  1. In regards to diesel, an 'expert' was discussing this on the radio and said that unlike regular gas, diesel demand is relatively consistent (i.e. not many hybrid diesels out there) so it keeps prices relatively steady. I get that but if the raw material (i.e oil) is cheaper, why wouldn't that affect the price???
  2. Also the federal guvmint is trying to tack on more taxes to gasoline while the gettin' is good.
  3. i noticed that too...WTF. Glad I filled up this morning - $1.79.

    OR Decals

I'm gonna order some for my Super Tenere soon. Just have to figure out where they will go so I can determine the size needed.
  6. Get it. We can do some adventure riding
  7. This. Sometimes your weight doesn't budge but you can tell your clothes fit better.
  8. Low carb diets are generally not bad for cholesterol levels as long as you are doing it right. I have always had high cholesterol as it runs in the family. Even in my 20's when I was super fit and had a really clean diet, my cholesterol was high. It's just like that for some people genetically. Back in 2005-6 when I lost 80 lbs on a low carb diet I was at the doctor getting my bi-annual cholesterol check and another doctor from Chicago came in to talk to me. He was studying the effects of low carb diets on cholesterol and triglycerides. My triglycerides were so low that they were nearly unmeasurable even though I was eating plenty of eggs, bacon, meat, etc. He told me that his findings across the country showed similar results along with lower cholesterol levels. He explained to me that since carbs were not being taken in at normal levels, the body had to use fats to replenish glycogen and to maintain blood sugar levels. The easiest place for the body to get this is from blood lipids so that's why the triglycerides get so low. This also affects cholesterol but to a lesser degree.
  9. I never said the water loss was forever, just as long as you remain in a low carb state. I'm not comparing glycogen and water...not sure where you see a comparison. Glycogen stored in the body retains water - 4 grams for every one gram of glycogen. Look it up.
  10. You are partially right. The glycogen stores get low which is what makes the diet work so well as it has to look to fat stores to replenish the glycogen. Glycogen holds water (I think 4 grams H2O to every 1 gram glycogen). So yes, it does reduce water weight which you keep off as long as you continue to eat low carb as it goes hand in hand with glycogen.
  11. I can throw a nail through drywall
  12. I've always been told that a shotgun is the best home defense weapon but I'm sure an AR works just fine.
  13. Yeah, if you do low carb for awhile (which keeps the water weight off) and have a cheat day, you'll gain 5-8 lbs overnight haha. It comes right back off though once you are back on the wagon. Back in 2005 I lost 80lbs on low carb. Unfortunately, soon after I went back to school and over the course of 2 years, gained it back and then some. I will be down 100lbs this time next year which should be my ideal weight. Ready, go!
  14. I need to get one of these too and interested in the recommendations given here. For the record, I have no small children and those that visit aren't allowed in my bedroom and are never unsupervised (i watch kids like a hawk in my house because we have many fragile expensive items - i.e. Chihuly glass sculptures).
  15. Nothing's wrong with it, just be aware of it. People get all excited because they drop 10 lbs in a week and then the next week they lose only a pound or two at best and get frustrated.
  16. Got a new elliptical a few weeks ago along with my weight machines so I'm getting my exercise on and cutting some serious weight this year.
  17. Yeah, that's the problem. The problem was at the time, I had no clue where I was which makes it hard to report. It's shame that people even need to report that stuff but it's not surprising given how some treat other people even.
  18. I can't stand it when people do that. I was on a dual sport ride last year and down this dirt road was a trailer with at least 5 dogs penned up in individual cages barely big enough to hold them. It sickens me. I really wanted to stop and let them all loose.
  19. Nice boat...I'm ready for some fun in the sun.
  20. OP - any links to the model in your post? I don't see it on HF's site. I've been wanting to get one for awhile, just haven't gotten around to getting one. Stellar reviews on that one...
  21. Ha, sorry. I did get it out the few days it was somewhat warm and I'm loving it so far. I've been keeping the RPM's down through break in so I haven't been able to really get on it yet but it's super comfortable, handles very nice and has lots of power. I definitely think this is a long term purchase. I have about 10 packages incoming over this week and next with a crap load of farkles. At some point I'm going to want to install an aux fuse block. Anyone good with bike electric stuff? I'd rather work with someone to do it and learn than let a shop do it.
  22. In all fairness, she has a vested interest as she wants to be a passenger on it. There's actually quite a back story to this too, the short version is, not only did she get it but had to get it from Illinois and the dealer was fantastic. Here's the long version.
