Moto Series Round 6 @ Nelson Ledges Aug 30/31, Sep 1

Ron is out for next round, now Craig isn't doing the 40. As much as I like the 40 I guess I might drop down to the 20 if there is no one to race against....might as well save the tires and gas. -

Are you running a gopro? If so, I leave mine slightly open to ventilate and avoid fogging. I only undo the cam portion of the latch and pop the seal of the case. If you leave the latch attached to the front and rear, the camera shouldn't fall out(even when riding, forgot once). When you turn the camera on, close the latch. I try to pop it open at least every other session because as the temps change the cameras almost always fog. Other option is an open case, but I've never tried mine. -

Could it be at 10:20? I seriously thought you were trying to clutch up and wheelie down the front straight. lol For about a half lap after that, I was lost; I became so accustom to judging my entrance speed off yours that I didn't hit anything with enough speed after you were gone. I was really surprised you didn't come by on the back straight because I knew it wasn't a good lap. Smoothed out for a few laps and then at 15:10 I had a great pass in 13 that cost virtually no time....was thinking I was home free if I didn't F up at that point. The 30 minute mark hit and I started looking behind me to make sure you were not close while I took a breather and stretched out a little. I don't even know how I was turning 16's for those few laps while trying to regain some composure. I was wrong before when I said the 40 wasn't bad....it will kick your ass, but in a good way. I wish you wouldn't have had that moment, it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if we would have been dicing in the later laps. -

Motoseries Round 7 At Beave Run Pirc And Saturday Track Day
RHill replied to jbot's topic in Track is Crack
Damnit, if we are running the OR train on the beave I'll have to do the trackday. I have no idea the times I was running there, felt great playing king of intermediate...then threw the bike down in t1 of my first advance session.- 246 replies

Motoseries Round 7 At Beave Run Pirc And Saturday Track Day

Considering options for the weekend...track day only, track day and a race, or a bunch of races and no TD. Ideally I'd do the trackday and a race or two, but that option hurts the wallet the most.- 246 replies

Welcome to OR Chuck! Just messing with Jester, you have that CR moving around the track! Going to make it to PIRC in two weeks? Mini Iron butt highlights....this would have been a lot better, but I forgot to hit rec. on the front camera. Still uploading so it will be a few minutes. -

Dont get passed by dirtbikes! Get a camera mount that doesn't have Parkinson's^3. When your boot hooks up on your rearset, worry about staying on the track first and the boot second. lol Seriously looking good out there man...for a first day in I you cannot ask for more. Get some track fairings for that beast at a minimum. -

this... I was taken aback when I realized it was Phil; just a few minutes earlier he came over to the pit and was BSing with everyone. You hit the nail on the head Jinu, sobering. Hope he has a quick and complete recovery! -

Fuckin 12's.....I felt like king shit for barely getting into the 13's and you pull 12's the very next day. What was the goal for the year? -

Brian, not sure if we have met, but I'm sorry to hear about your luck on Saturday. Glad you checked out OK and still enjoyed the day. If I were you, I'd hold off making the decision about dedicating your 675 to the track...keep an eye out this fall and you can find some great deals on some dedicated track bikes. Yesterday was so much fun! We had an OR train going around in advance group for a few sessions. Jinu, Matt, Ron, Brandon and I were out there having a blast. Not sure if it was as exciting or as much of a learning experience for Jinu, Brandon and Matt, but I'm pretty sure Ron and I picked up some time that will stick with us. Then someone had the bright idea to nominate me as pack leader for the first session after lunch....and tell me early enough that my nerves had plenty of time to kick in. I swear, getting ready for the session I was just as nervous as the first time I was on the grid for a race start; luckily that shit cleared up when the tires hit hot pit....no time to think about "am I going too slow for these guy" on the track. After a few laps getting back into the grove I started clicking off personal bests again. Did the mini 40 today and hit a wall at the 30 minute mark as I was on Dan's (2nd) ass. After reeling him in I had to give it up....screwed up a shift into 1 and drifted waaaaay out on the carousel. Relaxed for 3 laps and picked the pace back up when the guys at the tower started signaling how much time was left. I know exactly what caused the problem...I tightened my boots and gloves down too much. Cut off the circulation to my hands and my right foot. At one point my lower right leg felt like it was on fire and I couldn't even feel the peg anymore. After the race was over it took a couple minutes for my hands to "wake up". Lesson learned, if you are not comfortable it will become a distraction....especially after 30 minutes on the track. -

Over thinking, just ride. If it beats the shit out of you back off the settings a little.....at an intermediate pace you will likely need to do nothing. -
I should have went out and walked the track, but I was having fun flying my RC plane. Still have never walked a track.

That is about the same way I progressed; I was mostly in the 36 with a couple 35's on my first visit, saturday I turned a few 31s and Sunday I broke into the 29's with a blown T1 entrance. Pretty sure if I had another session I could have got into the low 28's or better. I still have a lot of areas to pick up time....hell I was doing all my braking for 5 on the uphill side of the hump and coasting into it. Everytime I waited till after it would upset the bike and I couldn't judge speed and end up parking it. Probably should have moved into advance to have more open track to really try to cut time, but I was worried about blowing the blind turns and having other bikes close by. There are a few other videos on youtube now....if you search for "grattan" and sort by upload date it works pretty good to find them.

wait until I put a potato in your exhaust you running the 40 sunday?

I had a lot of fun that session. You were passing people in a few spots(into 5 and 6) that I couldn't yet, forcing me to play catchup between the bowl and the bus stop. I was loving that section of track, you can carry a ton of speed anywhere from the inside edge to the very outside. You were also killing me on the straight.

Nice! Looks like Kevin picked up the pace a little from Saturday. I don't think I saw you guys that whole session....actually I don't remember seeing Kevin at all on Sunday. We should have moved our parking spot up top to hang out, but lazyness took over since we left the ezup and trailer and stuff. Joe, thanks for sharing, that looks like it would be the 11 am session of advance on Saturday? I was checking out the photos from Saturday; they look great! You are absolutely nuts getting in the bowl like that, but the pictures look amazing.
