  1. The lady that sits next to me at work said a motorcycle was behind her this am and they were going ~55mph. As she passed through an intersection (SR 177), a truck ran the stop sign and t-boned the motorcycle behind her :wtf: She stopped but was too freaked out to go back and there were a number of vehicles stopped already. I'm not sure what the outcome was (likely not good the way it was described). Hopefully not a loved on of anyone here.

    BE CAREFUL OUT THERE

  2. I think there are enough layers here that I'm sufficiently insulated from his stupidity.

On an unrelated note, anyone use Synology NAS devices, specifically the DS212j with DSM 4.0? I'm hearing everything from these are the FSM's gift to home storage solutions to they cured Aunt Edna's cancer, but I don't really want to base this solely on Newegg and Amazon reviews since I'll be plowing some cash into it and the HD's. I'm really curious how the cloud streaming works to the Android/iPhone devices, that seems like something I could really get some mileage out of.

I've had a DS209 for a few years and I haven't had any issues. Inside it I run 2 1TB drives in a RAID 1 array. Synology makes good stuff, can't go wrong with them IMO.

I back up all of my important data to the NAS (pictures, music, etc) AND have a copy of all of this on a 750GB portable USB 3.0 drive that I keep locked in my desk at work in the event I have a disaster at the homestead.

I also happen to do hardware reviews (mostly SSDs) for a site and have half a dozen of drives laying around that I'm going to have to get rid of soon before they overtake my office. If you haven't upgraded your system to an SSD yet, you're missing out.

  3. Light helmet, but shield changes require a tool

Yeah, I read that...you can use a coin in a pinch. Either way, I rarely change shields (wear Oakleys instead).

Doesn't seem like many shops are stocking them yet. Are you planning on restocking them? I wouldn't be buying for a bit anyway as I'm heading to Europe for a few weeks in early May.

My EXO400 is getitng long in the tooth anyway and will be relegated to my trips to the gym when I come home sweaty :D

  4. That's quite an accomplishment, nice job. A friend of mine was working towards his commercial license and then 9/11 happened and derailed it. He never picked it back up. He was trying to get into private charters, etc. as they pay pretty well.

  5. I'd love to move back to the Adirondacks. Hate New York taxes and politics but love the area. It is home to me. Not to mention all the wonderful back roads twisting thru the mountains.

I'm originally from Lake George...can't say as a rider that's where I'd pick because of the winters but during the warmer months there's some great roads up there!

  6. I have some Joe Rocket mesh Phoenix pants that are nice and cool in the summer. They have some armor like the mesh Phoenix jacket. Can't say as to how they will hold up but my wife's Phoenix jacket held up well in her accident several years ago. Unfortunately, it didn't help protect her pelvis which was broken in 2 places (she's fine now).

  7. Finally got another bike after selling my FJR a few years ago. Nice bike. Very light and nimble, super smooth, tranny is silky. I'm very impressed and happy with my choice.

The only bad part was I had to pick it up 3 hours away a little north of Columbus. Forecast today was 65 and scattered thunderstorms, at least the last I saw. Well, it never got above 53 (that I can tell) and it POURED :rain: about 45 mins into the trip. I don't exactly have rain gear since I normally avoid riding in the rain like the plague and I got thoroughly soaked, not to mention half frozen.

My wife was in the car following me so we stopped off at the outlet mall where I proceeded to purchase an entire new outfit plus some rain gear items at Eddie Bauer. We waited about 4 hours for the bulk of the rain to dissipate and I rode the rest of the way home. Fun day. Because it was rainy, I didn't really get to see what she really has...can't wait until tomorrow.

Now the farkling begins...urban brawlers (black) for the exhaust and a Muzzy's fender eliminator to start. I see new mirrors in my future as well because you can't see shit out these. Crappy cell phone pic but I was cold and tired and it was getting dark.

  8. Scuba, don't take the responses the wrong way, but none of us know who you are.

You mean like this? I also had my eye on a nice Z1000 so we'll see how that goes.

@Swingset, thanks. Maybe this was a bit childish but again I felt the need to vent and the FS thread was closed rather quickly.

Everyone will have their own opinion, that's cool, I can roll with it. BTW guys, I'm not a native Cincinnatian so you can't hold it against me too much :D

  9. Exarch & ohdaho...I was the first and was asked to wait. See above. The "dealer" I'm guessing Larry from the FS thread didn't offer until yesterday.

Anyway, I'm done with this. You guys can thinnk what you want.

The King - you may be a cool guy (based on the feedback here) but I still think you went about it wrong. Either way, no hard feelings...I just feel a little shit on right now and had to vent some. Best of luck to you and your family - sincerely.

  10. I don't give fvck about the bike really...there are others. I already said I don't blame him for doing what's right financially. It's the lack of respect and courtesy that irritates me. I would've paid more if given the chance to match it. There's a right way and a wrong way to do things...I guess maybe I'm just old fashioned.

I offered last weekend to buy the bike Wednesday (yesterday) cash in hand but I was told I couldn't because he was out of town for work but yet he could sell it to a dealer.

You can delete the thread, flame me, whatever but that's how I feel.

    Oh great... Hes from Cincinnati

    Browns fan? :thefinger:
