  1. I don't do scary movies well or at least the ones that have the that real aspect to them. I had nightmares for weeks after seeing the decent. So fuck seeing this movie.

I can't remember the last scary movie I saw at the theater because my wife refuses to watch them for the same reason. I need a movie chick

  2. Whatever, ill stick to my opinions you stick to yours and we can agree to disagree.

    Yessir
Hope you dont wreck while on your phone, even worse hope u dont kill someone. I would hate to see you get put away for driving distracted.

I never said I did such things, or even want to. I just don't think there needs to be a law against it...especially one that's unenforceable. In fact, since people will still be doing it, they'll start trying to hide it and put themselves and others at even more risk. Good job guvment.

    Here's the basic problem.

    - Drunk drivers cause accidents and deaths.

    - Cellphone user cause accidents and deaths.

Simply outlawing these things will not stop them from happening, even with huge fines or jail time. The only things that will stop them happening are effective enforcement (you WILL get caught) or physically preventing them from happening.

    - Red light / speed cameras are effective as they catch almost everyone who breaks the law.

    - DUI interlocks are effective because a drunk can't start his car.

But nobody wants to put interlocks in every single car because they are too invasive, and nobody likes red light / speed cameras because they are too effective (or run in an apparently corrupt manner).

So we're back to square one - no effective enforcement of laws and no physical barriers.

Meanwhile, Drunk and cellphone users kill more bikers.

Second verse, same as the first...

    (I'm Henry the 8th I am...)

Well said. Let me refine my formula, more laws = less freedom != increased public safety :D

  3. I'd love it if lanesplitting was legal. I'm thinking it would incent more people to commute on two wheels.

I'd always be a little leary about someone intentionally squeezing lanes to prevent people from doing it. Especially those who didn't know it had been legalized (assuming it had been). A lot of people are self righteous and go out of their way to prevent people from doing things outside of what they consider to be right/legal. I always see people who do the speed limit in the fast lane simply to keep others from speeding.

  4. That is good service and not to shit on your good story but also keep in mind it's in their best interest to resolve it as quickly as possble to limit their liability. Companies are much more cooperative and helpful when they have skin in the game.

Why didn't they call you and inform you of the activity and the hold on your account prior to you finding out by having your card declined which can be a bit embarrassing?

I was in Miami recently and made a rather sizable purchase on my Amex. Within 15 minutes I got a phone call, text and email from Amex asking to verfy the validity of the purchase.

  5. fify

This from a guy who states:

I usually blow by cops at 10mph over in the left lane without so much as a glance. All my tickets are 20mph+ over the limit.
You've invalidated your own argument and from what little time I've been here seems to be par for the course for you

  6. :nono:

It turns out, the kid driving the truck goes to school with the lady I work with who originally told me about the accident. Her duaghter said he still showed up for school that day and was he was described as a "degnerate". I don't know the kid so I can't say but sad to hear the guy passed.

  7. You can add all the laws to the books that you want, but none do a bit of good without real enforcement.

That's the real crux of the issue. Enforcement will be paltry at best and it further burdens law enforcement.

So now, in addition to ensuring you are obeying traffic laws, and not driving under the influence, and wearing your seatbelt, they have to see if you are playing with your phone. Meanwhile, the asshat next to them is "driving" while eating a burger and fries while smoking a cig (and then flicking the butt out the window for good measure ). All completely legal (except for the littering thing) and no less dangerous.

    More laws = less freedom.

  8. When I was looking to buy my Z last month, I noticed there eemed to be a lot of bikes for sale in that region as well. My son is at Ft Campbell now but he doesn't have a bike. A lot of restrictions on base for motorcycles.

  9. Here is the news story. Apparently, "he was a helmet"

    http://www.wlwt.com/news/30992444/detail.html

  10. Haven't heard from any of my friends in that area hope all is well for the rider involved. Did she have any idea what kinda of bike it was?

She wouldn't know if it was sitting in front of her

    That sucks.

I wonder where on 177? Most of the intersections that go to 177 are just 3 way intersections before you get to 73 (headed north from Hamilton). Then afterwards there is a few bad intersections (Somerville and 177). They just redid that intersection last summer to make it safer too @ 177 and 73.

I can ask her when she gets back to her desk. I haven't see anything on the news sites yet.
