I'd eat it. That line works on the ladies sometimes too.

uh oh...sounds like it may be more limited to pre-paid phones http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2016/11/15/secret-software-in-some-android-phones-sent-data-to-china-experts-warn.html http://www.kryptowire.com/adups_security_analysis.html

It's really hard to boot in safe mode using F8 in Windows 10 - especially if the OS is on an SSD. The load time is so quick for the OS, the window of opportunity where the F8 key functions is incredibly brief and it's almost impossible to do. Your best bet is to insert a windows 10 disk and boot from the disk to use the repair utility. If it doesn't boot from the CD automatically, you may need to hit the 'delete' key (could be something else depending on the motherboard) to boot to the BIOS and set the startup drive to be the CD drive.

I may have a big setback coming. Long story short, I've had issues with both of my Achilles due to heel spurs. I had to have surgery on my right one several years ago which was a nightmare. 12-15 weeks non-weight bearing, then another 3 months in a boot with limited weight bearing. 6 months, until I can do normal walking activities and a year until back to 100%. No fun - in fact it was fucking horrible Well, my left one has been bothering me for a while and after doing therapy and a small procedure to mitigate the problem, I think it's now torn I can't support my weight on up on my toes on that foot and I can't walk without a limp. The symptoms/pain are exactly like when I tore my right one. So I go see the doctor on the 23rd where he'll likely tell me I have to have the same surgery. The extra bummer is my wife and I have a scheduled dive trip to Indonesia in Feb with $25k invested so likely I'll have to wait until after them to have the surgery which means I miss the whole riding season next year FML btw, down 90lbs (per the scale) but I'm sure it's more. I've definitely put on some muscle and it's starting to show - even my wife noticed and she sees me every day. I max benched 315 lbs the other night but that's as high as I'm going because it's really hard on my joints...I'm no spring chicken anymore so much for a long story being short.

sexy vs functional?

It's not necessarily the electronics that garner the complaints...false neutrals, cylinder head gasket leaks, not recognizing the "keyless" fob (ie. no start), fuel sensor, fork seals. Just seems like the quality of build isn't great. Again, grain of salt with the internets. My Tenere has a lot of electonics (ES, ride modes, heated grips, cruise, DTC, ABS, etc) and I haven't heard of many issues. Still, it's an incredibly fun bike so I'm keeping my eye out for some late model used ones but also considering an FJ-09 (either in addition to the Tenere, not a replacement). However, I found out this week that it's likely I may need achilles surgery on my left heel which, because of other commitments, may not happen until spring which means I miss the entire riding season next year so buying anything now, unless I get the deal of the century, isn't prudent.

I still want a 1200s...though I only did a test ride, it's one of the best bikes I've ever ridden. I can handle pricey or I can put up with some issues, but both together is no bueno. Especially when you throw in the cost of maintenance for valves etc. I've read about a lot of reliability issues, even with the newer models which is a shame. Granted, it probably seems overblown since people with issues tend to be more vocal but you definitely see less complaints about problems with the Japanese bikes. i read a post that made sense...buy a lightly used one. Let the original owner deal with the issues that crop up early, get fed up and sell it. Get a good deal while avoiding dealing with at least some of the problems.

A guy at work used to ride and he said the VFR he had was by far the best bike he ever owned. Though, he quit riding when he had kids wo what does he know?

Yeah, it would be limited to a commuter and local hooligan bike for me. I'd trailer it to places like the Gap (regardless of the shit I would catch from some people). I doubt I'll buy one but I'll entertain the thought at least. The ones with this range are ~$18k which is pretty steep. They get down to $10k and it's a no-brainer.

I may go up to Joe's Cycle Shop near Dayton on Saturday to have a look at them...I think they offer demo rides. I know they have a few at IP too. I sat on one there but I forget which model it was. I didn't find it all too comfortable...felt like sitting on a dirt bike, all narrow and shit.

the 200+ miles is only around town though. Only ~100 miles on the highway but that's plenty for a commute, previously I think it was around 60. I can't wait until these are at least 150 mi + ranges for highway use. https://www.engadget.com/2016/11/09/zero-motorcycles-2017-range-power/ I very well may look at these. We have charging stations at work that I can use for free.

You're missing out on some gains today...

This is A LOT closer than I thought...only a few states left to project and it could still go either way. This is like watching the Cubs/Indians game 7 but at the end, we all lose.

With 2 ppl on that bike the "sag" is going to be pretty significant which will probably make the chain too tight depending on how it was set to begin with. Get a shaftie!

Actually, the day after tomorrow is going to be the worst. Feels good though.

I read a lot of oil threads over the years and most of it is very subjective and even the "factual" parts can be biased depending on the test and who was performing it. There's things that synth oil does better and things that dino oil does better so I use a blend of the two. However, unless you flat out use the wrong oil, any difference in protection/performance won't manifest for many years and miles - likely long after you've moved on so don't sweat the small stuff.
