    Quandary

While at CES I attended the AT&T Developer Summit and stopped by the NVidia booth where they were showcasing their Tegra mobile processors. They had a video game set up and asked me to play it to win a new Tegra powered device. It was a Mario cart type game and though I had never played it (or Mario cart) I kicked ass. Apparently so much so that I got an email from NVidia the other day saying a won an HTC One X+ phone! So my quandary is I have a new iPhone 5 I got late last year so I don't need another phone (or to pay for another plan). I won't just switch over because my wife and I have a lot of shared items on iOS via apps which won't always work on Android. However, I've been wanting to play with an Android device for a while. I was thinking of just use it as a mini tablet but then I thought maybe I should sell it and use the $ for a Nexus 7. I just HATE (the process of) selling stuff. Does anyone have this phone already and what are your thoughts on it? I guess I'm just really mulling what to do and it's cathartic to write it out. It's supposed to deliver today.

    Screw Groupon

Groupon boosted our business at the dive shop. I've never used it personally though. A lot of companies are doing stupid things so they don't offend people...I can't hold it against them no more than I hold it against Chick-Fil-A for being bible thumpers. Their sammiches still taste good.
  3. It depends on how closely your tastes match. My wife and I had zero (major) disagreements about anything when we built the first house. So far on this one, we are lock step as well. Of course, I'm pretty easy going and agreeable for the most part so that helps Yep, that's what I was referring to in my post too. In talking with the builder, adding bedrooms costs very little and you may eventually need the space anyway. One other thing I thought of - make sure the land already has access to utilities (gas, water, etc). If not, that can be a painful and expensive endeavor.
  4. There's one in downtown Sharonville by my wife's office that we've used a few times and they've done a nice job. For the life of me I can remember the name. If I remember I'll edit this post. *EDUT* - Cincinnati Auto Salon
  5. I'm in the middle of building a rather large house right now. Actually, we are trying to finalize the floor plans and starting to work on picking out the flooring, etc. What a long process. This will be the second that we've built but the first was a Fisher home so it was a bit cookie cutter with limited options etc. This one will be 100% custom. For the past few years, we've been keeping a list of things that we wanted in the new house from features down to floor plan wants (i.e. first floor master). Start making a list of all of these little things so you don't lose sight of them. Keep resale value items in mind when designing even if you think this is the home you'll die in. Find a reputable builder who has been around awhile and do your homework. If I think of anything else I'll chime in. Here is a rendering of how the house will look...
  6. Looks more like stupidity to me.
  7. True. However, I guess the one point I'm trying to make is with an LLC anyone suing you can get $ from the LLC and the LLC holdings (i.e. property) but the landlord, his assets (i.e. house, car, etc) are out of reach. Without an LLC you can quickly wind up broke AND homeless. I guess it just depends on the levels of risk you are willing to expose yourself to so as you state it's not compulsory but most attorneys/financial planners will highly recommend it.
  8. Steel tends to leave more residue etc. If you properly clean and maintain your weapon, this really isn't an issue. I've shot a case of steel out of my SIG 229 and never once had a misfeed, misfire, etc. I use Frog Lube and I haven't really noticed a big difference in residue etc.
  9. I wholeheartedly disagree. While insurance on the property covers loss from theft/fire/damage, it does little to protect you (the landlord) from litigation. i.e. the tenant notifies you of some carpet that has come loose and needs repair. While awaiting said repair, the tenant's mother who is visiting trips on the carpet and breaks her hip. Hello lawsuit which you may very well lose depending on your actions in response to the initial complaint and the timing. Unless you have a very large umbrella polucy that covers such things, the plantiff has every right to pursue all and any personal assets the landlord has to collect money owed as part of a settlement. Don't think it won't happen. We live in one of the most litigious societies in the world and everyone always wants you have.
  10. I haven't been checking (mainly because I had enough on order) and I've never actually set foot in any of the stores.
  11. I had an order in for 1000 rounds of 9mm ammo for about a month now and they finally sent me an email today and flat canceled my order stating that their vendor is no longer supplying. Fuck.
  12. I didn't read all the responses but I currently have rental property. Set up an LLC or some other limited liability entity to indemnify yourself from lawsuits etc. Don't wait!
  13. looks good but I agree...I try not to watch movie trailers. They give away too much of the story.
  14. Interesting conspiracy vid...some of it can be explained away but some of it is pretty bizarre. I think I saw that medical examiner in the Cannonball Run movie That other video, LOL... For some reason it reminds me of Nicholson in the Shining... "Wendy? Darling? Light, of my life. I'm not gonna hurt ya. You didn't let me finish my sentence. I said, I'm not gonna hurt ya. I'm just going to bash your brains in. Gonna bash 'em right the fuck in!"
  15. Wow, people are nuts and shame on CTD for being price gouging bastards. I have 2 magpul pmags still new in the packaging...I guess I could be an ass sell them for 4x or more what I paid. Not worth it. :/
  16. I think there should be some specific punishments for those who fail to secure their firearms when somebody takes it and commits a crime. I'm referring to those who take the guns that have legal access to the premises (i.e. friends/relatives) not someone who breaks in an steals it. If you own a gun, you should be responsible enough to store it safely where unauthorized people do not have access.
  17. Don't be surprised if a lot of this gets pushed through at the federal level.
  18. That list is weak. There are a crapload of towns in VT, NH and ME that are still full of old school give-you-the-shirt-off-their-back friendly. Some of the nicest places I've even visited and I've traveled extensively.
  19. The Innkeepers (horror) -Story about a haunted inn during the last day before it is shut down. Wasn't a great movie but it felt very real like you were an observer and the acting was very good. Seems to start slow and there isn't much to see for most of the film but plenty of tense moments. Very little gore (except a little towards the end) and while I wasn't crazy about the ending, some liked it. Overall, very entertaining and one of the better scary movies I'd seen in a while. The Fall (Fantasy/Adventure)- Per IMDB - Somewhat of a hard movie to follow at first but the visuals are absolutely stunning and it's a neat story. Best watched in HD. Very entertaining. The Snow Walker (Drama) - A movie starring Barry Pepper as a 1950's pilot who crashes in Alaska and his journey across the tundra to get back to civilization. A very emotional and gripping movie. One of the first streaming movies I ever watched on Netflix. Highly recommended.
  20. It's sad when anyone has to die period, especially because of bullshit. They may have kids and likely family. The Taliban comes in, wrecks Habib's crops and water supply (i.e his livelihood) and then offers him more money than he'll normally see in 5 years to fight the infidel Americans who, by the way, also accidentally killed his sister with an errant bomb. Tough to say no. Don't get me wrong, it's us or them and I'd rather it be them. My son is currently there serving a tour and from what I heard, he had a close call today. (he's ok). I'm anxious to hear what happened.
  21. My wife is Jewish, I'm Joeish. In other news, time to ban the Swiss... http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/01/03/16317129-three-women-killed-after-gunmans-drunken-rampage-in-swiss-village?lite
  22. Or you can do like me and just not go to church. I'm going to hell on scholarship.
