moved over when passing stopped emergency vehicles anyway. It's common courtesy and I know if I was on the shoulder of the road with cars passing at 65-70 mph I'd sure as hell appreciate an extra 10 feet or so of comfort. Just like when getting pulled over, I make sure everything is in plain sight, turn the dome light on if it's dark, and make sure I'm up front about everything. It's a respect thing, and unfortunately very few people have it anymore.
